JUST SOME GUY: FINAL ROUND

Connecticut Clark (Flork of Cows) and Stanley (The Stanley Parable)

For the final round, our contestants deserve a little more detail than just the reasons they were submitted with.

Created with the sole purpose of being the least interesting OC possible, Connecticut Clark has been crushing his competition consistently in every round. He has nothing going for him -- no cool powers, no tragic backstory, no interesting appearance. The only notable thing about him is his cool, badass, goth wife, Malfina the Demon Witch, which in fact is one of the most Just Some Guy traits: being a bland character with a love interest who's way more competent than him. Get it, Clark.

As for his competition, Stanley has the honor of being the most submitted character when character nominations opened up. Just like Clark, Stanley has been consistently sweeping, and it's for good reason. Despite being the titular character in his own game, Stanley has absolutely nothing that makes him stand out. His appearance is that of a default video game character, he never speaks a word, and he has no personality or backstory other than what the Narrator occasionally projects onto him, and even then, those details are normally irrelevant by the next time the game begins. He is truly just a shell for the player and Narrator to puppet around, which is the whole point of the game.

While they are both truly Just Some Guy, for the final time, I ask...

Hello, and welcome to the Video Game Dog Bracket!

Do you like dogs? Do you like video games? Do you like dogs from video games? If yes, then this is the tournament for you! 

I’ve been wanting to host my own bracket for a while now - ever since I submitted a character to one of them a few months back, swore to myself I wouldn’t get invested in the results, but then ended up doing just that. Thanks a ton to @artificialkids-2k23-official, without whom this bracket wouldn’t exist!

The rules for submission are fairly straightforward, but I’ll list them here anyway. (Updated 6/3/23)

An obvious one, but all characters submitted must be dogs, wolves, or mythical creatures that are canine in nature (i.e. Cerberus or a dog-like Pokémon). Foxes are on thin ice. 

Anthropomorphic dogs are okay. However, please don't send in anime boys with dog ears or whatever. I think that's pushing the definition of "dog" a little too much.

Characters must have originated from a video game or visual novel. If they appear in a game, but it’s an adaptation of a movie, for example, they won’t be counted.  No, Homestuck doesn't count as a video game.

Named characters are preferred and will be given priority. I’m not saying that you can’t submit Granbull or every Nintendog, but in the case that there are more submissions than bracket spaces, they probably won’t make it in.

Please only submit one character at a time. The form is open to multiple responses per person, so you can submit as many characters as you like. (Just be reasonable with it and don’t send the same one over and over again?)

Also, while sending several characters from the same source material is appreciated, they aren't all going to make it into the bracket. I'm looking for a varied and diverse lineup, and want to limit it to about three characters per source. This isn't a hard and fast rule, but just...don't get upset if all twenty characters from the same thing don't get accepted, okay?

Currently, the plan is for submissions to close on June 9th, but this may be subject to change based on the amount of traction this bracket gets. As of right now, submissions are planned to close on June 5th instead!

So I love playing video games. But I also find the unused stuff fascinating. I love learning about how the game was developed, how it could have ended up. I don’t think there is a single video game in existance that doesn’t have something that was scrapped or changed during developement. So this is a poll for that stuff!

Feel free to submit multiple things, even multiple things from the same game.

RULES

The character should be the only (or one of just a few) ‘regular’ guys in their group. What’s important is that they’re in the minority and seem ordinary compared to everyone else

As the one who asked about sending puppets before and talked about my submission being as "just a guy" as it gets... FUCK, I should've thought of a 31 Minutos Character.

But no, it was another Puppet, his name is Hup and he's peak "just a guy", he fights with a mighty wooden spoon sword and his species, the Podlings, are designed after potatoes, to represent their connection to the earth (as in the element, dirt, sand, rocks, mud... Their world is called Thra)
