A Farewell Message from PeterPlatinum

Dear Justice League Infinite readers and the Infinite Crisis community:

As some of you may have noticed, I haven’t updated JL∞ in a little while. I’ve spent the last week or so doing a bit of soul-searching—thinking about this site and my role in the Infinite Crisis community as a whole. And it saddens me to report that I’ve decided to place Justice League Infinite on indefinite hiatus. This will likely be my last post.

I will always be proud to have started the first Infinite Crisis fansite. I created JL∞ on March 28, 2013—three days after the game was announced, and in the past 6 months, I’ve made over 70 posts, amassed over 200 Twitter followers, and formed great relationships with other members of the community. But I’ve always viewed this site as an experiment, and in judging the success of that experiment, I have repeatedly asked myself the same three questions:

(1) Do I enjoy producing the site? (2) Can I devote enough time to produce the site properly? (3) Is the site fulfilling a specific need within the Infinite Crisis community?

I will say as an initial matter that I have always enjoyed producing JL∞. I remain a devoted fan of Infinite Crisis, and this site gave me an outlet for that devotion and an excuse to dive into the nooks and crannies of the game. In recent weeks, however, my answers to the second and third questions have changed, and they’ve led me to this difficult decision. The strengthening current of daily Infinite Crisis information has transformed JL∞ from a few-hours-per-week hobby into a full-time job, and I’ve reached the point where in order to maintain this site, I’d have to make sacrifices in some other part of my life—be it my profession, time with my family, or one of my other interests. I imagine that this would only become a larger problem in the future.

There have also been a number of welcome developments in the Infinite Crisis community since I began JL∞. For one, Turbine has significantly increased its efforts to communicate with its players about the game—through community streams, webshows like The Construct, and social media. In addition, the community itself has grown, and players can now get their Infinite Crisis news, builds, and strategy from any number of different sources. Even though I’ve decided to step aside, a number of capable individuals will continue to carry the torch.

Even though JL∞ will no longer be part of my life, I remain committed to contributing to the Infinite Crisis community as best I can. That may mean streaming, or shoutcasting, or producing guides and videos—I’m still trying to figure out what I’d like to do. But I will continue to love this game, and I will continue to do whatever I can to contribute to its long-term success.

Finally, I’d just like to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this message. Thank you to everyone who ever followed, bookmarked, or read Justice League Infinite. Thank you to Cardell, Sera, Leo, and others for all the e-mails, tweets, and kind words. And thanks to Turbine and the community for creating this game—this thing—that I adore so much.

New Costume: Olympian Shazam

After this morning's maintenance and update, the Infinite Crisis store features a new costume for Shazam—one more befitting his magical heritage. Olympian Shazam features a red-and-white toga, gold armor, and some serious gravitas. It's a great alternative to his "New 52" default costume, and should fit well thematically with Greek Goddess Wonder Woman.

Custom Matchmaking Coming Soon

When entering a custom lobby, players are placed in the "Unassigned Players" section, and can choose to join the Blue Legion or Red Brigade by clicking the colored arrows next to their name.

Each custom lobby will have a Coordinator, who is designated by a star. This individual can assign players to teams, grant other players the privilege to invite players to the lobby, and pass his or her Coordinator status to another player.

For the initial release, each custom lobby must be 5v5, have 10 players, and cannot be listed publicly (you have to invite 9 friends).

The Coordinator does not have to participate in the match. Any players remaining in the "Unassigned Players" section when the match is launched are returned to the main client page.

There are no AI bots...yet.

There is no observer option, but Turbine is hoping to add that functionality in the future.

Custom Matchmaking will be added to Infinite Crisis in the October patch.

Champion Profile: Catwoman

Catwoman's skills are:

Cat Burglar (Passive): The cooldowns of Catwoman's skills are reduced whenever she collects a coin. In addition, her basic attacks cause bonus coins to appear. Whip Strike (Q): Catwoman cracks her whip at a targeted enemy, dealing Attack Damage. She deals additional damage if the target is at the skill's maximum range. Cat's Paw (W): Catwoman uses her whip to trip a targeted enemy, dealing Attack Damage, and reducing their Move Speed. Acrobat (E): Catwoman cartwheels forward. In addition, she gains additional effects to Whip Strike and Cat's Paw for a short time. The buff grants additional damage to enemies targeted by Whip Strike and a knockdown effect to enemies targeted by Cat's Paw. Bad Kitty (R): When activated, targets of Catwoman's basic attacks and skills suffer an Attack Damage bleed effect for a short time. In addition, her Acrobat skill is upgraded to Savage Acrobat, which has no Will cost, a shorter cooldown than Acrobat, and deals Attack Damage to enemies in the path of Catwoman's cartwheel.

Closed Beta 4 Patch Notes Part 1: Global Changes and Maps

Global Changes

Graphical Options for Low-Spec Computers The Infinite Crisis client now includes a new graphical rendering mode designed for players with less-powerful machines. This will help lower the game's system requirements, and ultimately allow more players to experience IC.

Bug Fixes

Inability of players using ATI graphics cards to see certain textures and objects after loading the game.

Early game frame drops and movement "stuttering" (note: players have reported that this issue still exists).

Miscellaneous Changes

The ability to add groups to the "ignored" and "recently played" sections of the friends list has been removed.

The button to remove a player from the "ignored" section of your friends list is now labeled "unignore".

Players outside your friends list can now be invited to a game group.

A new chat panel has been added to the game lobby.

The attack-to-move key (A) has a unique cursor when used.

Each team's base restores Health and Will at a slower rate.

Champions with an Attack Speed below 1 will no longer have slower attack animations.

Champions who last-hit a drone while under a turret will still receive full credits for doing so.

Drones and neutral monsters will no longer disappear on the minimap through the fog of war when killed.

The amount of Merit awarded at the end of a match has been increased, and is now based on the duration of the match.

Maps

Gotham Heights

Characters will no longer land in or pass through environmental items during the opening cinematic.

The match timeline now includes an event to signal the beginning of a match.

Coast City

An announcement will be made when jungle camps spawn at the beginning of a match.

The planters in the bottom lane are thinner and can be dashed through or attacked over more easily.

The farmer's market near the top lane is now open from the beginning of the match, and the military headquarters at the top of the map opens soon after.

Each team's Power Core is now guarded by two turrets instead of one.

The Health and damage of turrets closer to each team's Power Core has been increased.

Turret shields will be reduced as they are damaged. Power Core turrets will regain their shields as they heal.

Drones have increased Health and Move Speed, modified damage and Attack Speed, and take more damage from turrets.

Drones will no longer switch targets randomly or target a champion in response to the champion attacking a drone.

Drones now prefer to target melee drones over ranged and siege drones.

Melee and ranged drones will stop targeting a turret if new targets become available. Siege drones, however, will continue targeting the turret.

Jungle camp experience per level has been increased for lead creatures and decreased for other creatures.

The lead creature in each jungle camp now drops a pack upon death. The first champion to come in contact with the pack will regain Health, Will, and Energy based on the percentage of each statistic the champion is missing.

The experience gained from killing the Destroyer (lead creature in the largest jungle camp) has been decreased, but the experience offered by other Tier 1 camps has been increased to compensate.

The Destroyer's spawn time has been decreased to 3 minutes.

The Health and damage of the Doomsday Device's turret has been increased.

The Doomsday Device levels up at a quicker pace, making early-match captures more difficult.

The Doomsday Device has a shorter firing time and a smaller impact area.

The Doomsday Device's impact area will no longer persist on the minimap.

The cinematic at the end of each match has been lengthened and polished.

New Champion: Arcane Green Lantern

Today marked the release of the Closed Beta 4 patch, full of new items, graphical improvements, balance changes, and much, much more. JL∞ will have more coverage throughout the rest of the week, but let's not kid ourselves—you all want to know about Arcane Green Lantern. Here are the final tooltips and statistics on his skills, as well as his unique Stolen Power.

New Champion: Arcane Green Lantern

Emerald Light (Passive)

Trigger: When Arcane Green Lantern damages an enemy with a Basic Attack, they receive the Emerald Light effect for 3 seconds.

When an allied champion uses a Basic Attack on a target with Emerald Light, that ally regains 20/30/40/50 + 50% Power Damage Health over 4 seconds.

Cooldown: 10 seconds

Construct Champion (Q)

Arcane Green Lantern constructs a knight that marches forward, dealing 50/85/120/155 + 50% Power Damage and knocking up all enemies it touches for 1 second. If Construct Champion is activated a second time, Arcane Green Lantern will blink to the knight's location, taking its place and dispelling it.

Cost: 50 Will

Cooldown: 16/14/12/10 seconds

Shackles (W)

Enemy champions near Arcane Green Lantern's lantern lose 25/30/35/40% Move Speed for 3 seconds, while they remain within range of the lantern. If they are still within range when the effect expires, then they will be rooted (unable to move or use movement abilities) for 1 second.

Cost: 60/70/80/90 Will

Cooldown: 12 seconds

Emerald Lantern (E)

Active: Arcane Green Lantern throws his lantern, dealing 60/100/140/180 + 55% Power Damage in an area. The lantern remains in the targeted spot for 12 seconds, granting vision of the area. If he touches the lantern, he will retrieve it, and Emerald Lantern's current cooldown will be reduced by 6 seconds.

Passive: The lantern grants nearby allies 10/15/20/25 Attack Armor.

Cost: 40/50/60/70 Will

Cooldown: 12 seconds

Deny the Black (R)

Arcane Green Lantern channels for 2 seconds and then teleports to the targeted ally. As soon as he begins channeling the ally receives a shield that blocks 235/340/445/550 + 150% Power Damage and lasts for 6 seconds, and the fog of war is revealed in a large area around them. Enemies within the this area receive the Emerald Light effect.

Cost: 90 Will

Cooldown: 145/130/115/100 seconds

Arcane Green Lantern's Healing Wave (Unique Stolen Power)

Original Text: Heal yourself and nearby allies for 40 Health. Further Healing Waves within 30 seconds will have their effectiveness reduced by 50%.

Arcane Green Lantern's Healing Wave: You and nearby champions also gain 10 Power Armor and 10 Attack Armor for 5 seconds.

Scheduled Maintenance on Tuesday, CB4 on Wednesday

You may have to alter your Infinite Crisis plans a bit this week, but it's for a good cause. On Tuesday, September 17, the IC website and in-game store will be down from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM EST for scheduled maintenance. But fear not, for this is mere prelude to Wednesday, September 18's release of the Closed Beta 4 (CB4) patch, which will include new artifacts and the eagerly-anticipated Arcane Green Lantern.

JL∞ will have complete coverage of CB4 throughout the rest of the week, including patch notes, Arcane Green Lantern's final skills and stats, and much, much more. While you're waiting for your new toys, join the discussion below and tell us which part of the patch you're most looking forward to.

New Artifacts Coming in the Next Patch

As you can see, the Foundry now includes a vial of pink liquid and a reddish ring in the "General" section. It's admittedly not much to go on, but I have a few initial thoughts:

The arrangement of the Foundry's "General" section may tell us a bit about the new artifacts. Whereas the Speed Force was previously grouped with the Health Pack and Will Pack, the section now follows the three-group format of the other sections—with the pink vial joining the Health Pack and Will Pack on the left, the red ring by itself in the middle, and the Speed Force by itself on the right. This suggests that the pink vial is consumable, as it is grouped with the other two consumable artifacts.

The pink vial bears a striking resemblance to Oracle's Elixir and Oracle's Extract, two items available in League of Legends which grant stealth detection for a certain period of time. I'd bet that the pink vial will have a similar effect in Infinite Crisis (much to the chagrin of Nightmare Batman and Gaslight Catwoman players).

The red ring likely grants some sort of flat Cooldown Reduction. Stick with me on this one: There are three stat filters listed in the "General" section of the Foundry—Move Speed, Cooldown Reduction, and Credits. Most items granting one of these three also grant some other statistic as well, and are therefore listed in the "Attack," "Health," or "Power" sections. Only the Speed Force, which grants Move Speed and nothing else, is listed in the "General" section. For the red ring to be listed there as well, it must grant one of the other "General" statistics. My guess is Cooldown Reduction.

Champion Profile: Arcane Green Lantern

Arcane Green Lantern's skills are:

Emerald Light (Passive): Arcane Green Lantern places a mark on any enemy hit by one of his skills. Any ally who uses a basic attack against an enemy marked with Emerald Light gains a small amount of health over time. Construct Champion (Q): Arcane Green Lantern creates a stained-glass knight construct that marches forward, dealing Power Damage to and knocking up any enemies it touches. If Arcane Green Lantern activates this skill again before the construct reaches its maximum range, he blinks to the construct's location and destroys it. Shackles (W): Chains emerge from Arcane Green Lantern's lantern, slowing all enemy champions within the lantern's area of effect. When the slow ends, all affected enemies are rooted for a short time. Emerald Lantern (E): Arcane Green Lantern throws his lantern to a target location, dealing Power Damage and granting vision in an area. Allies within the lantern's area of affect receive bonus Attack Armor. If Arcane Green Lantern retrieves his lantern after throwing it, this skill's cooldown is reduced. Deny the Black (R): When activated, the vision range of Arcane Green Lantern's lantern is increased, and all enemies within the lantern's area of effect are marked with Emerald Light. Arcane Green Lantern can activate the skill again to teleport to an ally's location and grant them a shield.

It is expected that Arcane Green Lantern will be officially released as part of Infinite Crisis's next major patch. Atomic Green Lantern Model, New Champion Next Week?

On Wednesday, Turbine released Behind the Scenes: Part 2, which features interviews with key development team members and shares some of the design philosophy behind Infinite Crisis. It's largely a fluff piece designed to attract potential players, but discerning viewers may have noticed a few shots of the modeling process for upcoming champion Atomic Green Lantern. At the end of the sequence, we get our first look at the champion's in-game model:

Two things about Atomic Green Lantern's look stand out to me. First, I love the inclusion of his bomber jacket, which really sets him apart from the sleek uniform of Green Lantern Prime and the heavy armor of Arcane Green Lantern. Second, the green streaks across Hal's face and torso are a nice touch. Not only do some of the streaks serve a makeshift domino mask, but they represent Atomic Green Lantern's origin, in which his ring is powered by a radioactive isotope that will eventually kill him.

And the best news is that we may not have to wait too long before Atomic Green Lantern is added to the Infinite Crisis roster. On Friday afternoon, this cryptic message was posted to the IC Facebook page:

Hail Protectors! If we were you, we'd keep your eyes peeled for an announcement early next week. You never know what... or who... will be announced.

I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that we'll see the debut of a new champion next week. And based on the rumors I've been hearing, don't be surprised if his favorite color is green.

This past weekend at PAX, Infinite Crisis was once again one of the hottest games on the show floor. Infinite Crisis @ PAX

If you're like me, you're going to be stuck at home this weekend while all the cool kids are hanging out at PAX. If you've never been before (I went in 2011), you should definitely put it on your bucket list.

For those of us who couldn't make the trip to Seattle, MLG and Turbine are streaming plenty of Infinite Crisis action straight from the show floor. Beginning at 1:30 EST today, the Infinite Crisis Twitch channel will be showing live community and exhibition matches, with commentary from MLG's Axslav and Axeltoss. The exhibition matches will feature teams coached by Turbine's own Leo "ElectricLeo" Tan and Mike "IC_Treesberger" Landsberger.

Dev Post Digest: Greek Goddess Wonder Woman Availability

Welcome to the latest installment of Dev Post Digest, with an interesting note from last week regarding the GameStop-exclusive Protector's Edition of Infinite Crisis and its Greek Goddess Wonder Woman costume.

Celestrata on Greek Goddess Wonder Woman

The biggest draws of the Infinite Crisis Founders Program are the exclusive Renaissance Gaslight Batman and Arkham White Batman costumes, which will not available through any other means. When GameStop announced its Protector's Edition of IC, it listed "the exclusive Greek Goddess Wonder Woman costume" as part of the package. This left many completionists miffed at the prospect of spending an additional $60 for a single costume, particularly when a banner on the Infinite Crisis site claimed that the Protector's Edition only provided "early access" to Greek Goddess Wonder Woman.

So which was it—exclusivity, or early access? Protector Tero took to the forums with precisely that question, and received a helpful answer from Community Team member Celestrata:

The skin is indeed an early access costume, and not an exclusive costume. The only exclusive costumes are the Renaissance Gaslight Batman and the Arkham White Batman costumes that are available in our founders packs.

Coast City Permanently Available, Extra Crisis Coins for Founders

Two great announcements today for fans of Infinite Crisis. First, the Coast City map is now available for everyone in the closed beta! If you haven't had a chance to play this innovative two-lane map, be sure to read JL∞'s tips and tricks before you head into the fray.

In addition, Turbine has announced a thank-you gift for early members of the Founders Program—a code good for 500 Crisis Coins. This gift, worth approximately $6, is immediately available for use in the closed beta and will be carried over with the rest of the Founders Program incentives when the beta ends.

New Champion: Atomic Wonder Woman

New Champion: Atomic Wonder Woman

Rev (Passive)

Atomic Wonder Woman gains 1 Rev when she deals damage with a skill. When she has 2 Rev, she is Revved and her next skill has additional effects, but resets her Rev to 0.

When she reaches full Rev, she gains 5/10/15/20 Attack Penetration for 4/5/6/7 seconds.

She loses a point of Rev every 4/5/6/7 seconds. Dealing damage resets this decay.

Vault (Q)

Atomic Wonder Woman leaps to the targeted area, dealing 30/60/90/120 + 30% Bonus Attack Damage to enemies in the area.

Revved: For 4 seconds after using Vault with the Revved bonus, Vault can be activated a second time.

Cooldown: 16/15/14/13 seconds

Smite (W)

For 5 seconds, Atomic Wonder Woman's next Basic Attack deals 32/64/96/128 + 75% Bonus Attack Damage additional Attack Damage.

Revved: Her next basic attack instead deals 48/96/144/192 + 125% Bonus Attack Damage additional Attack Damage.

Cooldown: 8/7/6/5 seconds

Savage Sweep (E)

Atomic Wonder Woman deals 35/65/95/125 + 40% Bonus Attack Damage in a cone. Enemies on the outer edge of the come take an additional 100% damage over 5 seconds, and lose 15/25/35/45% Move Speed for 2 seconds.

Revved: Savage Sweep changes from a cone to a circle, and all targets in the circle are hit as if they were in the edge of the cone.

Cooldown: 8 seconds

Reclaimer (R)

Atomic Wonder Woman runs at a targeted Champion, becoming immune to effects that interrupt her or impair her movement for up to 12 seconds. While running she can move through Champions. When she reaches her target she deals 150/245/340/435 + 100% Bonus Attack Damage, and fills her Rev meter.

During her charge, her target is revealed in the fog of war and in stealth pads.

Cooldown: 140/130/120/110 seconds

Atomic Wonder Woman's Super Speed (Unique Stolen Power)

Original Text: Gain 20% Move Speed and move through enemies for the next 4 seconds.

Atomic Wonder Woman's Super Speed: Gain 20% Move Speed and move through enemies, dealing 20 Attack Damage when you pass through them for the next 4 seconds.

Revealed: Who's Coming to Infinite Crisis Next?

Last week's unveiling of Atomic Wonder Woman raises a very important question—Who will join Infinite Crisis next? We've already seen some likely candidates in the game's promotional art, but will we be limited to Supermen, Wonder Women, and Green Lanterns for the foreseeable future?

Hidden within the asset files of Infinite Crisis is a wealth of information concerning a number of upcoming champions. They are all in various stages of design—some are just a name, while others are much closer to completion. Below you can find some of the information we've unearthed, including names and the text descriptions that will appear in the in-game store. For more information, be sure to check out Dawnbase, which is quickly becoming one of the best community sites for Infinite Crisis statistics and guides.

Bio: Barely surviving the nuclear firestorm, Atomic Green Lantern was nearly killed while trying to save others. While holding aloft tons of rubble that pinned the survivors, his ring's construct suddenly shattered and he was crushed by the falling debris. Hal awoke days later in an emergency clinic to a shocking discovery: his right arm had been amputated. It had been too badly crushed and had tp be removed before it became gangrenous. In addition, his now powerless ring was crushed into his chest and could not be removed without risk to his heart. This left Hal a broken man. Hope returned when a mysterious figure visited Hal in the clinic. He said that he had discovered a radioactive isotope born of the nuclear way that might repair and repower his ring. Strategy: Catwoman uses her whip to harass her enemies from a distance, dealing increased damage from further away. She relies on her acrobatic skills to keep her distance and can even trip her foes up with her whip. If enemies get too close or low on health, Catwoman's claws and kicks can be savage up close! All the while, she uses her skills as a burglar to gain additional credits.
