Yasmin laughed with Zachary's words. "I tried to get her to do more, too," she joked in return, though she hadn't been all that pushy on the matter all those years ago. "It is." Her smile was warm with the thought of such a thing. "Some other mom or dad is going to have to wrestle their kid out of it and it will become a fond memory one day." Though perhaps not one in the moment. "Memories are nice to come across." Yasmin knew that, but she had recently lost the last of her childhood memories in the last house fire. "I'm good." She answered honestly, meaning it. "Living in the house has been great. I'm glad it's finally finished and I've been adding all the personal touches it was lacking." Yasmin explained, "Maisie is absolutely fond of all the window perches she can find to watch wildlife, too." @zacharyrthompson

Zachary's eyes met the other's and he laughed, despite the look of betrayal that was plastered on his face. "And to think I was about to tell you how much I adored you, but now I take it back." he joked. "Trying to convince my mom to take my prized possession away from me and break my heart." he added, shaking his head. "Yeah, you're right about that." Zachary nodded. "I think I may put it away. Save it for my own kid." he shrugged. "Or give it to Renee; I'm not sure if she's going to want it, but, she's going to have a kid before I will." he shrugged, attention refocusing on Yasmin as she stated that she were doing well. "I need to come by and check out the place now that you're starting to decorate it more." he stated. "I haven't seen it since they were in the final building touches." he admitted. "I'm happy that you - and Maisie - are enjoying the new place." @yasminxmoreno

He had come out around here to relax and let go, but hadn't crossed paths until now. "I've been here before," he didnt care much anymore, so he wasn't going to give a lot right now. He got himself up and back to his feet, knowing that lying down on the docks was a bit weird, so he wanted to get out of the way. Hearing what the man started to say, he turned his head. "Paramedic guy?" He didn't get called that, but half the time he didnt think that people knew he finished more schooling to become a paramedic over an EMT last year. Watching the other try to get his name, he made a face. "River..." he wasn't going to give his last name as of yet. "Fuck, man' he looked at him, annoyed. "You look like shit too," not that the other man did, but River wasn't in the mood to be taking stuff like that right now. @zacharyrthompson

As the other stated he'd been out there before, Zachary nodded. "Fantastic." he stated, a little sarcastically. "I have also, but, that doesn't mean that I look familiar to anyone." he added, though, let his tone soften for a minute just in case the other wasn't in the mood for banter. He'd quickly learn that he wasn't. "Yeah." Zach nodded as the other questioned, making Zach raise his eyebrow again. "Are you not him?" he asked, tone a little more harsh. "Because if not you're his doppelganger." he admitted, though, nodded when the other corrected his name. "River, right." he nodded. "Sorry. I knew it was something in that nature." he apologized, though, immediately regretted it the second the other cursed at him, and then told him he looked like shit too. "What are we children?" he questioned. "That's my way of asking if you're alright." he stated, taking a step back, tossing his hands up in defeat. "Clearly you don't want to be bothered, so, never mind." he stated, turning and walking the other way towards the boat he'd been working on before he took his break a moment ago. @riverxjackson

Once the whistle was blown and Zach started to direct the people away from the docks, it wasn't long before the way was cleared for them both to get to the hole that needed to be patched up. "No way. A megaphone would have been perfect, honestly. It forces people to hear, even if they still won't always listen. Whistle comes in handy, though. It gets used...a lot at the beaches this time of year," she snorted, head shaking gently. Her job was certainly never a dull one once tourist season started up and the beaches got more crowded. It was her favorite part of the year, though, always having something to do compared to the slow times of the year. "But, yeah, of course. I'm sure I've got some extra rope we can tie off this section with," she nodded, nimbly hopping back up to her yacht to dig around for whatever supplies she could muster up. There was always a collection of extra things on the yacht and she managed to find enough rope to block everything off enough for the time being. "Good with a hammer? Zach, baby, I've never met someone better at nailing things than me. I've learned many a skill in shop class."

"I'll add it to my shopping list for the next time I'm out here because I'd be swarmed with people still if you didn't have that thing." he admitted. He'd always considered himself to be the kind of person who's voice naturally projected, even if he wasn't one that often found the need to speak loudly. He was just thankful that in most cases, it worked well for him. As the other stated that she may have some rope in her yacht, Zach let himself chuckle, shaking his head. "Shit, sounds like I may as well go ahead and stock you up with whatever supplies your missing that way anytime I need anything out here I can just come find you." he stated, following her onto the yacht so that she could hear him still even when she was out of eyesight, only following her once she'd retrieved the rope and a hammer. When she questioned him, he nearly replied before his brain caught up and he realized that she were teasing him. "You're in shop class?" he questioned, though, it wasn't because he didn't believe it. He didn't but not for the mere reason she were a girl like he was sure most people got. "I just -" he paused. "From what I know about you you're naturally good at everything, and no, I'm not just saying that because you're standing there." @aliyebalik

She took a deep breath and shrugged. "I like to be prepared." At least when it came to food. She liked meal prepping and making sure things were ready for herself when she needed them both at home and the inn. She found it to be comforting and honestly, that was something she really needed right now. She got a baking dish out and started getting things together to make it. As Zach asked how she was, she shrugged. "I'm doing good. The morning sickness has left for the most part. The only thing I can't stand is fish smell still." She laughed and shook her head. It was definitely hard when her brother and Tyler worked around fish to get away from the smell, but something made her sick every time she smelled it. "But we're going to find out if you're gonna have a niece or nephew soon." She smiled at him a moment. "What about you?" @zacharyrthompson

"That you do." Zachary nodded. He'd even argue it had been like that most of his life; she'd been the prepared and more organized one while Zachary had lived his life on the more chaotic side. Winging his way through life. It had always worked for him, but he couldn't deny the tiniest bit of sibling jealousy that had come along with it. His eyes shifted from the prep work he was doing at the mention of fish, causing his body to sink a little. "Oh." the word was short, almost apologetic as he looked back at his sister. "I'll be sure to change anytime I'm coming over before I come in." he added. Granted, that would likely make his trek to visit his family a little harder as his home wasn't exactly down the street from work, but, he'd do whatever to keep everyone content. And if the smell of fish made his sister sick, he'd be damned if he wouldn't fix it. "I better be first on that invite list." Zach smiled, tossing his sister a wink as he then began prep work on the food. "I'm alright." he nodded. "Things with Corey are about the same as always." he shrugged, referring to the guy he'd been seeing long term for the last couple years. "I should bring him to the gender reveal." It was no secret that Corey wasn't someone that found himself involved in Zachary's life a lot; between his travel and their private relationship, it wasn't unusual for Zach's boyfriend to not show up for much in regards to his family. Yasmin had practically spent all of her life being friends with Nancy Thompson, which meant that she knew both Renee and Zachary well. While she never had children of her own, she loved them something fierce. "I mean, she's not wrong about that." Yasmin couldn't help but agree, a soft laugh passing over her lips. "Both of you did grow up in a blink of an eye." She smiled in his direction, watching as he pulled out a denim jacket. "I do remember that. I honestly half expected you to still be trying to wear it." Yasmin teased with another laugh. "You wanted to do everything in that jacket and when your mom needed to wash it, we might as well asked for the impossible." @zacharyrthompson

"I complain all the time that Mom should've done more to stop it." Zachary joked, though the statement wasn't exactly a joke. He missed the days where he were innocent, curious about the life that he'd grow into. "Being an adult is for the birds." he admitted with a shake of his head. As she added about the jacket, he let himself laugh a little harder. "No I remember." he laughed. "There's an entire photo album somewhere that's just photos of me in this thing." he paused. "I loved it, but I know it's going to go to another really great kid." he added, looking at her and folding it neatly before putting it back in the box. "I missed it." he stated. "But it's nice to look at again. So many memories in this thing." he added, eyes shifting back to Yasmin. "How are you, though? I could talk about this damn jacket all day." @yasminxmoreno

There was rarely a dull moment out on the docks and for once Aliye was not the cause of the commotion. She was up on her yacht doing some maintenance and cleaning, which at this point had turned into mostly watching and rolling her eyes at the people causing a fuss. She would have been happy to stand back and let the crowd do their thing, but when she locked eyes with Zach and could sense that he was getting frustrated about the chaos of it, she offered a quick smile and patted her chest to let him know she was on it. Twirling her lifeguard whistle from around her neck, Aliye put it to good use, blasting out a long, loud note to gather people's attention. "Listen up! Docks are closed, get the hell home!" she yelled out, motioning towards the other end of the docks where the exit was for people to start thinning the crowd enough so Zach could actually do what he needed to do. Blowing the whistle a few extra times for good measure, she continued waving her arm, pointing people away from the broken wood. Hopping down from her boat when there was enough room, she slipped through some of the people to get to Zach. "I swear tourist season gets worse here every year. How else can I help? What's the word, chief?"

The sound of the whistle made Zach snicker as some of the crowd began to groan and grumble at the sound, something he himself had found to be music to his ears. No one could resist paying attention to the sound of a whistle, especially when it was blown a few times to regain attention. "You heard her, get out." he added, a nod of his head as he pointed towards the exit himself, arm waving as that of an attendant on the runway. It was only when the crowd had fully cleared out and he was standing at the hole in the dock, Aliye's question ringing in his ears that he let his gaze pry from the problem. "Remind me to get one of those." he stated. "I felt a megaphone was too extreme but I forget how intense tourist season gets around here." he added, kneeling so that he could remove the net from the hole. "Well." he paused. "You happen to have anything in that house of yours we can use to rope off this area?" he questioned. "I have some wood at home to patch this up and fix it, but, it's going to take me some time to back here and the last thing I need is someone suing because it was broken." he paused. "And if you're any good with a hammer I'll even be nice enough to let you help if you want." @aliyebalik

River was out by the ocean at the end of some small dock he had found and was sitting at the end of it. He had been feeling so bad lately that his hair and beard had grown out. But he still kept it nice for work, and he could do his job. He tossed a handful of rocks he had picked up into the water, soon tossing the last one. "Great," he sighed and lay back on the dock, looking up at the sky, which was slowly becoming dark out.

He really didnt notice anyone around. It was pretty cool out due to the time of day, so he knew why the beach cleared out, and he was closer to the boat docks, so not as many people walked around there. @zacharyrthompson

“You’re not a face I recognize out here.” Zach stated, eyes focusing on the other as he paused at the end of the dock himself. Being a dock master and someone that was out here fairly regularly, the male found it hard to forget a face. He shifted, weight moving from one heel to the other, eyes focusing on the man laying in the dock as if trying to burn his face into his memory. “You lost or-“ Zach paused, eyes raising as he looked at the other. “Wait you’re that paramedic guy aren’t you?” He asked. “Lake or Ocean or Brooks or something?” He paused, shaking his head. If there was anything about Zachary that people could collectively say was true about him, it was that he were honest. Maybe not with his own thoughts and feelings but definitely about someone else. “You kind of look like shit.” @riverxjackson

2Alex had always been a morning person, it was when she felt she could get the most done. Smiling brightly as she sat down across from Zach, she laughed slightly at him jumping and cursing. “I’ll think about it, but probably not.” She teased playfully. “I mean why would I tell when you I could have this reaction ever time.” Smirking at him before she winked. “Aww sweetie we both know you’re not soulless. That’s saved for gingers.” She reassured him before taking a sip of her iced coffee. “Although the coffee in the cup could be a little bit lighter. I mean— don’t you want to enjoy the little things in life like milk or creamer?” Taking a napkin in her hand and she playfully tossed it at him. "See this is how I know it's never work out between us in a lavender marriage. "You sound like my sister." Zach stated, lifting the cup in front of him and bringing it to his lips, taking a sip as he shook his head. "Sometimes I think people like to do that shit to me just because I'm quiet and they know it works." he admitted, clearly proving a point by being a little overly dramatic that she'd scared him. At least it was her. He'd have been a little more annoyed if it were anyone else. Yet, just as soon as the compliment escaped his lips she were teasing him about his coffee choice and Zach exhaled, shaking his head. "I was just beginning to like you again." he paused. "And then you had to start bothering me again." he added, though the smirk on his face were obvious he was only kidding. "I do enjoy the little things in life. Like getting on your damn nerves." he spoke. "Your loss, honestly. I'd be a great husband in a lavender marriage." @alexandraxrivers

Renee watched as her brother gave the laundry to their mother to fold. She knew one of them would do it in a heartbeat, but their mom insisted and dinner needed to get done. A worried look was on her face, as it seemed to always be when she was around their mom these days, and she took a breath as she looked at Zach; both going into the kitchen. "She does. The chemo is going good." She said and rubbed her temple a little. "Yeah. We can do the casserole. It sounds good still, luckily." She definitely knew that could change at any moment. "Yeah, yeah. I know." She smiled and went to go grab some of the vegetables out. "I already removed the seeds one the peppers so they just need chopped and I precooked the chicken and shredded it last night so that's ready to go." @zacharyrthompson

Zachary knew that their mother's diagnosis hadn't been easy on either of them, but he knew it had been exceptionally harder on Renee as she'd been the one taking on the brunt of the work. Not that Zachary wasn't, between working down at the docks as the harbor master or at the bait and tackle shop, he'd also been helping out at the inn too, popping in and out whenever he felt his presence was needed or whenever he wanted to come out and be helpful. Not that he wasn't normally, Zachary had been going to the inn and helping out whenever he could for as long as he could remember. There was a reason he'd always referred to is as his second home. As he stepped foot into the kitchen, eyes focusing on his sister he let himself raise an eyebrow in her direction as if he were trying to make sure she were okay without having to ask. Yet as she began talking about the vegetables and all the things that came along with them, Zachary let himself nod, making his way to the first thing on the list. Chopping vegetables. "I shouldn't have doubted you didn't already have half of dinner planned and prepped." he laughed, chopping the vegetables finely, but not so finely that they would be nearly impossible to do anything with inside the casserole. "How're you doing?" he asked, gaze focused on the food in front of him while trying to engage in small talk with his sister. @reneevthompson

"Okay, back up." Zach called, tool box in hand as he tried to make his way through the crowd that had gathered on a nearby dock. He'd stopped at one of the light poles nearby, leaning against it as someone began shouting something towards him, which in return made him close his eyes, shaking his head. "Okay -" he paused. "I can't help anyone if you don't let me through." Though it was only whenever he made his way through the crowd he realized there wasn't actually anything to be causing this much fuss about. A broke piece of wood which had resulted in someone sticking a net in it to go fishing. Useful way to resource what you had, if you asked him. "Alright, everyone has to leave -" yet he was interrupted by someone else yelling at him about something he still couldn't make out. It was only during that time he saw Aliye, tossing her a look that held both humor and also a 'help me please'. "If you're not going to listen I have to call in reinforcements and I can promise you no one wants that."

"You know -" Zach paused, holding up a finger as he turned on his heels, letting himself pick up a box from behind the counter. "I was going through some stuff at Mom's house the other day and we started talking, basically about how she blinked and I grew up." he laughed, opening the box and pulling out a denim jacket that had been hand sewn by someone - he still wasn't sure who'd made it - with dinosaur scales on it - and holding it up. "Do you remember this? I swear I wore it until I just literally couldn't get my arms in it anymore and I don't think anyone else besides you would appreciate seeing this again." He smiled a little wider. "I can almost remember that time in my life vividly you know."

"Alright, Momma." Zach smiled, placing the laundry basket next to the couch and giving his mom a quick kiss on the head. "Fresh laundry like you asked; I switched the clothes from the washer too so everything's going to be fine for the next hour at least." he stated, turning on his heels to look at his younger sister who was standing in the doorway of their mother's kitchen. "I'm going to be Renee's sous chef for dinner, so you don't have to lift a finger outside of folding that laundry, which you insisted on." he winked, though left the room, joining his sister in the kitchen.

"She looks like she feels pretty good today." he admitted, moving to the sink to immediately wash his hands, a habit their mother had formed in him a lot growing up. "What are we thinking for dinner? You still in the mood for that casserole we talked about last week or have our taste buds evolved since then?" he questioned. "I'm just here to chop things or measure whatever you need, you know you're the one standing over the stove doing the hard part right?"

Zach was sitting at what had become his favorite booth in The Coffee Carousel, eyes focused outside the window as he nursed his cup of black coffee. His friends joked the only people that liked black coffee were the ones with no souls and Zach often didn't have the heart to argue. Instead he'd nod, move on about his day. That was about all he had time for these days anyways. He hadn't realized he'd been joined, and he turned his head, catching sight of the blonde he jumped slightly. "Shit." he cursed. "Maybe speak next time." he exhaled, taking a sip of his coffee. "I would've offered you a seat; I'm not as soulless as this black coffee apparently makes me think I am."
