This February I’m teaching my little man about the forefathers of Black Music! Black History month is a time to honor the ancestors who paved the path and pioneered through adversity! Jazz, Bop, Swing, and Big Bands are big in our house so it is fitting that the first album cover I recreated in the Knox BHM Album Covers Reimagined Series is none other than Sammy Davis Jr. ‘The Shelter In Your Arms’ this album was released in 1964 so I had to tame Knox’s fro to recreate the classic 60’s look! Yes! Tonight’s opening for our @bowiestateuniversity @vcdma student Art & Design showcase ‘The Bowie We Want To See’ at @bowiearts was hype! Thank you to all the @bowiestateuniversity students who came to represent! The artwork looked superb and even our Q&A after the screening of our until Unity Mural documentary made such an impact! @theamberrayne @mynameischeonsa @okmani were poised and were ready to speak their truths tonight! @nattyjedi @tmanjets came through with their dope photos and films among many others and @konqueso__ for totally blowing my mind tonight with your music videos! Special shout to my insanely talented former and current students that showcased work and saw tonight @spunkly @shanareno_ @veerapfaffli @dethroned.lemniscate @ddotvisualz @itsrbeezy @tuckshootitall @travonne.walker and MANY MORE that make and continue to produce dope artwork! The show will be up for the entire month of February! (at Bowie Center for the Performing Arts)

✊🏽 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE! This is happening!! @bowiestateuniversity @theclariceumd BSU + UMD Unity Mural Is now in residence at the Maryland House of Delegates in Annapolis! We made it all the way to the state delegates!! What an honor to have the work of our students in a place where policies are formed each day! It is our hope that with each delegate that passes by the Mural they are reminded that injustices will not stand in our state and that we won’t let hate divide us! I want to believe that both schools coming together to promote the power of art that heals surpasses so much more than paint on a canvas! Please come out to @bowiearts for the first ever screening of the behind the scenes documentary created and produced by my @vcdma photojournalism Students! We are extremely proud to showcase this!
