“ you’re so full of shit. ”

she shoves away the manila folder, nearly forcing it onto the floor. there’s hostility in her voice when she speaks, sneered through her teeth, “ if you think i’m gonna say anythin’ just ‘cause you come in here and try to pull the whole ‘ he talk, she talk ’ thing, y’can shove it up your ass. ” she leans back in her chair, eyes back to the clock.

“ how long y’gonna hold us? pretty sure you ain’t got anythin’ on me or jacob. already told ya’ we weren’t there. ”

he’s far from amused, he looks over when the folder falls onto the floor, papers scattering. doesn’t bother picking them up, looks back towards her, expression blank--he gives next to nothing away, ‘ i’m only asking for the TRUTH, ’ elijah stands from his seat, pushes it in. as he rounds the table, he stops at the edge, leaning back.

‘ want to know what i think? i think you’re covering for him, blanche. when you don’t have to. ’

’ why do i gotta want somethin’? ’ the burrito isn’t dripping out of the wrapper - not yet at least. but if the detective doesn’t take it soon… jacob can’t guarantee the cleanliness of his passenger seat. his hand remains out in offer & he takes a bit of his own food to emphasize the other mans need to take it. he chews , mouth open just to be obnoxious before swallowing & carrying on.

‘ just thought ya might be hungry , yanno? sittin’ in the car… followin’ me around & shit. ’

‘ i don’t want it, ’ his tone is final, offers no room for argument. but he doubts that will ward jacob off. the smell of grease and beef isn’t really appetizing, but he finally sighs, reaches over and takes it within his hand. just to avoid any type of mess, ‘ waste of money. ’ he tells him, rolling down the window beside him and tossing it out.

he looks back at the kid, ‘ no one’s followin’ you. what reason would i have to? unless --you’re up to somethin’, right? ’

he doesn’t take it--does not want it. he keeps his eyes directly on the kid, no reply given for a short while. it does not surprise him that he was spotted, he wasn’t really trying to continue on quietly. but he was hoping his car wouldn’t be recognizable, at the very least.

she BARELY reacts to the folder, she only glances down at it briefly, then back to the clock on the wall. if he’s trying to intimidation tactic ( good cop, bad cop ) he’s doing a shitty job.

“ suspicion? sounds like shit to me. so you pretty much arrested me for no good reason, right? ” her voice is calm, normal in volume, “ mmm, y’know, i’m a little fuzzy on the details. can never remember it too well. ”

‘ we arrested you for a reason. you and your FRIEND. ’

‘ he already told us all we need to know, no point in drawin’ it out, right? would probably be better to hear it out of your mouth, coming clean. and you don’t want to do that, we can always go back to my first question, ’ he readies a pen, tapping lightly on the blank sheet of paper in front of him.

“excuse me,” her voice must’ve been too soft for him to hear her the first time, her fingers drum along the top of the wooden desk. visibly, she hesitates before speaking again, “i saw the missing persons paper for the the eleven-year-old boy yesterday. i think i saw…him in my aunt’s convenience store a few days ago, before he disappeared.”
