I saw oliver-Sara shipper being upset about Ava’s condolence card, twisting that it’s shaming of her girlfriend and being jealous. I was like come on, a real and strong relationships are just like that. It’s honest and not too delicate.

Listen, I laughed out loud when Ava read her card, even though I’ve always really respected the friendship between Oliver and Sara–they went through hell, they tried to heal together, realized it wasn’t good for either of them, and wished each other well while remaining family. It is no secret that they were both pretty crappy people when they got on the Gambit together. I think they’d be the first to admit that.

In real life, yes, of course you would never write a card like that to your grieving girlfriend. Duh. But this isn’t real life, this is an Office-style episode of a batshit-crazy superhero show. Sara was never going to actually receive that card, and they wrote a joke that pokes fun at both Ava having an insecure/jealous streak, and college-aged Oliver and Sara’s awful decision making. It was a joke. A good joke. :)

You anti Ava/Avalance are something else... how about any of you who called Ava “emotional absuive” look up what emotional abuse is, because anything she did in 501 ain’t it. It’s not something you should throw around just to drag a character and relationship you don’t like especially when it’s not there. Sure, you can say the condolence card was mean, but when you have to use this one thing she did out of the entire episode as ammunition to further your hate, when you have to stoop so low and call it emotional abuse, that says a lot about than anything else. Did your arm fall off from reaching so hard?
