i need Niki to go the red banquet solely so she can see Puffy and then personify the "going through a rough patch but still desperately pining" trope as the night goes on. i can vividly imagine Niki circling the dance floor so she always has Puffy in her sight, but never approaching from the uncertainty of where they stand with each other...
