In the more general info:
In this au Casey is actually the human that the turtles see kind of like a sister, they actually met April because of her (more info bout this below the cut)
My au is inspired the most in the 2003 & 1987 since they are my favourite versions but it has references and characters from every single iteration! even background characters are reused and given major roles (yes im serious)
Mikey is the annoying version of 03, 87 & 2012
Donnie’s character is a weird mix of 03, Tottmnt & rottmnt
Casey jones is the perfect mix between 03 & rottmnt Casandra
Leo is.. well Leo - jkjk he’s kind of like 2012 and 03. Fun fact about him: he’s mute! Not so fun for him tho (details below the cut)
Raph is just like Tottmnt & 2012 but hw will grow up into a much more 03 & 1987 personality

Now that we got that out of the way, let’s get a bit more serious and let me tell you about the DRAMA 👀⬇️
Ok what is this au even about?
Well BMNT is just like any other TMNT iteration in the sense of: it’s a about 4 turtle brothers who fight crime in New York City by the old art of ninjutsu and trained by their master and father Splinter. Still there are major differences in how the story starts and develops:
The story starts with Casey Jones, a normal girl who is turning 18 spending her birthday in teenage hell — detention. In her way “home” she is encountered with one of her teachers, a special one who knew all of her secrets… or so he thought, being a vigilante was all he actually knew, he could’ve never imagined that she had a strange familiar bond with 4 mutant kid turtles who lived in the sewers with their rat dad, I mean who would!
After being persuaded to start taking classes with a high grade student so that she can help with her failing classes— that is to say, ALL classes — she gets to the hideout with the worlds lowdest sigh
— You know you can just get in, say hi and then tell what was wrong with your day instead of doing all that noice
— Hi Donnie, my day was ass.
— What troubles you young one?
— Oh splints! My bad I thought you was meditating or some’, nothing wrong happened just.. you know, the usual, I hate school and one of ma teachs - erm Mr Mad said I should let some random nerd help me or whatev. I might text her tonight but I dunno if it’s even worth it yo, i mean— I literally don’t know shii.. nothin’ bout nothin’

— gee thanks Leon you’re such a kind soul. But yeah guess ya right I’ll text her. - Casey starts walking to the room she has decorated for herself as she talks, she doesn’t exactly live there but she’s been around for long enough to be deserving of a room.

How exactly did Casey meet April then?
Well, Casey is a moron. She was close to graduating but was failing literally EVERYTHING and so one of her teachers — who knew about her secret identity since he was friends with her father before he passed away — recommended that she participated in a learning program along another student who was one year younger: April O’Neil
In the hideout of the turtles after being convinced by them, Casey texted her to arrange a meeting. That night her and the turtles went on patrol as they always do but she seemed particularly distracted by her phone, which was weird for miss Casey-night-patrols-are-important-to-keep-the-city-safe-Jones. Of course, after realising that she had being texting with April for hours Raph and Mikey did not miss the opportunity to make fun of her till they both received a clean punch in what they had as a nose.
The girls met for study purposes but quickly became friends, which Casey did not realise it would be a problem for her secret identity. Which wasn’t even well kept to be honest- I mean who screams their own full name in a fight?
Leo is mute? Huh?
Yup! Born like that, he comunicates with his fam and Casey by sign language — well, one that was adapted for 3 fingers — he never actually had trouble with communicating since the only people he comunicated with understood him. The true problem will come when he finally comes out of the sewer and starts talking- or attempting to with other people outside his family. You can imagine how frustrated he’ll be once he meets Casey’s special friend and not be able to hold even the smallest conversation.
Well, to say that was the only problem with his disability is kind of an understatement — the truth is, it has brought problems to his family, more specifically to his team. Leo had always been obedient, a true dream of a fighter. He was the first to learn to fight with his chosen weapons: the twin ninjatō.
Still with his though dedication and perseverance his father did not consider him worthy of being a leader.
— A leader should communicate with its team, im afraid that’s the one ability you will never be able to learn my child.
Those where the words of his father. A terrible destiny for a dreamer. But Leo never gave up, he trained and trained hopeful that maybe one day he would be as loved as his brother Raphael.
Raphael was strong, was loud but wasn’t a leader. He was just not fit for it, and Splinter knew it. Still, his father persisted indulging into him that he was the strongest and should be the one that leads to protect his brothers. It would take a lot of years, a lot of unfortunate events and a lot of luck for Splinter to give up on him- thats when Leo took lead.
That didn’t stop his father to tell him that he should implement in him a talking apparatus. Splinter had been an engineer for a while back when he was human and Donnie was clearly gifted with great abilities, he was sure he could design something to give Leo an artificial voice. But Leo did not want it. He wasn’t born with one, it wasn’t him, he didn’t want to delete a part of him just to be considered good enough by his father, he wanted to stay as he was— mute.
Why is Raph so different in design?
Leo, Donnie and Mikey where brothers before mutation and so, where together when splinter found them. When he touched them they started to mutate into humans with his DNA (splinter didn’t tho- his mutation came later) .
Raph did not have the same luck. He was not a marine turtle like his brothers but a tortoise (land) so his survival in the sewers was much more difficult.
A land humanoid tortoise’s place was definitely not the sewers, specially since he was a lonely little kid. He tried to survive by eating the little plants that grew do to the humidity and the bodies of dead rats and whatever animal he could find. It wasn’t long till he became violent and started to kill some animals in order to survive. He understood that it was fight or die.
But he wasn’t very lucky, his brutality made him get hurt a lot and some rats bit him, giving him infected wounds and making him go sick. He never learned how to swim, there weren’t a lot of places he could learn, most water más 4 inches deep, it would have been impossible to drown on it. But a flood was definitely another story.
There was a terrible storm in New York. Splinter had perfectly secured their hideout so no water could enter. But Raph wasn’t in it, so the water drag him along its flow with such force that it make him break a couple of bones. He passed out because of the lack of oxygen and when he miraculously woke up, some rats were trying to eat from his already open wounds. A little movement was enough to scare them away but he couldn’t do much more than that. He couldn’t move and his sickness definitely was making worse.
With all the force he had left he tried dragging him self in an attempt to find something, but he was sure he’d die anyways. That’s when he heard a not-so-distant noise of what he didn’t know was a door followed by footsteps. He looked up just to see a giant rat staring at him in horror and absoute silence so Raph was sure that that could definitely eat him and no movement he could do in that state could scare it away, so he passed out from the fear.
What are their ages?
Casey: 18 — 2003
April: 17 — 2004
Leo: 13 — 2008
Raph: 13 — 2008
Mikey: 12 — 2009
Donnie: 9 — 2012
What about splinter and his story?
Hamato Yoshi was a human boy born in Japan from the clan Hamato. He was raised in the art of ninjutsu and warned about the dangers of the foot clan, a very old nemesis of their clan, they where dangerous and soulless asesines with no moral code.
Yoshi was not interested in this matters, he believed it was old business and he did not want to waste his life fighting. He graduated and decided to study engineering, in college he met a woman named Tang Shen. Her biggest dream was to move to America, a free land. She was studying medicine as her family always wanted, but she wanted to live a life outside their expectations and be free from judgment.
They fell in love and Tang Shen became pregnant with a girl they had decided to name Miwa. Her brother was assassinated, followed by her parents, that’s when she decided to tell her husband the truth. Her family had a big debt with a very dangerous clan: the Foot. Apparently the due date had passed and they had started eliminating them as a punishment, that was the real reason she had always wanted to move to America. She was almost due to give birth so they booked the plane tickets for the next two months in case there where any complications.
Everything went well and Miwa was born healthy. The day before their moving, everything was packed, they where ready to start they’re new life, and raise their child in a new country. Yoshi left to say a final goodbye to his family but when he came back, the tragedy had already sticked. His home, in live flames—the home where his wife and daughter where. He tried rushing in but the house was already too burned so it crumbled to the ground making Yoshi pass out from flying remains that hit him in the face. The ninjas found him laying there and pronounced him dead.
He woke up with nothing. His beloved family was wiped out as nothing, his dream was stolen from him and all he could do was blame himself. He decided to grant his wife’s wish and move to America. The two empty seats beside him at the plane only rubbing in what he has lost.
He arrived at USA. He had nothing, he was homeless, alone, he couldn’t speak the language and he had nothing to pay with. He would have gotten drunk till he passed out if only he had a penny to do so. The rain only reinforced his desire for death. Soaking wet he tried to find some place where he could sleep so he went into the sewers. It was a depressing and gross place, and he believed that’s what he deserved. But almost as a sign of the universe he found 3 little turtles that after he touch them—as if it was a magic trick—they transformed into little humanoid babies
In his state he believed he had gone insane but still, he took them with him and they became a family. He now understood the importance of the techniques his clan had taught him so he trained them in the art on ninjutsu so that he never lost his family again.
Are miwa and karai the same person in BMNT?
Not even close, Miwa — as said before — was splinters new born daughter which was genuinely incinerated to death in the fire along her mother.
Karai comes from a much more dark story. Oroku saki was looking for a descendant, he was not interested in the so called family bullshit — he wanted to train a soldier and indulge in them all of his knowledge, believes and abilities — make them so obedient that they couldn’t betray him
And so he decided to gain it in an inhuman way, he gathered a bunch of well trained Kunoichis and make them fight to death to see which one was the most deserving of bearing his child — of course, the women where not aware this was his purpose and so they fought and the last one standing was not met with a price but with the horror of carrying a child she did not consent to
3 months after the birth of karai the woman was executed — the foot leader did not wish for her to indulge into his child a bad image of himself or dumb beliefs of justice — and so, shredder stayed with the responsibility of raising the kid on his own
Shredder is evil but the only thing that stops him from being soules is Karai. The one thing he loves, and the one thing he’s proud of.. the only weakness that that demon has.

This part will be really limited since I’m only presenting yall the most basic aspects of my au and what happens in the beginning of the story — you learn a lot more as the story develops and yall see a lot of changes in designs, after all the story starts with them as kids and end with everyone being +25 so yeah, there’s A LOT of things that will change lol
Starting with Casey and keeping on with the previous info about her having a secret identity:
Casey was the daughter of a very well known vigilante, in taking Batman level famous, WHOLE city knew about him. Her mother was his sidekick, but she died giving birth to her, so Casey’s only parent was her father. She wanted to be like him so, when he passed away when she was 11 by fighting a very dangerous gang known as the purple dragons she decided to keep on his legacy and become the next vigilante.
In terms of design her weapons and clothing are supposed to look very tacky and hand made since she does all by her self with very little resources. She lives with her aunt who is absolutely unsupportive of her carrying on being a vigilante, her father has already died because of the same stupid reason and the fact that crime maintained it self at the same level after his passing was enough proof of how useless that role was.
The terrible relation she has with her aunt leads her to typically sleep either at the turtles place or in a random bench so her higiene is not the best. So her hair is supposed to look messy and not have very define curls, her piercings are supposed to be made by herself
- Following with the mikesterrr:
He’s design is supposed to be chubby, his life mission is to skip as much training as he can and eat as much pizzas as turtuly possible
He uses more that one weapon, he uses the nunchakus, kusarigama, he’s the one that most uses the shurikens and later on he will also use straight up chains as weapons too to hang his opponents
His fighting style is honestly my favourite! He has a very silly way of fighting and he will breakdance on your face before hitting you with his nunchakus, also his favourite superhero is spider man so he rlly like to crawls upwards and hit you with his kusarigama simulating its a spider web. He’s fighting will become more violent once he becomes friends with a very dangerous gang knows as the mutanimals and participates in dangerous illegal fights between mutants in the hidden city. Still he will keep the silly aspect of his fighting just instead of breakdancing and hitting you he will breakdance and break your neck
Now Donnie :
Donnie in Bmnt in not supposed to be a nerd in every aspect, he’s passionate about engineering, physics and programming. He really likes to read and learn random facts so he does know a lil bit of everything but he doesn’t really know much about natural sciences, he will start learning about that in the story as they become more interested in their origin and encounter very different types of mutants
Donnie is the youngest so he really exploits the benefits that come with it, sadly for him it also makes him look vet adorable in the eyes of his family.
He has a very good relationship with Casey, she usually helps him with his inventions and is the first to try the prototypes.
Although being the one that resembles his father the most he doesn’t have the best relation with him, his father spended most of the time training Raph into the perfect ninja and didn’t have much time for the rest of them so him and Mikey always went to Leo whenever they needed anything. As they grew they even started joking that he was more their father than Splinter which always made Leo felt pressured into raising them correctly.
Lets keep with Raph shall we?
Raph is very good with animals, it’s kind of a redemption after having to eat them as a kid he says. He’s also very proud of his brothers and loved them a lot although he never admites it, he’s not the best at expressing his emotions
The thing he’s best at expressing is fear, not only is he afraid of too many things for his enormous strong body but he also screams at a very high pitch. He’s usually mistaken for a little girl and usually attracts a pack of dogs. He’s afraid of being alone, cockroaches, extreme highs and water—not in the showering sense but he’s afraid of anything that requires him to swim. After splinter rescued him as a kid he did have a very intense aquafobia, it took a while till he finally got a little over it and started to be able to shower and not be afraid of the rain.
Aprils turn, the brains! :
April was always the smartest in the room. The had an A+ in every signature she had. Her specialty where social studies since she wanted to be a reporter when she grew up but still she had a broad knowledge on biology and was very good at programming and maths.
You can’t even imagine her suprise when the first «person» to appear to be smarter than her was a 9 year old turtle with an anime obsession. Simply embarrassing. They have kind of a competitive relationship where they will show off their achievements but they actually really like each other and complement each other very well. April will become a very important ally of the turtles with her knowledge and persuasive abilities. She will become even more important once they learn her itty-bitty secret… which I’m not gonna tell you yet lol
She dyes the tips of her hair in a dark reddish-pink in reference of her 2003 counterpart. Like her and the 1987 version April is the more mature part of the team and takes care of the turtles in kind of a maternal way
A little bit more about the leader in blue:
He loves cosplaying and wig collecting. This will become a lot more intense after the passing of his master. You will see him wear all lengths and colors, which are not very complementing to the little mustage he’s growing to imitate his father. He’s the only one of his brothers to grow hair (I mean the mustage only, none can grow any other type of hair, the only reptile to have hair in all of his body is Mondo Gecko)
He really loves cartoons and tipically watches them with Mikey and Raph (although Raph swears theyre stupid and immature). He watches anime with Donnie as they cook. Cooking used to be only Leo’s thing, Donnie started coming to watch his animes in the kitchen and Leo became interested, so they started watching them together as Leo cooked but it didn’t take long till Donnie started helping him and they made it into a bonding activity.
Mikey is not allowed in the kitchen. Not after the accident… of making the most DEVIOUS dish in the planet and almost intoxicating the whole family and titling himself an “abstract cook”
Following by the turtles as a whole: there aren’t many things that all of them share in common:
Leo and Raph have kind of a competitive relation indulge by their father but they share the need of protecting their younger siblings and each other
Mikey and Donnie tell each other their secrets and problems
They do share in common their love for protecting the city (for now) and also they have a favourite band called the WhoGafs which they typically see their online shows. It’s a family ritual to watch them together, Casey is part of it too.
So how exactly did the turtles met Casey?
Haven’t rlly decided the age in which they did but they where young and Casey’s dad had already passed away (when she was around (12-14). Raph was having a “nobody loves me” episode and ran away as Casey was escaping by the window of her aunts house to fight crime. They bumped into each other in a dark alley and Raph thought Casey would see him as a demon or something, and her carrying a bat only made him think she was about to attack him.
Casey dropped the bat and started saying in amazement how cool he was, Raph was really confused. After a very long rant of her explaining how cool she considered him and how she wasn’t scared cause she’s Casey Jones and she doesn’t fear anything and bla bla bla she invited him to fight with her, which help him to release all his anger and frustration, violence was awesome!
His family finally found them and Casey was just more amazed and since she’s really difficult to get rid of she became a friend of the Hamatos and Splinter started training her too. Casey saw Splinter as kind of a father figure and the turtles as her found brothers.
Will it include more characters as mains?
Just one that I’ll talk about in the future, still there are A LOT of different characters that I gave complex stories and backgrounds so yall should def look into it if you’re interested in the mutanimals, Renet, the foot clan members, and more 👀
