Given certain circumstances within her life, Natalia should have been a deep sleeper, but her overcompensating had, as with most things, led to an extreme on the other end of the spectrum; which meant she was awake within moments of the knocking having started. A remote beside her bed was all she needed to turn on the lights in not just her room, but the entirety of her loft, lighting her way and making travel safer than it would have been otherwise. Half awake, the femme slid a robe on over her nightgown and made her way out of bed and carefully down the metal staircase, no hesitation or bothering to peer through the peephole before she’s opening the door, a smile immediately making it’s way onto lips that for once weren’t stained with their natural red tint. “T‘es canon dans cette robe.” She hummed in a near whisper as her gaze took in the sight of Jasmine, feigning a pout at her request and allowing her eyes to meet her own. “I’m afraid not, mi amor. But there is a twenty-four hour pizzeria a few blocks away that I’d be happy to order from if you so wish. That or I believe I have some leftover vegetable tempura and avocado rolls in the fridge.”

sighing  dramatically  ,  jasmine  drops  her  shoes  at  the  doorway  and  stumbles  past  natalia  ,  into  her  living  room  so  she  can  collapse  onto  the  girl’s  couch  ,  much  like  she  has  on  many  other  nights  .  she  turns  her  head  so  she’s  not  smashing  her  face  into  the  cushions  ,  and  she  squints  as  she  opens  her  eyes  again  ,  the  lights  not  agreeing  with  her  current  state  .  “  the  drunk  part  of  me  wants  greasy  pizza  ,  but  the  tiny  ,  reasonable  voice  in  my  head  says  to  go  with  the  sushi  ,  ”  she  mumbles  ,  eyes  locking  onto  the  vague  shape  that  she  assumes  is  either  natalia  or  a  murderer  .  “  surprise  me  ?  i  don’t  care  what  you  put  in  front  of  me  ,  i’ll  eat  it  .  ”  she  attempts  a  smile  ,  but  she  honestly  can’t  be  sure  if  that’s  what  the  look  on  her  face  comes  across  as  .  natalia’s  been  around  drunk  jas  to  know  well  enough  ,  though  ,  which  is  why  she’s  not  so  concerned  about  trying  to  look  put  together  .

her  head  is  fuzzy  from  the  copious  amount  of  drinks  she  had  ,  her  heels  are  held  in  one  hand  ,  and  her  dress  has  a  weird  stain  on  it  ,  but  jas  is  smiling  as  she  knocks  on  the  door  to  natalia’s  home  ,  uncaring  of  the  fact  that  it’s  three  in  the  morning  .  if  anyone  would  be  willing  to  let  jas  drunkenly  stumble  into  their  home  at  this  hour  ,  it’s  nat  .  she  doesn’t  realize  she’s  still  knocking  until  the  door  is  opening  and  she’s  losing  her  balance  slightly  ,  righting  herself  on  the  doorframe  as  she  laughs  .  “  please  tell  me  you  have  a  pizza  somewhere  in  there  .  i  didn’t  eat  all  day  so  i  could  fit  into  this  dress  ,  and  now  i’m  so  hungry  i  could  kill  a  man  .  ”

there  are  times  where  jas  digs  herself  into  a  little  self  -  isolation  pit  -  where  she  sleeps  all  day  ,  parties  all  night  with  strangers  ,  and  ignores  any  notifications  that  pop  up  on  her  phone  .  she  doesn’t  do  it  on  purpose  ,  and  once  she’s  noticed  she’s  done  it  ,  she  tries  to  make  a  conscious  effort  to  have  a  social  interaction  with  someone  she  cares  about  .  it’s  easy  for  her  to  reach  out  to  cass  ,  to  invite  her  to  lunch  because  the  blonde  is  so  easy  to  be  around  ,  espically  when  jas  is  in  a  funk  that  she  doesn’t  know  how  to  get  out  of  .  she’s  sitting  at  an  outside  table  at  one  of  her  favorite  lunch  spots  ,  the  big  sunglasses  on  her  face  hiding  the  bags  under  her  eyes  that  makeup  wouldn’t  fix  .  she  smiles  when  she  sees  cass  ,  a  big  one  that  she  can’t  fight  back  because  she  forgot  how  much  she  enjoyed  being  around  her  .  when  she  gets  close  enough  ,  she  stand  up  for  a  hug  ,  smelling  the  familiar  perfume  that  the  other  girl  favors  .  “  not  to  be  corny  ,  but  i  feel  like  i  haven’t  seen  you  in  ten  years  .  ”

though  she  never  had  to  worry  about  getting  a  sunburn  and  her  go  -  to  clothes  were  perfect  for  warmer  weather  ,  jasmine  had  always  been  a  fall  girl  ,  hating  the  humid  heat  that  new  york  summers  brought  .  her  hair  got  frizzy  ,  her  makeup  smeared  ,  and  the  underboob  sweat  was  not  a  joke  .  so  when  the  days  were  too  hot  ,  she  liked  to  wait  until  the  late  night  to  leave  her  air  -  conditioned  home  ,  often  found  roaming  the  streets  near  midnight  .  the  cashiers  at  the  7  eleven  near  her  home  expect  her  now  ,  greeting  her  when  she  comes  in  for  a  cherry  slushee  .  she  walks  around  as  the  condensation  drips  down  her  hand  ,  the  sidewalks  mostly  empty  so  all  she  really  hears  are  the  distant  sounds  of  car  horns  and  the  way  her  shoes  click  on  the  pavement  .  she  keeps  an  eye  on  her  surroundings  ,  making  sure  there  were  no  shifty  people  around  because  she  is  aware  that  walking  through  the  city  at  such  a  late  hour  isn’t  a  SMART  idea  ,  but  she’s  never  been  one  to  listen  to  that  little  voice  in  her  head  .  she’s  rounding  a  corner  when  she  spots  a  familiar  lanky  figure  locking  the  door  to  a  tattoo  shop  ,  and  she  smiles  around  the  straw  between  her  lips  .  “  damn  ,  are  you  not  open  twenty  -  four  hours  ?  i  was  really  in  the  mood  to  get  an  infinity  symbol  on  my  wrist  .  ”

biting  her  lip  while  trying  to  hold  back  a  laugh  ,  jas  rolls  her  eyes  at  him  ,  not  believing  in  his  little  act  for  a  second  .  she  used  to  know  him  better  than  she  knew  herself  ,  and  his  sense  of  humor  seemed  to  have  stayed  with  him  .  “  you  are  nice  ,  but  it’s  the  nice  ones  you  gotta  look  out  for  ,  ”  she  replies  ,  as  if  it’s  the  most  obvious  thing  in  the  world  .  she  may  distrust  a  lot  of  people  ,  but  rafael  has  never  been  one  of  them  .  “  it’s  all  about  the  poker  face  ,  right  ?  maybe  i’ll  have  the  upper  hand  because  lying  is  my  job  ,  after  all  .  ”  she  scrunches  up  her  nose  ,  pretending  to  be  grossed  out  at  the  thought  of  him  crashing  with  her  .  “  i  spent  a  lot  of  money  on  that  couch  ,  i  don’t  need  your  boy  germs  staining  it  up  .  ”

“  i  don’t  know  if  you’re  trying  to  get  me  to  put  out  ,  or  you’re  just  genuinely  being  nice  but  ,  i’m  not  gonna  say  no  to  free  shit  ,  ”  she  shrugs  ,  though  she’s  known  since  they  were  teenagers  that  that’s  just  how  rafael  is  .  how  she  managed  to  snag  a  good  guy  for  years  is  still  a  mystery  to  her  ,  especially  when  she  was  even  more  of  a  nightmare  during  their  school  years  .  “  well  ,  people’s  tastes  do  change  over  time  ,  raf  ,  ”  she  says  ,   trying  to  keep  her  face  straight  ,  but  she  can’t  help  smiling  at  his  laugh  .  it’s  easier  when  he  makes  jokes  ,  like  nothing’s  changed  between  them  .  “  so  ,  where’s  the  best  place  for  a  beginner  to  start  ?  i  don’t  think  we  should  jump  straight  into  blackjack  unless  you  want  to  end  up  homeless  by  the  end  of  the  night  .  ”

as  someone  who  hates  to  be  bored  ,  jasmine  shows  up  to  rafael’s  casino  in  the  hopes  that  he’ll  be  there  ,  though  she’s  also  fine  with  just  flirting  with  rich  guys  to  get  free  drinks  if  he’s  not  .  luckily  ,  she  spots  him  coming  toward  her  soon  after  she  walks  through  the  doors  ,  an  easy  smile  gracing  her  face  .  how  he  manages  to  turn  her  into  some  blushing  teenager  ,  she’ll  never  know  .  “  mr  .  rivera  ,  ”  she  replies  with  a  laugh  .  “  oh  ,  i  know  how  casinos  work  ,  though  .  you’d  treat  me  all  special  so  i’d  spend  more  money  .  can’t  bullshit  a  bullshitter  ,  pretty  boy  ,  ”  she  jokes  ,  knowing  full  well  he’d  never  do  that  to  her  .  her  cheeks  pink  up  at  his  compliment  .  “  thank  you  .  i’m  liking  this  whole  ‘  boss  man  ’  vibe  you’ve  got  now  .   very  christian  grey  of  you  .  ”

alanna  chuckles  along  with  jas  at  her  response  ,  not  being  able  to  help  the  innocent  flirting  .  it  was  like  second  nature  with  the  brunette  at  this  point  ,  alanna  loved  their  relationship  .  it  was  fun  ,  easy  ,   &  non  judgemental  .   she  felt  like  she  could  tell  jasmine  anything  ,  &  the  benefits  between  them  just  made  things  even  better  for  alanna  .  she  always  knew  from  the  second  she  met  jasmine  that  she  would  have  trouble  keeping  her  hands  off  her  .  “  right  here  ,  ”   alanna  gestures  to  the  coffee  table  ,  before  clearing  the  very  few  items  off  it  &  laying  herself  down  on  it  ,  removing  her  shirt  as  she  let  her  back  touch  the  cold  coffee  table  ,  shivering  slightly  at  the  temperature  shock  .  she  pours  some  salt  in  the  middle  of  her  stomach  ,  just  beneath  her  chest  &  above  her  bellybutton  ,  preparing  herself  for  jas  to  pour  the  liquor  onto  her  skin  &  tilting  her  head  up  slightly  so  she  could   watch  the  girl  take  the  shot  . 

jasmine  goes  quiet  as  alanna  sets  herself  up  ,  though  her  thoughts  are  anything  but  .  she  usually  has  a  hard  time  controlling  her  thoughts  when  it  comes  to  the  blonde  ,  and  at  this  point  is  a  pro  at  keeping  all  that  shit  bottled  up  .  alanna  and  her  have  always  been  close  ,  and  it’s  like  all  those  dumb  rom  -  coms  have  taught  her  nothing  because  for  a  second  there  she  actually  believed  that  feelings  wouldn’t  be  a  problem  between  them  .  but  now  she’s  reaping  the  consequences  ,  constantly  worried  about  slipping  up  and  ruining  this  thing  between  them  .  she  kneels  down  next  to  alanna’s  perch  on  the  coffee  table  ,  her  brown  eyes  meeting  the  other’s  as  she  raises  the  bottle  to  pour  down  her  stomach  .  “  cheers  , ”  she  says  before  ducking  down  to  lick  the  salt  off  ,  barely  able  to  taste  it  anymore  after  how  many  shots  they’ve  already  done  .  the  only  sensation  is  the  feeling  of  alanna’s  skin  beneath  her  tongue  as  she  carefully  tries  to  get  all  the  salt  ,  dragging  her  lips  lower  to  suck  up  the  liquor  from  her  bellybutton  .

“   hey  ,  it’s  your   turn  to  take  a  body  shot  off  me  ,  ”   she  teases  ,  eyebrows  raising  in  jasmine’s  direction  .   the  substances  running  through  alanna’s  veins  right  now  had  her  in  her  fearless  state  ,  one  she  often  found  herself  in  while  partying .  doing  things  she  wouldn’t  dare  to  do  sober  ,  but  maybe  that’s  why  she  found  herself  this  way  so  often  .  the  feeling  of  being  invincible ,  powerful  ,  like  she  could  do  anything  ,  like  she  didn’t  actually  care  what  happened .  it  was  just  the  two  girls  in  alanna’s  large  but  currently  otherwise  empty  home  ,  that  she  usually  shared  with  brooke .  but  with  her  roommate  being  away  ,  she  was  much  more  lonely  .  alanna  was  beyond  happy  that  it  was  just  her  &  jas  hanging  out  ,  it  having  been  way  too  long  since  the  two  of  them  had  had  quality  time  together  ,  and  the  company  was  always  nice  .  she  was  glad  with  the  outcome  of  tonight  ,  the  two  of  them  spending  the  last  two  hours  getting  wasted  off  tequila  .  but  it  was  as  if  the  night  was  just  beginning  ,  alanna’s  practically  bouncing  off  the  walls  with  energy  . 

𝐚  𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐧  𝐬𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬  𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬  the  brunette’s  face  at  alanna’s  words  ,  her  inhibitions  low  enough  that  she’s  not  even  bothering  to  try  and  hide  her  feelings  like  usual  .  “  like  i’m  gonna  say  no  to  that  ,  ”  she  laughs  ,  her  speech  slightly  slurred  but  she  still  felt  like  she  had  a  handle  on  herself  .  jas  was  too  used  to  being  some  sort  of  fucked  up  ,  and  at  this  point  in  her  life  she  knew  how  to  be  a  pro  at  it  .  she  was  never  sloppy  ,  but  in  her  case  it’s  too  true  that  a  drunk  mind  will  speak  sober  thoughts  ,  which  is  why  she  usually  tried  to  skip  past  the  fun  drunk  part  right  into  blackout  territory  .  not  the  healthiest  plan  ,  but  she’d  take  it  over  being  embarrassed  for  the  rest  of  her  life  .  “  where  are  we  doing  this  ?  ”  she  asks  ,  her  manicured  fingernails  clinking  against  the  bottle  in  her  hand  .
