“Come on. It’s just a bit of fun,” he shrugged, sliding the phone out briefly and spinning it in his fingers before he quickly tucked it away again. “Want a new phone?”
“You know, I think I’m good.” She rolled her eyes and shook her head. “Fun for you, buying a new phone and cancelling their old contract for them. I would not find that so fun if I were them.”

“My hands know exactly what they’re doing. You know, ridding the fair of the perils of capitalism and social media. I’m doing everyone a favour if you think about it,” he shrugged with a smile as he attempted to talk his way out of it. He knew not to lie to Rajah if he wanted to keep his body parts.
“...Sure. And, question, when was the last time that worked on someone?” Rajah couldn’t help but smile at the other, shaking her head softly. “You must think low of my intelligence if you think something like that would pull the wool over my eyes.”
Within the crowds it was easy to take a little thing from here, another from there. He’d gained quite the collection this evening, slipping in and out of people and their pockets. A hand strayed into one, removing a particularly shiny phone, carefully and slowly, and sliding it up his sleeve as though it had never even been there. A smirk pressed itself into the corner of his lips as he turned, before he stepped directly into someone.
“Hi,” he smiled, giving them a few friendly pats on the arm. “Sorry. My fault. Bit of the old ‘not looking where you’re going’ syndrome.” He continued, slowly taking steps backwards. He had no idea how much they’d seen.
Rajah had been watching the man through the string of people, feather-fingered and sneaky. Hands on hips, she waited for the other to collide with her and cocked up an eyebrow. “Mhm. Sure.” She commented, holding a hand out to the other. “Might want to keep an eye on where those hands are going too, pup.”
“How many pumpkins can one person have on their porch before they shouldn’t get anymore? Just asking,” Tiana’s lips twitched in amusement. She enjoyed the Festival and had been watching the hustle and bustle of preparation outside her restaurant before the thing had even started. She could appreciate all of the work.
“I believe the specific amount would be a front-lawn full.” Rajah mused, taking her eyes from the pumpkin patch to the woman who had put forward the question. “A bit too much orange for my liking. I think I may prefer them when they go brown and start smelling like the fourth level of the underworld.”

She laughed and nudged her friend. “You can’t tell me there isn’t a single happy person inside,” she said, casting her eye over the doorway with interest. Really, she didn’t have much of an idea what was inside at all. She avoided most bars as a standard, if only from the point of view that she had no reason to enter. “Thanks. So,” she offered an expectant smile. “Are we going in?”
“There isn’t a single happy person inside.” Rajah looked at the woman with a smirk, shrugging softly. “You can’t tell me what I can and cannot say around here, Jas. Perhaps in our homeland, but even that would have been a struggle.” She chuckled softly, moving to the doorway and gesturing Jasmine through. “Be my guest.”

“Yeah, I - uh - not much skill to it though with a weapon like that. You get even a little bit near and you’re going to do some damage. Yours is precision though, Rajah. It takes skill.” Cal said, “Lets see what you can do.”
Rajah smirked at the woman, cocking an eyebrow as she rested a hand on the hilt of her blade. “Normally, I am not a fan of someone kissing my ass, but when it’s from a commanding officer... I must say, I am rather enjoying it.” She quickly flicked her sword upwards out of it’s holster and caught it by the hilt. The movements she used were quick, the blade swinging high and low and about the woman’s body like the two were mentally and physically one being. She was not moving for long, but soon she was finished, and poised herself before lowering her sword. And then, wafting away from the branches surrounding her the leaves fluttered to the ground, fluttering away from their designated branches. “...Would you like to take a look?” She asked, offering her blade outwards to Calhoun.

Jasmine’s eyes had spent more time on the clock that day than they had anywhere else. She’d be talking to customers and her gaze would still find itself fixed firmly to the little hand, ticking the seconds away. Minutes passed like hours.
By the time the last customer had left fifteen minutes before closing time, she was flipping the sign, locking the doors and skipping in the direction of their meeting place. “I’m ready,” she grinned as she came up beside her friend and fingered the hem of her shirt. “Is this alright, do you think? Do you think I’ll blend in?”
Rajah perked up and turned towards the other at the sound of her voice, looking her over at her question. She hummed softly and leaned across, untucking a stray piece of hair from behind the Jasmine’s ear. Observing the girl a moment more, she let out a soft chuckle. “With your wide eyes full of curiosity, and a smile dripping with optimism, you would never blend into a scene like this,” she mused, though dipping her head gently in response. “But this is not bad. It shall do.”

She let out a soft huff and stroked her hands down her hips, flattening her skirt down as she glanced about the streets. She had been waiting here for the antiques shop to shut, having told her that they would be starting their adventure from tonight. She couldn’t help but find it all too adorable how much Jasmine saw it all. Like she had the eyes of a ten year old, wanting to explore and play pirates and Indians. She was too pure. And far too innocent for any real danger.
It had left her pockets feeling lighter, but things were ready, and she was ready for the other woman when she would arrive. She stood near the doors of the bar and kept her eyes peeled for the petite woman.

“Yeah, I wasn’t listening to what you said. I am so sorry, sweetie. I was a bit distracted by that pretty face across the room. What do you think of him?”
Rajah glanced across the room to the man in question and thought for a moment. “...Tooth removal,” she commented with a soft nod. “That would be the best way to torture and get information from him. Anything else?”

“I can do it. Fight some bad guys, save the day,” she laughed, jokingly jabbing at the air.
Rajah pursed her lips and held back her grin at the woman. “Adorable,” she murmured, lightly nudging at the woman’s shoulder. “I told you that those children cartoons were not representing the ‘adventuring life’ accurately though, didn’t I? We will not be chasing down a shady gentleman with ‘doom’ somewhere in his name, rest assured.”

A broad smile spread across her lips and she gave a little bounce. “You’d do that? You mean it? A real life adventure.”
“Sure.” Rajah offered the woman a smile, her bouncy nature seeming to lift the mood somewhat after quite a serious tone. “A real life adventure. Life-at-risk, cut-throat, bar-fight-starting adventure.”

She gave the woman’s hand another squeeze at her words. It was nice that the feeling was somewhat reciprocated. She was rather glad the woman didn’t think of her as a nuisance or a liability. “Yes. That’s just it. I’d just like to experience something different. We’re in this amazing new world and I still feel limited.”
Rajah offered the woman a smile and nodded a few times, looking down at the woman’s hands in her own and letting out a soft sigh. “Well then. Perhaps it is time for me to approach this differently then.” She turned her eyes back up to Jasmine and raised an eyebrow. “How do you feel about trying out some of the activities carried out by your royal guard?”

Cal grinned when Rajah pressed against her, hooking her chin over the woman’s shoulder. “Cheeky son-of-a-bitch.” She whispered, holding Rajah tighter in the kickback and laughing. “Yeah, he’s my big boy though, he’s not for every day use y’know. He’d do our shoulder in if he was an every-shot kinda gun.” Cal said, “Nah, I just cracked him out on the weekends.”
Rajah smirked at the whispering in her ear, looking between the gun and the damage it had left behind on the tree opposite. “He’s incredibly impressive however.” She praised, turning to look over at Calhoun with a smile. “You must be ‘one proud mama’.”

Astrid had never really gone to any bars this early in the evening. She knew that plenty of people did, especially those that were just getting off work and wanted to unwind a little, but she had never fallen into that category. Truthfully, she hadn’t found much interest in going to bars or clubs when she had nights to herself, preferring some quiet time to herself at home instead. However, the chance to see Rajah after what felt like ages was definitely worth breaking habit.
As she walked in, she looked around before spotting her friend. She made her way over, ignoring anyone who might have tried to start a conversation with her before slipping onto the bar stool next to her. “Is one of those for me?” she joked, referring to the two drinks in front of her.
Rajah offered the woman a smile as Astrid approached, nudging the vodka coke her way. “Indeed it is,” she murmured as she casually glanced the woman over and offered a nod. “Looking at you, no one would even be able to tell that you were pregnant at one point or another.”

“I think that tends to happen with a grand reopening,” she mused, laughing softly. “And what do you think of the clientele?”
“Hm... A lot are rather old news to me now. I have become rather an old hat in this town. Or, so it feels.” Rajah shrugged softly, briefly looking over the bar before looking back to Chel. “However, some new faces are... intriguing at least.”

Her face fell slightly. “No. No. I wouldn’t want rid of you. I love that you’re there to keep he safe and protect me, when I need you.” She release her arms and took the other woman’s hands, giving them a slight squeeze. “But I like you as a friend even better,” she smiled softly. “You’re the only one I’ve really got… I’ve really ever had.”
“Hm... I fear you can hardly have one without the other, but I understand the sentiment.” Rajah offered Jasmine a soft smile and a nod. “And you with I. You are rather the only one to assume me to be a valuable guard without first assuming me flawed first. You have a good heart, and your companionship is very very dear to me.” Rajah looked down to their hands, tied together for a brief heart to heart. She understood Jasmine’s thoughts, but she had also lived on that more dangerous side of life -and Jasmine simply wasn’t suited to it. However, the thought did give her an idea. “...So, you simply wish to experience some more dangerous things in life, yes?”

“That’s not what I mean and you know it,” she grumbled, folding her arms. “I’m just tired of being trapped. Everywhere I go, there’s always something there to stop me. If it’s not a wall or Jafar, it’s the edge of town. I’m tired of living like that.”
“The thing is, two out of those three things have been keeping you safe Jasmine.” Rajah looked the other over, and then glanced away. She understood that feeling of wanting something past safety and more thrill than just average. However, she was a guard. They were trained craving that, because they’d be less likely to cower in the face of a threat. Jasmine -she was a princess. Having her crave that thrill was simply troublesome for a guard. She slowly unfolded her arms and let out a small huff. “I don’t know what you wish of me, Jasmine- I am your bodyguard.” She looked the the woman, a firm but honest look in her eye. “The day I met you, I made it my priority to see that you were always safe. And whilst other duties and lifestyle choices have appeared around this new land, I have always tried to keep your well-being in mind.” Rajah blinked a few times at the woman and then stepped closer, holding at the point where Jasmine’s arms crossed. “So, do you even want a bodyguard anymore? You crave to be free of boundaries, and I can only assume that I would be one of them.”
