UPDATE! PERCY IS HOME!!

On Saturday night, Percy abruptly flew off our balcony in Pyrmont, Sydney, and into the dark. We thought we’d lost her.

After five days of scouring the neighbourhood, flyering, social media'ing and phone calls, a kindly stranger picked her up— she’d somehow found her way to Manoosh Pizza in Marrickville, 8km away! (Not surprised— our girl loves pizza.)

Someone recognised her from the local lost & found board, and connected us to Marrickville Vet where she’d been brought.

She’s home now, healthy but exhausted. We’re feeding her all of her favourite grains and veggies, thanking our lucky stars for this Christmas miracle. Cheers and many well wishes to everyone for their care and love in bringing our baby bird home.

Around 9pm on December 10th, Percy flew out the window of our apartment in Pyrmont, Sydney, Australia.

We’re frantically searching the neighborhood, but we haven’t found her yet. I know this is a long shot, but if anyone sees her, please please please try to catch her. She’s very tame and friendly, and will come to you if called.

I’m not sure if i have any fellow Sydney bird bloggers on here but please signal boost this! I’d suggest you also contact vets around the area, even the bird and exotics vet @jyllish . If you can place her cage outside with food anywhere, it might encourage her to come. Keep calling her name! Social media like Facebook and instagram can help too (I’m sure you’re ontop of that already)and flyers may also help. Good luck

I’ve put her house and favorite toys on the balcony, and have been playing cockatiel songs on the stereo, speakers faced out the window. Left our details with every vet and shelter and rescue service in the greater Sydney area. Coated social media and the five-block radius with posters. Walked around every morning and evening calling to her. Nothing yet. :(

The bit that’s killing me is that when I look for her, I do a silly imitation of her flock call (sounds nothing like her, but always works to get a reaction), and the lorikeets have started imitating me. :(
