HOW IS YOUR HEART?
during my worst times on the park benches in the jails or living with whores I always had this certain contentment- I wouldn’t call it happiness- it was more of an inner balance that settled for whatever was occuring and it helped in the factories and when relationships went wrong with the girls.
it helped through the wars and the hangovers the backalley fights the hospitals.
to awaken in a cheap room in a strange city and pull up the shade- this was the craziest kind of contentment
and to walk across the floor to an old dresser with a cracked mirror- see myself, ugly, grinning at it all.
what matters most is how well you walk through the fire.

“Understand me. I’m not like an ordinary world. I have my madness, I live in another dimension and I do not have time for things that have no soul.”
-Charles Bukowski (via moonlitfirefly)
i don’t read bukowski because fuck you that’s why
jester; jester. on the vine. oh where. oh where is my rage. cabernet crimson, churchill winston cancer sticks
lollipop lusting catholic skirt. unstrung gibson virgin birth: earthy mirth of brownie bride. ringworm playhouse fungicide.

I loved you like a man loves a woman he never touches, only writes to, keeps little photographs of.

“Isolation is the gift. All the others are a test of your endurance, of how much you really want to do it. And, you’ll do it, despite rejection and the worst odds. And it will be better than anything else you can imagine. If you’re going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It’s the only good fight there is.” - Charles Bukowski / Factotum

Charles Bukowski
He looks so normal, paper under his armpit and paper money in hand. Dressed up, in a casual and... normal way, in what looks like a public place, during the day.
The Bukowski that lives in my head is nothing like this.
The Bukowski in my head is disgustingly sweaty in his tank top and boxer shorts, absolutely wasted on whiskey, mumbling violently about so-and-so, the ungrateful cunt, thin strands of gray clinging tightly to the sheeny forehead that looms over his deep-set eyes and pock-marked face.
I wonder if the Bukowski in my head is the same Bukowski that lived inside his.
Do not ignore it. Fuck it. Cry your heart out. Then fuck it some more

The Beat asked me about my top 5 favorite comics for kids… check it out. I list ‘em, and say why I like ‘em.
One of my comic heroes, James “American Elf” Kochalka picked Teen Dog as one of his favourite comics for kids! I’m pretty psyched about it, not gonna lie.
