Hopper whenever he saw Mike and El together
Hopper when El didn't stick to the 3-inch-rule
Hopper and Joyce when Dustin and Suzie were singing while they tried to open the safe
Hopper and Joyce when they were bickering although they just wanted to go down to business and be together
Murray whenever Dustin or Erica opened their mouths
Literally everyone in Stranger Things 3
Bonus:
Me when Mike and Lucas were treating their friends (especially Will) badly
some of my thoughts about ST3 characters/pairings
Mileven (a little long but i have a lot to say & theyâre my faves, so)
Okay first of all Iâd like to address the make outs again real quick because when we just had the leaks I thought maybe they were actually more intense when you watched them in the episode, but turns out it wasnât the case at all. I genuinely donât get why so many people were outraged about them, it was very innocent and sweet and yâall are ridiculous
I absolutely LOVED them this season, I didnât expect things to go in that direction and it was actually way better than what I had in mind after last season. I was scared that maybe their relationship would be too adult-like and i thought it could feel weird considering theyâre still very much kids. In season 2 they was super intense but then at the Snow Ball they were back to acting like children in love. It was innocent, lighter, and thatâs what it felt like this season too. Yes theyâre in love, yes itâs real love⌠but theyâre still children! Theyâre clueless, they donât always know how to communicate properly, they donât know how hard relationships actually are. They needed to learn a lot of things, and they did!
Iâve seen many people say that Mike as *too* clueless and awkward this season but I personally really loved it. He starts by being super cocky, he thinks heâs the king of the world but then things go wrong and he has to reevaluate how he acts & take a good look at himself. Also heâs a nerd, heâs going through puberty, heâs becoming a teen⌠I think it would have been super unrealistic for him to be super smooth with girlsÂ
El dumping him was a very funny moment (even if my heart kind of broke for Mike), and I did like how it was meant to bring Lucas & Mike closer together. They needed to be separated I think, it would have been kind of annoying to see them attached to the hip 24/7 so Iâm very glad they made this decision.Â
I know a lot of people had headcanoned that they say I love you a lot and are super open with their feelings, but letâs not forget that unless theyâre in a life or death situation where everything is intensified, they are actually quite awkward and shy with each other. Remember Mike asking her to the Snow Ball in season 1? And the actual Snow Ball scene? It wasnât super smooth, there was blushing, they could barely look in each otherâs eyes in the beginning etc⌠Again, theyâre kids! They know that saying I love you is a HUGE deal & itâs always a super scary thing to say, especially for the very first time in your life. I loved how it was done, I loved how stunned Mike was (bc letâs be real he didnât expect her to say it), I loved how proud of herself El was, I love that it was quick and awkward. It was just SUPER realistic for 14 year olds.Â
Iâm not at all worried about them in the next season. Theyâve been separated for a year, then reunited. They went through a honeymoon phase, then some hardships, and came out the other side stronger, more open, and with better communication. Itâs only positive things! It was important to show them struggle with their first relationship & find their groove, while still remaining not *too* serious.Â
Will
Iâm VERY happy that for once he was with the party and working with everybody else!!! I really loved his storyline, he really was that kid whoâs super nostalgic about how things used to be and doesnât want things to change, but he eventually learns that it kind of has to, and itâs not anyoneâs fault.Â
Iâd like to address the scene in Mikeâs garage: Mike saying âiâm sorry you donât like girlsâ was NOT homophobic and if youâre saying that Iâm sorry but youâre literally forgetting the entire context. Mike is being attacked by Will for liking girls, Will obviously isnât into them⌠and Mike is actually right. Itâs not his fault that Will feels out of touch. Also I personally automatically felt like it was a way of showing that Mike knows Will is gay. After all theyâre becoming teens, Dustin Mike and Lucas are probably talking about girls all the time. Someone must have noticed that Will doesnât show any interest in them, & if we know anything about Mike itâs that he would definitely notice something like that.Â
Jancy
I was very lukewarm about them going into this season because I thought their season 2 storyline was kind of boring and poorly executed, but I LOVED them in season 3!! They did a great job at showing that they had an established couple dynamic & the tensions were super well executed. Again, I was impressed. Obviously Charlie & Natalia have a great chemistry and I actually shed a few tears at their last scenes together. Their storylines really made me appreciate not only their characters individually more, but also the ship in general & i wasnât expecting this at all.
The scene with Nancy and her mom talking in the kitchen may be one of my favourites of the entire show, Cara Buono is so wonderful. I loved their dynamic in season 1, I thought it was so realistic & I was a little sad that they didnât bring that back in season 2. It was also a very good idea to bring a discussion about sexism (specifically in the work place), it feels very in touch with the times and more modern.Â

BILLY IS THE AMERICAN!!!!!!
Okay so like,,,, here's the thing. It seems like everyone is either Hopper or Billy when it comes to trying to figure out who was "the american". (And yeah. Of course. It could have just been some random ass American but come on the duffers writing isnt that bad.) And I am 100% certain it was Billy.
The duffers said they were going to kill off a major character this season, who, of course, was Hopper. Which is one big reason for me thinking that somehow the Russians have Billy.
Here's the thing. If they had Hopper, what use would they be to him?? He's just some small town sheriff who didn't know much about what he was doing. So what would be the point of them keeping him around (in theory, for interrogation?) Billy, on the other hand, was possessed by the Mind Flayer. Maybe there's a possibility he could still have a connection to it, like Will did. Maybe the Russians could try to learn how to use the upside down through using Billy.
And Hopper's death (unlike Billy's) was meaningful. It moved the plot forward. Billy's death didn't do anything for the plot. Everyone is talking about how badly they wrote Billy's death sequence but maybe they did that on purpose. So it wouldn't seem final, so it wouldn't have a lot of value. So that they could just bring him back without a second thought.
All I'm saying is that the Russians have him and he's gonna be back. And that I am not willing to accept that he's dead.
Stranger Things 3 Spoilers
Does anyone else think itâs suspicious that they played the song âHeroesâ by Peter Gabriel right after Eleven was finished reading Hopperâs letter? The same song they played during Willâs FAKE death moment back in season 1? Iâm not saying Hop is alive â BUT HOP IS ALIVE.
the tragedy of Will Byers
I came to an awful realisation.Â
Will Byers could have been written out of this season and nothing would have changed.
His character was unnecessary and useless.
After he tells the gang that the Mindflayer is back and possibly possessing people again he literally becomes an empty body.
Think about all the scenes he was in after that. He could have just as easily not been there.
He had no significant conversations, contributed no significant ideas.
They would have been able defeat Billy in the sauna without him.
They would have been able to battle in Starcourt without him.
Even moving away, he could have easily not been in that scene. You still would have had The Party and Nancy giving tearful goodbyes to El and Jonathan.
Donât get me started on his stupid as fuck spidey-sense powers. They were basic and didnt really do anything but let people know the Mindflayer was coming 3 seconds before it shows up. He was a glorified warning system that they didnât even need.
He was justâŚ.. there.
And Will Byers did not deserve that. His character did not deserve that.
After how SIGNIFICANT his character was in the previous two seasons. It breaks my heart what they did to him.Â
How impotent they made him. And how little his presence was needed.
It breaks my fucking heart.
Okay but the way the scene "it's not my fault you don't like girls" was played cannot mean anything else than Will being gay.
Listen. The moment Mike says it, will's face is not one of frustration that his friend is being dense, or of anger for his friend to be thinking that THAT was the point. His face was of "I can't believe you said that. It's not your fault, but it's not mine either. If I could choose, if I could change, you know I would".
It was clearly a low blow.
And instantly, Mike regrets what he says and not in a "hah you know I didn't mean it like that" or "I meant you don't like girls YET". He apologises and we can see that he knows he fucked up, he knows that he shouldn't have mentioned that.
Which means that Mike knows. I haven't finished the season yet, but from this conversation between these two, I think it's safe to say that Will told Mike he was gay and Mike used it against Will when he was mad at him.
These reactions plus what Will told Joyce about never falling in love, to me, speaks volumes. All his friends have SOs now, so he could be like "yeah maybe some day but I'm still a kid and don't wanna think about that", but no, his reaction was "this was never going to happen". And to me it meant that that's because he will never be allowed to really date a guy. So it doesn't matter if he falls in love, he won't be able to enjoy a relationship like his friends.
An afterthought was, when Will said "I think I did (think we would always be in Mike's basement and play DnD and read comics)", it felt, to me, that it meant something along the lines of "you know I won't be able to have someone to love, but I still have you guys, who will always be by my side". But that showed Will that no, as you grow, you can't count on anyone else anymore. And him destroying Castle Byers, to me, was a mirror of what he felt, his innocence that he might find comfort in things of the past was destroyed.
That really broke my heart.
Edit: please don't mention anything from episode 5 on, because I only watched til episode 4. Thanks!

Josephine Baker (1920s)
WOCLOVING BLACK HISTORY MONTH:
Josephine Baker was a French (formerly American) actress, singer, dancer, activist and French Resistance agent. Described by Ernest Hemingway as being âthe most sensational woman anyone ever sawâ
Born in St Louis to a black family in a low income neighbourhood, she started dancing on Broadway at 15. After this she moved to Paris and became incredibly successful.
Baker became a French Resistance agent during WW2 and supplied information to the Deuxième Bureau (french military agency) which she had gotten from high ranking German, Italian and Japanese officials.
Baker was incredibly active during the civil rights movement in the 1950s. She refused to perform at segregated clubs and gave talks on equality. The NAACP declared the 20th of May âJosephine Baker dayâ
It was also worth noting that Baker was bisexual and was in a relationship with Frida Kahlo.

Iâm trying to save up to be able to move away from her and to continue to be able to afford to keep taking medicine thatâs necessary for me to get through the day (and to continue transitioning, but atm thatâs a secondary concern.) If you can spare the money, my venmo is here ( @ alchemical ) and if you donât have venmo, you can dm me about other payment options, or if you want compensation, you can also dm me about writing commissions.
