Before chapter 5
This is me writing down my thoughts so, if I somehow get to say "I guessed that!", I have something to point at as proof.
That being said I don't expect that to happen.
It's long, but there's a TLDR at the end if you want the short, sweet, and boring
People keep saying Carol's whole thing is preservation, but I think it could be power and control
It's also said that Knight is Dess, because Knight does ice skating moves, but I always saw the Knight as more dainty, and Dess more... Hockey player-ish, which would more wide stanced, and lower to the ground-- Yes, I want Carol to be the Knight, what can I do?
What if, back in the day, Carol was a figure skater. She was on top of the world, winning competition left and right. She's in peak shape, and she has an absolute control of her body.
Then she finds out she's pregnant with Dess, and after having her, she can't get back into that same agility and strength she had, try as she might.
She's the fallen star, mentioned in that book in ch4
She's pissed at Dess for ruining her perfectly planned life, and she is a head strong tomboy, so Carol can't even live vicariously through her.
But... She wants it all.
Somehow she gets in touch with Gaster (or whatever, not important to me), and his device gets built in the shelter (you know, the thing he falls in in Undertale, again, not really the point)
Before long, Dess gets interested. Where does mom always go to? She says she's working, but she isn't at the town hall.
So Dess follows her, but she needs codes. She finds her mom's code, then the church code, and she gets Kris in on it to get the last one from Asgore (which is the reason for his removal).
Then one night, Dess and Kris go to the shelter, enter the codes, and...
It's dark. Dark and damp. They follow a faint glow to a door "Sewer Entrance" (I always thought that the shelter was connected to the lake, but Toilet Theory made it make sense) They go through the door and in the room they see two figures. The figures are talking, and they try to sneak closer to hear...
But the figure in the middle of the room hears them and turns around. It's Carol. Dess goes off on her, demanding answers, explanations. Kris is just a child, they are just standingin place, watching it unfold.
Carol knows she won't be able to get Dess to keep quiet, so she gets physical, pushes her, where she meant into the water, but Dess falls into the machine(? Core? CrEaTiOn? Idc)
Kris tries to turn and run but falls over their own feet. Their horn headband falls and slides under something.
Carol turns to Kris. Tells them she has a job for them. And that they better do what she says or Dess won't be the only one falling in.
Dess is in the code and and the music that can be heard in the lake is her "essence" or something in the sewer/water
TLDR:
Carol works with Gaster(?) in the shelter on something (the device?)
Kris knows what happened to Dess and it happened in the shelter, and it has something to do with Carol and the promise.
Asgore was removed from the force because he couldn't keep the code safe/he got too close to the truth
Kris' headband is in the shelter
I don't like Carol
I'm most confident about the headband. "What about the Knight and the baseball bat?" I don't know! We don't know it's a bat, I mean c'mon, carol has AT LEAST THREE (3) KATANAS. One in the kitchen, one next to her bed (kinky) and one on her person, because she cuts through that diaper guy's briefcase! Also I don't care, I kinda like Asriel knight now (really liked the points made in this)
I just wish Carol doesn't get redeemed too much at the end. I wanna see Noelle stand up for herself and not immediately forgive her. Also think Toriel is kind of a bad mom too. Rudy is the only parent I trust at this point.
