A sonic sensation of machine-driven beats and raw analog power!
"MidiBot 2.0" by Justin Mullins.
'MidiBot 2.0' is a sonic sensation of machine-driven beats and raw analog power, paired with visuals from the 1935 Russian robot epic "Loss of Sensation" (Гибель сенсации). The film (now in the public domain) chronicles Jim Ripple's creation of an army of robots, controlled by his saxophone, to challenge the capitalist order - only to see them turned against the workers they were meant to liberate. Just as music controls these cinematic machines, MidiBot 2.0 represents the next step in the evolution of human-machine interaction. Originally conceived in 2006 to breathe life into static laptop performances, this latest iteration of MidiBot carries forward the spirit of rebellion - though it remains delightfully unhelpful in making laptop musicians any less boring.
