What Do You Want?
A random thought occured to me today as I was struggling with some stuff. What is my goal here? At college, in life, on earth, what am I aiming for? Whenever I'm playing video games or doing homework my thought is always on what I want my end result to be, so what steps do I have to take to get there? I need to start focusing on the bigger picture here, what do I want my end result to be? Am I after success? If so, how do I measure success? In wealth? Influence? Popularity? Am I after love? Would enjoying the company of my family be enough? Would I be complete simply with a woman I knew I loved beside me? Maybe I want to be immortalized, to leave my mark on this world, in the form of good works, generous offerings, or maybe just being important enough that somebody makes a statue of me. In the end, I think I just want to be happy. I think that's all anyone wants, to be happy. Whether they know it or not. The tricky part is learning how to be happy. What I need to start doing is learning how to let the little things make me happy. Immortalization, power, and wealth won't make me happy, nor even will love in and of itself I don't think. I have to make an effort to be happy, I have to make an effort to enjoy every last minute that life has to offer. Regardless of what circumstances in my life may look like at that time, I need to find things to make me happy, to make me enjoy life.
