Do you like thrillers if so do you have a top 5?
I love psychological thrillers!
Usually I prefer thrillers that are not just straight thrillers but incorporate other genres as well like friendship, found family, romance, etc.
Top 5 Favorite K-Drama Thrillers:
The Smile Has Left Your Eyes: This is a seriously creepy and unusual k-drama with mystery and thriller elements elements. I LOVED it so much I watched it twice. It’s a remake of a jdrama (which I did not watch) and you will get chills watching, but you’ll also fall in love with morally grey characters. There are some soft romance moments as well. Amazing actors and there’s really no other k-drama like it.
Psychopath Diary: What a wild ride of a k-drama! Yoon Shi Yoon plays a goofy and innocent character who witnesses a murder and then gets amnesia. For kdrama reasons he’s convinced he’s the actual murderer and begins to lean into the role. The whole thing is a bunch of crazy mixups but the chemistry between the innocent guy and the killer is just…awesome! It’s funny and creepy and a great watch.
He Is Psychometric: A mystery surrounding a building fire that leaves two people orphaned brings a rookie cop and a boy with incredible psychic powers together. There are crimes and mysteries of course, but there is also healing, heartbreak and romance with lighthearted moments as well. It’s got a youthful spirit to it that’s really refreshing.
Come and Hug Me: Two children are torn apart when the boy’s dad kills the girls entire family. Later in life, they find one another and walk on the path to healing while still being tormented by their past. It also focuses on the trauma and manipulation the killer has on the whole family, making the show beautiful, terrifying and heartbreaking at the same time. This has one of my favorite kdrama couples of all time and I’ve watched this show twice already and plan on watching again. My only gripe is…actually I won’t tell you because you might like that feature.
Hello Monster/ I Remember You: A fascinating kdrama about a serial murderer, and a genius criminologist trying to track him down. The characters are great and your heart will go out to pretty much everyone. Plus, I LOVE D.O. as a featured serial murderer. I wasn’t into the romance in the show, but everyone else was just perfect in that show-y kdrama way.
I want to give a bonus shoutout to Secret Forest/Stranger since it’s super good. It’s more of a crime and corruption drama but is definitely suspenseful and really well made. If you need romance, skip it…actually don’t. I didn’t skip it and it was worth it - You’ll LOVE the main duo.
