I hope this is the way things go.
Y’know, if Stanford turns out to be legit and all.
Matthew Winters is raising money for The Gurkha Welfare Trust. Sponsor them with Virgin Money Giving.
My platoon are raising money for those affected by the earthquakes in Nepal. our Colour Sergeant is Nepalese, as is one of the blokes in the platoon, and they both have family in Nepal so it is a matter close to our hearts.
The “Doko” is an important part of selection for becoming a Gurkha, which is a regiment in the British Army made up of Nepalese men who pass a gruelling selection course. Over 10,000 apply each year and this is whittled down to around 200. The Doko run itself consists of running approximately 5km up an extremely steep mountain in Nepal, carrying 25kg (55lbs) of weight in a traditional wicker basket (the Doko). We will be attempting to do this run over similar terrain in a route designed by our CSgt and hopefully by doing this we will raise enough money to make a difference over there.
Please consider donating, or at the very least sharing the link with others.
Thank you.
It’s been 5 days of Donation Drive, and if you missed anything this week, here’s what has been going on.
DONATE HERE
Monday: New song “Hulkbuster” Tuesday: Preview of song “That Reference” Wednesday: New song “The Mad Titan” Thursday: Preview of “The Quiet (kHill Remix)”
Thanks to everyone who’s donated. Remember, all donors, no matter how much you give, get a new mixtape album, the Mikal kHill remixes album, and a BOOM! Studios digital comics sampler.
The Donation Drive is the only time during the year I accept donations, and really the only time I ask for money for the 100s of free tracks I release through my site. It’s how I keep the lights on, how I keep the site running, make merch, make albums, and travel for shows. Take a second and consider donating if you’ve ever dug my music.
DONATE HERE
Posting will be lighter during the weekend, and we’ll post some more previews on Monday, and wrap it all up. The goal is 750 donors. Let’s do it!

Just hit the submit button on our page, check out the important admin bits herethen submit your best of the best.
And remember to keep checking back to have a look at the competition…
Entrepreneurial, you? Most def.
· Your artwork will be a placement print, in the centre of the tee.
· Please work to A3 portrait parameter, and the image resolution must be 300dpi.
· There is no limit on colour levels, world is your oyster there.
· It must be your own original artwork, no copycats ya hear?
HOW ABOUT YOU PAY AN ARTIST TO MAKE YOUR DESIGNS? YOU CAN AFFORD IT. DON’T COVER UP THE FACT THAT YOU’RE REALLY JUST LOOKING FOR FREE WORK FROM UNSUSPECTING YOUNG IMPRESSIONABLE ARTISTS.
“By submitting your design on the ASOS Tumblr page, you automatically assign all rights in your design to us and you give us and any of our associated suppliers a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence for a term of 3 years to use your image (including comments you submit in connection with any image) on product to sell on the ASOS website(s) and to display the design in any and all media (including, without limitation, on our social media channels, websites and tangible media) without accreditation or notification. If you would like us to remove the design after the end of the term of this licence, our duty to do so will be limited to those channels still reasonably under our control.”
AS CONTESTANTS DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS? IT MEANS IN THE EVENT THAT YOU DON’T WIN THEY CAN STILL USE AND MAKE PROFIT OFF YOU. YOUR ART IS THEIRS AND THEY DON’T HAVE TO PAY YOU A CENT.
BECAUSE YOU AREN’T WORTH A PAYCHECK.
Say “NO” to contests like these. Take back your worth.
I went to read the tags hoping it all would be against the contest, but there’s still people considering doing it or asking artists and friends to do it. So I feel it’s still really important to share. Don’t do it!
assign all rights in your design to us: we get to do anything we want with any part of any of your work and you don’t.
any of our associated suppliers: anyone we want to let do anything they want with any part of any of your work gets to too.
royalty free: you’re not going to be paid anything no matter what we slap your design on or how much cash it makes us.
without accreditation or notification: we don’t have to tell anyone that you were the guy who drew the art. hell, we’re not even going to tell you what your art’s used on or in.
if you would like us to remove the design after the end of the term of this licence, our duty to do so will be limited to those channels still reasonably under our control: even when the art is technically ‘yours’ again we’re not going to give half a flying fuck over removing your art from anywhere that’d actually take us any effort.
kids: this is the artistic equivalent of getting in the back of an unmarked van because some guy told you there’d be candy inside
you are going to get SO FUCKED
look at this company trying to be so hipster about exploiting youth
please don’t do this holy shit, don’t give this company anything, your art is worth more than this, which is nothing. they are giving you nothing in return for your work. artists don’t need to undervalue themselves any more than they already do. please do not do this
ok not only all that, but more people will think it’s okay to exploit young artists. even if you don’t care, you’re gonna ruin it for other people trying to get out as designers and illustrators. please don’t do this.
Who created Caitlin Snow, the alter ego of Firestorm super-villain Killer Frost, who appears regularly on The Flash?
According to DC Entertainment, nobody.
That’s right. Caitlin Snow, the brilliant scientist working for Harrison Wells, fiancée of Ronnie Raymond and friend of Barry Allen, aka...
10 cents for a bag to save the environment but you can’t email me this shit?

So, I’ve had an overwhelming positive response to yesterday’s post about DC Entertainment’s policy regarding “derivative” characters and creator equity.
One point I’d like to make clear is that this isn’t entirely an issue about money.
Yes, money is involved, but thanks to the way DC and Warners structure their in-house deals, the actual payout for the use of a character on an episode of The Flash or Arrow is ridiculously small. (I receive an average of $47 for each appearance of Felicity Smoak, for example; nothing to sneeze at, of course, but I’m not gonna be buying any mansions with my comic book character profits anytime soon.)
The bigger issue here, for me, is one of respect for the creative contributions of the writers and artists who brought characters like Felicity Smoak and Caitlin Snow and Barry Allen into life in the first place.
By claiming the work I did, or that Sterling Gates and Derlis Santacruz did, is simply “derivative” and thus, unoriginal and unworthy of acknowledgment and compensation, DC is disrespecting our contributions as creators. The company is asserting that our work means nothing.
That’s despicable, and honestly, that’s what impelled me to write yesterday’s blog.
Of course, a few bucks would be nice too.
Maybe tomorrow I’ll talk about how DC and Warners handle their in-house negotiations…
And now to set fire to my enemies!
Well, It’s Official!

This blog might get a whole lot more boring as I do not have time to scroll through tumblr any more and definitely not enought time to post anything original.
I have just started (as in last sunday) at the Regimental Military Academy Sandhurst and it's quite a lot of work.
