You’re likely thinking of Emhon Lux, one of the Blood Angels. In The End And The Death, his legs and pelvis were shattered and he was basically a wreck. He demanded to be basically crammed into a Mechanicum suspensor chair, had a dispenser for painkillers stuck into his back, and went back into battle with a lascannon and a bunch of Mechanicum servitors slaved to his mind, since the Palace was about to fall and he had no time to heal.
The End and the Death was a LOT.
