Also known as Kolmen valtakunnan rajapyykki, Treriksröset, or Treriksrøysa, the three-country cairn was erected in 1897 to mark the international border between the three countries.

This iconic cast-in-place concrete tower is an important example of organic architecture in Spain. Its castle-like appearance results mainly from its small-scale structure made up of many superimposed cylinders, which reminds us of medieval castles with its numerous small watchtowers and residential towers.

Terraced hillsides are seen in the Douro Valley of northern Portugal. The steep slopes are covered with grape vines that rise from the Douro River below. The region is recognized as the home of port wine — a sweet, red wine that is often served with dessert.
