#Submission "Hello I'm @iamtheDanielle on Instagram, My actual name is Danielle and I just graduated highschool, I didn't always have short hair. Since I was 11 I had dreads, and decided to comb them out because I got tired of them at 17. They were actually very beautiful and fit me perfectly, but unfortunately they no longer made me happy. I combed the out with a friend for about 3 days, they were bra strap length 😩. I then had normal hair but I never dealt with natural hair, and I often found it dry and uncontrollable. I had my side shaved , and it was cool but I wanted all my hair not 75%. To add to it, my mom pressed out my hair and heat damaged the back, it was bone straight. It left me unhappy with the consistency of my hair , which is when I decide to cut it all off. It grew out for a month or 2 and I dyed it, I then got bored with it and cut it into a Mohawk and then prom came around and I didn't necessaryily want to put weave it , because weave just doesn't look good on me. My story is really not about ME but more so about my mother , in 2012 she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer in her left breast and she had to go through Chemo and Radiation. Well of course that meant losing the hair, and she wasn't ready to have to deal with being "bald" , so to help her still feel beautiful I decided to shave mine off , and boy was she happy! It is now 2015 and she is fully recovered and has her "Sassy Back" lol But I keep mine cut because I want to be an example to those ladies and girls around the world who are bald that you are still truly AMAZING! I had a huge afro that I loved and all of a sudden my hair felt heavy..i was in a verbally abusive relationship, we were broke and of all the things I could've had happen, she died. In May of 2007 I started my locs. I kept them up until May of 2014. Which I had a shallow moment. One of my locs in the front popped and I was going away on my girls trip Memorial Day weekend.. So I went to my stylist who wasn't at work due to personal matters. My trip was a few days away and I don't go to just anybody to touch my hair which I pretty much did it myself anyways. So I decided to cut my hair. I was a little tired of it and I wanted to be free. There was some life changes going on and I was ready to change my look. So I did the big chop for a second time may 2014. My first twa and at that time about to turn 40 later on in the year..I was rockin it and loving it. Recently i had to cut my hair all the way down because I am undergoing some tests health wise and they put these tabs with wires in my hair. I had it on for 72 hours. So when they took it out it left patches in my hair. Now I saw the front not seeing the back I was mad. Now I'm blond and I see missing hair. As my hair is growing back you see my true hair color in between the blond. I look like a misguided leopard! Lol, smh! With that being said I contemplated wearing my wigs again. But I said no I love my hair I'm going to have to cut it low. I went to the barber and he said he had to cut it all the way low so it can grow back together. And I said ok. Now I'm really short almost bald lol. But I love it. So I'd love to be featured one day in justthehead because I embrace my short bald natural look.
