Falling In Love With Michael Headcanons
Requested by: ME, BABESSSS
At first, it would take Michael awhile to even admit he seen you that way.
He'd welcome into you in 'the good place', show you around, then he'd expect that, for the most part, that would be the last he seen of you.
No matter what he did in his neighborhood, no matter where he put you, no matter who he said your soulmate was, you always found your way back to him. You always found your way to his side, you always sought him out. And, what was even more curious, he always sought you out as well.
It wasn't until the 3rd or 4th reboot that he realized he had feelings for you.
And it completely shut him down.
Soon, he could barely focus on his neighborhood, and his thoughts became completely engulfed in you.
He constantly asked himself the same question over and over again.
How did a demon ever manage to fall in love with a human? It shouldn't have been possible, and yet it happened.
He ended up asking Janet how (or really why) it happened, needed at least some sort if answer to the one problem he didn't think he could solve, but she didn't provide much help as she only said: "You're simply in love, Michael."
He sighed at Janets words as she 'blooped' away, trying to figure out a way to deal with this on his own.
He tried ignoring you, but found it extremely difficult once he noticed how he would unconciously search for you in a crowd, or how no matter where he was going his feet would always manage to take him to you.
He tried to get you closer to your 'soulmate', but would only find it painful as he seen your hands intertwinded, or hear the happiness in your voice you said their name.
Eventually, he found himself more than happy the reboot everything.
Once Vicky began to blackmail him and he decided to team up with you and the other humans, he actually found himself feeling nervous as he came closer and closer to Elenors house.
When he seen you all huddled together in her living room, a sigh of relief quickly escaped him, but it was quickly replaced with a new feeling when he seen the way you were looking at him.
So many emotions crossed your features. You were confused, angry, sad- It actually pained him a demon to know that he, yet again, was the cause of your saddness.
He confessed to wanting to worm together and, as everyone else argued, you made your way to his side at Elenor's ledge leading to her bed.
Despite the chaos filling the room, a defening silence filled the air between you, before you spoke with a sigh.
"Is it really true?" He looked down at you and the heart in his skin suit broke at the sight if your glossy eyes, holding back the tears yearned to flow, as you looked to the floor.
It was his turn to sigh, before looking to the floor as well. "Yes. I know you won't believe me, and I know you don't trust me, but it always pained me. I'm not trying to trick you, I want-"
He was cut off by a sad chuckle, before he turned to you, tears now spilling from your eyes. "Why would I trust you now? For all I know, you're just using my feelings to torture me!"
He quickly stood in front of you, staring into your eyes while you continued to look to the floor. "What can I do to prove it? What can I get you- I'll get you anything-"
"I don't want things, Michael." You looked into his eyes once again, tears still managing to fall as he froze under your gaze. "I want proof."
His hands went behind his back, as a shakey breath escaped his lips. "Then I'll give it too you."
After that, he sat in Chidi's philosophy classes without compliant.
He genuinely ended up surprising you as he slowly became engaged in the class. It seemed as though he was actually trying to be a better person, and the thought alone warmed your heart.
That was until you all came into Michaels office one day, only to find Shawn. They then explained that you were in the bad place (as though you didn't already know) which was followed by a roast at the 'cockroaches' expense.
And when he got to you, it seemed as though he was truly aiming to hurt.
"And then there's you! You're undoubtedly one of the stupidest humans I've EVER encountered! Not only did you fall in love with a demon, but you ACTUALLY thought you could change me! I wish I could put YOU under the trolley in Chidi's little problem!"
As the crowd of demons laughed on, you couldn't help the huff of saddness and anger which escaped you as Michael continued to stare from his podium.
After the demons had left and everyone lifted themselves up from the traintracks, you stared up at Michael who, despite the train only just leaving, was already crying as he stared down at you.
You quickly ran into his arms, being engulfed in a hug as he continued to mutter apologies into your hair.
You laughed, before burying your face into his chest. And the rest in history.
