German adjectives with prepositions
Prepositions can be quite tricky because word-for-word translations don’t always work. I hope this post is helpful @dave-pen 😄
gut in [+Dat] - good at
Ich bin gut in der Schule - I’m good at school.
Sie ist gut in Physik. - She is good at physics.
Er ist richtig gut in diesem Spiel. - He is really good at this game.

verliebt in [+Akk] - in love with
Bist du in jemanden verliebt? - Are you in love with someone?
zufrieden mit [+Dat] - satisfied with, happy with
Wir sind mit dem Ergebnis zufrieden. - We are happy with the result.
unzufrieden mit [+Dat] - discontent, dissatisfied, unhappy with
Bist du mit der Abmachung unzufrieden? - Are you unhappy with the arrangement?
einverstanden mit [+Dat] - “to agree with”
Ich bin größtenteils einverstanden mit dem, was er sagte. - I mostly agree with what he said.
fertig mit [+Dat] - finished, done with
Bist du mit deinen Hausaufgaben fertig? - Are you done with your homework?
verwandt mit [+Dat] - related to
Seid ihr miteinander verwandt? - Are you related?
befreundet mit [+Dat] - “friendly with”
Wir sind miteinander befreundet. - We’re friends.
Ich bin mit ihr befreundet. - I’m friends with her.
verlobt mit [+Dat] - engaged to
Du bist mit jemandem verlobt, der dich wirklich mag. - You’re engaged to someone who really likes you.
verheiratet mit [+Dat] - married to
Sie ist mit ihm verheiratet. - She’s married to him.
geduldig mit [+Dat] - patient with
Danke, dass du so geduldig mit mir bist. - Thank you for being so patient with me.
vergleichbar mit [+Dat] - comparable to / with
Die Lage ist vergleichbar mit der in anderen Ländern. - The situation is comparable to that in other countries.
wütend auf [+Akk] - angry with
Bist du wütend auf mich? - Are you angry with me?
böse auf [+Akk] - angry with
Bist du böse auf mich? - Are you angry with me?
neidisch auf [+Akk] - jealous of
Er war neidisch auf seinen Bruder - He was jealous of his brother.
angewiesen auf [+Akk] - dependent on
Sie sind auf deine Hilfe angewiesen. - They depend on your help.
gefasst auf [+Akk] - “mentally prepared for“
Darauf war ich nicht gefasst. - I wasn’t prepared for that.
Mach dich auf etwas gefasst! - Brace yourself!
stolz auf [+Akk] - proud of
Ich bin stolz auf dich. - I’m proud of you.
vorbereitet auf [+Akk] - prepared for
Ich hoffe, dass du gut auf die Schulaufgabe vorbereitet bist. - I hope you’re well prepared for the exam.
froh über [+Akk] - happy about
Ich bin sehr froh darüber. - I’m very happy about it.
glücklich über [+Akk] - happy about
Sie sind glücklich über das Resultat. - They are happy about the result.
erstaunt über [+Akk] - surprised about
Ich weiß nicht, worüber ihr erstaunt seid. - I don’t know what you are surprised about.
traurig über [+Akk] - sad about
Du wirkst nicht besonders traurig darüber. - You don’t seem too sad about that.
enttäuscht über [+Akk] - disappointed with
Er schien über die Ergebnisse enttäuscht zu sein. - He seemed disappointed with the results.
entsetzt über [+Akk] - horrified by, appalled at / by
Ich war entsetzt über das, was wir sahen. - I was appalled at what we saw.
verärgert über [+Akk] - upset with, upset about
Der König ist verärgert über ihn. - The King is very angry with him.
Ich bin darüber verärgert. - I’m upset about that.
wichtig für [+Akk] - important to
Das ist wichtig für mich (More common: Das ist mir wichtig) - This is important to me.
verantwortlich für [+Akk] - responsible for
Wer ist für dieses Chaos verantwortlich? - Who is responsible for this mess?
unangenehm für [+Akk] - unpleasant
Ich weiß, dass das unangenehm für Sie sein muss. - I know that this must be unpleasant for you.

UV-Strahlen sind schädlich für uns. - UV rays are harmful to us.
gefährlich für [+Akk] - dangerous for
Schokolade ist gefährlich für Hunde. - Chocolate is dangerous for dogs.
giftig für [+Akk] - toxic to
Diese Pflanze ist giftig für Menschen. - This plant is toxic to humans.
typisch für [+Akk] - typical of
Es war typisch für ihn, zu spät zu kommen. - It was typical of him to arrive late.
interessiert an [+Dat] - interested in
Wir sind an Ihrer Wohnung interessiert - We are interested in your apartment.

Ich bin nur daran interessiert, die Ergebnisse zu sehen. - I’m just interested in seeing the results.

Es ist abhängig von der Größe. - It depends on the size.
Sie ist abhängig von Nasenspray. - She’s addicted to nose spray.
überzeugt von [+Dat]- convinced of
Ich bin davon überzeugt. - I’m convinced of this
müde von [+Dat] - tired from
Ich bin sehr müde von der harten Arbeit. - I’m very tired from the hard work.
enttäuscht von [+Dat] - disappointed in
Sie wird sehr enttäuscht von mir sein. - She’s going to be very disappointed in me.
anwesend bei [+Dat] - present at
Er war bei der Versammlung anwesend. - He was present at the meeting.
beliebt bei [+Dat] - popular with / among
Er ist bei den Mädchen beliebt. (Er kommt bei den Mädchen gut an) - He’s popular with the girls.
verrückt nach [+Dat] - crazy about
Diese Typen sind verrückt nach Fußball. - Those guys are crazy about soccer.
allergisch gegen [+Akk] - allergic to
Er ist gegen Erdnüsse allergisch. - He’s allergic to peanuts.
bewusst [+Gen] - aware of
Bist du dir der Folgen bewusst? - Are you aware of the consequences?
los [+Akk] - rid of [colloquial]
Ich bin meine Erkältung los. - I’ve got rid of my cold.
dankbar [+Dat] - grateful
Ich bin dir dankbar. - I am grateful to you.
treu [+Dat] - loyal to
Du warst mir immer treu. - You’ve always been loyal to me.
