the fucked-up part is that I specifically notice this in like, BIPOC or queer romances because their authors a) are more likely to be harassed online b) tend to care about writing inclusive and intersectional books more, both of which are totally valid reasons, but unfortunately a book that is scared to be misunderstood is also scared to challenge the reader or allow for too much nuance or grey areas or character flaws and I am sorry to say that it often makes for less compelling stories because it means shying away from ambiguities and complexities in an effort to reassure me, the reader, that everyone here is a Good Person engaging in Healthy Behaviours and Relationships

Trans discourse: Nonbinary people who don’t medically transition aren’t nearly at risk rn as trans people have or are medically transitioning. Why? You can more than likely camouflage your self. We can’t. It’s okay to admit you have privilege and not everything is the oppression Olympics. That being said, I swear if I see another chronically online person trying to cancel a black trans woman for expressing this I will scream. Yes I understand your identity and mine are being erased it’s not fair. I am also medically transitioning and lean masc. I am on T. I’m scared of not being able to have access to my medication. And even if I DO stop I still have my Adam’s Apple and deeper voice and short hair. I’m FUCKED I can’t camouflage. My husband? Also FUCKED. Yes camouflaging sucks AND you’ll be safe. We won’t be. This is especially true for poc medically transitioning peeps. It’s not trans medicalist it’s just facts. Not everything is about you. AND THATS OKAY.

Hearing the whole “Americans didn’t beat the nazis” thing is so exhausting and counterproductive. Spoiler alert: America isn’t the only country affected by Trump, so this could apply to literally any allies in WW2 (which is more than you think, lots of countries fought alongside Britain and we’re eternally indebted to them). Also even if America failed to rid the world of Nazis in the past until like the last moment where they joined the allies, then surely now is simply an opportunity for them to do it earlier?
