hey! so i wanted to make a little masterlist of all my 13rw fanfictions – for my ocd, easy finding & just in case you weren't aware of my writing sideblog - @jensensfanfic. most of them are justin x reader, or clay x reader, but i am thinking of trying to slowly add more characters. these will likely be jessica, tony, zach, and alex. also, just so you know, my requests are very much open currently and probably for a long time - so if you have one just send an ask over on my fic blog and i'll see what i can do.

Here, have a little fic that has been sat in my drafts for 2+ years! At the time, I didn't think it was good enough so I just neglected it, but I miss writing for 13, so... here you go.

When you had first been introduced to Clay Jensen, Jessica had told you how intelligent he was. When you had mentioned being interested in joining robotics during your tour of the school, she had quirked a brow and smirked.

"You like robots, huh? Cool." She had said with a smile, "Maybe you'll get along with my friend, then. He's pretty damn smart... and loves tinkering in the lab." She goes to turn around then, but changes her mind and looks back at you once more, and adds, with a shrug, "Maybe you two should hang out. Share ideas... or something."

It became clear to you, a couple of months into your first year at the new school, that Jessica's not-that-subtle push for you to meet Clay, was because she was trying to hook the two of you up.

And it worked.

Now in your final year of school, you and Clay had grown close. Almost inseparable. Whenever you had spare time, you'd be in the lab, or hanging at his and Justin's outhouse, or often studying in the library together. Luckily, most of your classes were shared, so you were often paired for projects, always helping each other with homework.

Eventually, all that quality time spent, had led to you catching feelings.

Now you had a full fledged crush on Clay Jensen, and Jess was so damn smug, knowing that she was the one who pushed you into introducing yourself to him that first day.

The problem was, despite his intelligence in everything else, Clay was clueless when it came to any kind of romance or flirting. You had been trying for months to help him get a single goddamn clue.

It started with adding kisses to the end of your text messages. 'We still on for a movie marathon at yours tonight? xx'. He didn't say anything, didn't even ask why you had started this.

Then it was longer hugs when greeting each other, or saying goodbye. You would hold him tighter, and bury your face into his shoulder a little, breathing in his scent.

After that, it was sitting closer to him in class or at the outhouse, brushing your shoulder with his, knees touching, fingers grazing, but still... nothing.

He made no moves... didn't think anything of it.

On one particular day, after his shift at work, you had leaned in real close, as you sat with him, looking up at the full moon. Your feet dangling, fingertips just barely brushing — you had thought it was a perfect setting to see if he would lay one on you, given the opportunity.

And your heart skipped a beat when you had felt his thumb brush gently under your eyelid. The pad of his thumb swept your skin a handful of times, before he had asked you, "Did I get it?"

Your eyes popped open. "Get what?"

"The eyelash."

"Oh. Yeah, yeah." You blinked rapidly then, pretending that, yes, that is in fact why you were leaning so close with shut eyes. Rubbing your skin yourself now, you nodded, shifting back just a little. "I think– I think you got it."

Today, you sit in the outhouse, opposite Clay, one elbow resting on the carpet, your chin rested on your hand. There were books open and strewn around between you, a little tray with cookies and two glasses of juice, and the warm glow of the muted tv casted over you both.

You should be studying, but your eyes had drifted up to watch Clay. Tilting your head to one side, you glance down at his hand, scribbling the answers to some complex math equation, and then back up to him. He glanced up himself, giving you a brief, tight smile and then getting back to work.

You frowned. How could he be so intelligent with his mathematics homework, and yet so dim when it came to your months of attempts to get him to notice you wanted more than this friendship. Maybe you weren't being obvious enough.

"Clay."

"Yeah?" He doesn't even look up when he answers, so you don't respond for a few moments, and eventually he stops writing and gives you his full attention. "Yeah, you need help?"

"You know I like you, right?"

You watch as he frowns, then smiles, then frowns again. "I mean, yeah.. obviously."

"But like... I mean I like you like you."

"Yeah... I know. I like you, too." Then he narrows his eyes, before dramatically throwing his pen down. "Wait, are you about to ask me for a favour or something? Is that why you're being so weird?" He huffs, sitting up, and then crossing both his legs and his arms. "Lay it on me, then. You want me to finish the homework for you? Go get you coffee? Need a little cash? Give someone your number, ask them out for you? Maybe—"

"The last one!" You blurt. His rambling questions might have just given you the perfect idea of how to make it obvious.

"Oh.." You could swear you see a flicker of disappointment cross his face as his shoulders slump a bit. But he shrugs it off, then turns to a blank page is his note book. He writes your number, by heart, onto the paper, then glances up. "Okay.. well, uh, who is it? I'll write their name here, too, so I don't forget."

You take the paper from him, scribble 'Clay Jensen' at the top, and hand it back. He blinks, and frowns like he can't understand the writing. "I don't get it."

"Ugh!" You groan. "Goddamnit, Clay, you are so–" You snatch the paper back and show it to him. "It's you, give my number to you! Or... no... that's not what I mean. Shit." You get up, sitting on your bended knees and nudging closer so that your knees knock against his. "I like you. As in... not just a friend way. I like you..." You test the waters and take one of his hands in one of yours. He doesn't stop you. "Like a crush. Like I don't want to be just your friend anymore."

"Uh..." He goes silent for what feels like forever, and then let's out a nervous kind of chuckle. "Really?"

"Yes! I've been trying to hint this to you for weeks. With the long hugs, and the almost-kiss—"

"'The... kiss... what, when?"

"When we watched the full moon that night last weekend." You don't miss the fact that he is still holding your hand as your eyes flicker between his, mind playing back that night on the roof. "I didn't have a goddamn eyelash, I was trying to lean in, you know, to see if you would kiss me."

"Why didn't you just ask?" He chuckles, "Maybe I would have."

"Well, I wasn't sure if you liked me, too. I didn't want to outright ask and embarrass myself. But I'm guessing from that response... you, uh... you want to... kiss me?"

"I would have." Clay takes your other hand, and he brings you closer, smiling softly. "I like you, too. I have since you moved here."

"Really?"

"Really." He repeats your word, and then to your amazement, you watch as he eyes drift closed, and he gently tugs on your hands, bringing you close.

You smirk, and then slip your hands from his, to wrap them around his neck loosely. "This okay?"

He whispers a 'yeah', and then your heart skips a beat as your lips finally meet, and his own hands lift to find your waist.

You don't get anymore homework done that night.
