#EveryChildMatters June is National Indigenous History Month #NIHM2022 and I was given the opportunity to use art to tell the stories of @gcindigenous Residential School Survivors in a permanent public art piece. I want to thank Saskatoon Transit for allowing me the opportunity to work with the Saskatoon Survivors Circle and thank the Survivors for trusting me to tell their story. I will forever be grateful for being given a chance to make my mark and chase my childhood dreams of being an artist when so many of our people were robbed of theirs. Reconiliation cannot begin without Truth being honoured first. I also dedicate it to little Hannah, who never gets to know just how amazing her mother is. It is my hope that I have captured Whitni's undeniable physical #beauty, but also the beauty of her spirit. Shine Aqua Illusion The final busy for my #Sketchbook Series is those really pretty mermaid. I left out much of the details I originally drew and opted to play with texture. I tried to make her look like an #enamelpin with the line work of a #tattoo and I think it turned out well. Oh Beehave This just in from my #Sketchbook Series, one of my favourite things I've ever drawn. I wanted a glamorous bust sporting a 70s beehive hairdo as I like many of the aesthetics of glam 70s. But the Mort important thing is I am a woman of colour, but since #blacklivesmatter I've become painfully aware of how whitewashed my art really is. So I planned on making one of my pieces a woman of colour, not to piggyback on the popularity of #blm but to challenge my artistic skills, preferences, and palette development. Speaking of palette development I also dont usually go for retro colour themes but I did here. Sundae Fundae I'm very excited to share my #Sketchbook Series with you. I have taken three bust drawings from old sketchbooks and reworked them in the #digital medium. This is from #Inktober 2019, which I did not share all of the things I created. I got bored of ink and just tried to keep going with pencil but eventually admitted defeat, but before I did I drew this beautiful lady. So I got an IPad for Christmas but it's been a real struggle to create art. My friend @saucyuchiha had some massage therapy gift certificates she didnt want, so I traded her art for them. But I have a health plan and didn't need them, instead I gave them to my sister and best friend who were both going through hard times. Then my other friend Tori @purrsuasioncattraining said she was creating a book to raise funds for the @reginacatrescue so it was the perfect time to make some thing. I call it "Dean, Pumpkin, & Rory", Jehs' furbabies with Andrew @trashypandamonium and now I can't wait for her kitties to be published and immortalized lol. I also wrote. Little musing about my own three kitties to go along with my Submission. I was going to drew my kitties as well but underestimated how hard I had to fight my own depression and anxiety to make this. Please purchase the book when it is published to help support the Regina Cat Rescue. Also Consider adopting or fostering a kitty. Happy #Samhain witches. I painted the #beautiful @kiernanshipka as #SabrinaTheTeenageWitch and I think it turned out quite lovely. My goal was to finish by #Halloween and I put my paintbrush down at midnight. I collected a bunch of Sabrina comics (which took a ridiculously long time) and dipped them in watered down India ink. Then I collages them and dripped watered down acrylic ink to give it a bit more of a chilling vibe. Then I painted her portrait in acrylic, watering it down and layering it up. This was my submission for the @articulateinker woodcut for their Steamroller Printing event for @culturedayssk and although I did not get chosen I really loved the vulnerability of this work. I wanted to depict how I've been feeling in a self portrait. Ok so I have this theory... Ursula needs to steal the voice of #Ariel to speak like her, so she can't just create or copy stuff. So whose body did she steal to become Vanessa? I don't often draw abstract art or no objective art but a long time ago I  had to do a non-objective work, in a unconventional medium. So I choose bright blue nail polish, some pins and Q-tips and painted this. It is supposed to mimic the universe. The colour is based on that of bio-luminescence. I was inspired by the movie Pandorum, anyone who has seen it knows the end. I cannot kill it but the ending gave me so many feels. The hopelessness and loneliness are what I fear the most. I imagine all the blue dots are stars but also microscopic cells, and two meet in the centre to evolve together. Ok I finally finished #MerMay2019 and I feel like it's obvious I lost the wind in my sails, but I decided to go for 12 so this is my day 12. I drew a deep sea Angler fish #mermaid thanks to @tanitapickles and her suggestion I felt like it was a great challenge to do something creepy and reflect that dark side of myself. This is a #WIP #watercolour collage I've been working on for 3+ years since #Riverdale started. I have since fallen out of love with the show and I've really dragged my heels working on these. So #ArchieAndrews is just under-painted, #BettyCooper and #VeronicaLodge have a bit of work and #JugheadJones has some serious progress achieved. I was hesitant to share this series because not only is it large and difficult to photograph but I don't have any interest in creating photo-realistic depictions but that is what many define a talented or skilled #artist as so I've kept it to myself for the most part.
