People keep saying fans are giving Bill Hader too much credit for playing a gay main character, when plenty of people have done that before, and okay, you know what, maybe they’re right. 

But in a world where every single goddamn lgbt character or lgbt relationship is “up for interpretation” or some bullshit, it is fucking refreshing to have an actor sit down, and speak so openly about his character’s sexuality, and not be coy or freaking vague about it. 

He’s stated that Richie’s first love was Eddie. Richie’s still in love with Eddie even after 27 years. Eddie is the person Richie loves. Richie is both emotionally and sexually attracted to Eddie. 

All that, Hader’s words. He knows the importance of if you’re gonna have a character like this; commit to it, and thus he shoots down all the doubts that could be lingering, because he’s made sure there’s no mistake. 

Richie is lgbt, and you better deal with it.
