Not Enough

The first time Chloe sees her, they’re nine. Chloe holds her head high as she exits her limo, dressed in a sleek yellow dress. She looks good for the first day of school, even if her mother wouldn’t say so. She waves off her chauffeur. She isn’t nervous. Chloe is a Bourgeois. Her family rules this city. She isn’t nervous. It doesn’t matter that her father couldn’t ride with her to school. He is a very busy man. She knows he is a very busy man. She starts striding towards the school, every step purposeful, confident. Just like her mother taught her. The sound of laughter stops her in her tracks. She turns her head slightly, to see another girl her age. Her heart twinges, and she can’t tear her eyes off the girl.

This girl, with the worn pink overalls. This girl, with hearts and flowers stitched in. This girl, with two parents laughing. With two parents hugging her. With two parents steadying her when she almost falls. With two parents who she blows kisses to from the front entrance. This girl, with stunning blue eyes. This girl, who flashes her a brilliant smile as she rushed into the building. This girl, who leaves Chloe gaping, blushing, and uncomfortably aware of how very alone she was. 

She takes a breath, letting a comfortable scowl settle over her face as she makes her way to class. This girl, she decides, is not good. Her happiness is intrusive. Chloe is a Bourgeois. Her family rules this city. This girl doesn’t know who she is messing with.

So first of I love rare pair ships and Chlonette is one of them AH THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE CONTENT!!!

I had to sketch (I did these in ten mins so they look really rushed and a bit trash)

Mean Girls Chlonette AU:

- They met in middle school and Chloe has “hated” Marinette because of the way she feels around her so she teases her for years. She is a bit of Tsundere and Marinette is probs a bit of a Deredere.

- Marinette left for a year and Chloe found herself missing her. She chalks this up to being a habit of ruining Marinette’s day and she is missing their routine not her.

- Marinette returns all tanned and with a newfound confidence from travelling. Chloe is madly attracted to this but she denies it 1000%.

- Lila and is Gretchen and Sabrina is Karen. Lila literally thinks she is so fetch, and she is not as manipulative as the show. Sabrina is just a little la,b following her plastic sisters.

- Upon seeing a newly improved Marinenette, they love the idea of making her a plastic so she is apart of the group. Chloe is hestiatant but accepts it.

- Alya and Nino are Janis and Damian. They encourage Marinette to take the plastics down as they quote “horrible bitches”.

- However instead of destroying the girls, Marinette gets to know them better and better. Eventually completely forgetting the plan to ruin the plastics, becoming distance for Alya and Nino.

- She finds out why Lila lies all the time and helps her cope with her problem, making sure she sees a therapist.

- She encourages Sabrina to be more bold and speak her mind more, and she begins to become more and more independent.

- With Chloe she finally reveals why she has such a cold and nasty attitude towards her, thus revealing Chloe’s feelings for her.

- Marinette agrees to date her, and Chloe is very protective of her soft girlfriend. Stopping rumours and protecting her from make suitors.

- However if anyone bad mouths Chloé they get a face full of Marinette Dupain-Cheng drop kicking them to the Eiffel Tower.

- Alya and Nino confront Marinette and pretty much yell at her for not sticking to the plan. Chloe overhears this and feels used but before she leaves, Marinette yells straight back at the duo.

Marinette: “How about if you stopped moping around and just think about everyone else except yourself then maybe you would have realised that the "plastics” never did anything to you!“

Alya: "You don’t know what she did to me! She was awful if I never stood up for myself I would have been a laughing stock!!”

Marinette: “So?! You’re lowering yourself to the level of the so called "plastics” you hate by being so petty as to destroy their friendship.“

Alya: “Yes I am.”

Marinette: “You called them plastic because of what they represent to you. But you think you’re better than that. You can pretend you’re not. But you’re plastic. Cold, shiny, hard plastic.”

- Marinette walks away only to be engulf by Chloe who is absolutely in love with gf at this point.

- Chloe is never hit by a bus but Alya had a close call…

- after the events of miracle queen hawkmoth becomes silent for a month, with only 2 minor akumas

- chloe feels really awful and everyone at school is giving her the cold shoulder. she doesn’t blame them though.

- they start a new year of school. a few kids are moved out of their usual class. lila, juleka, kim, max, chloe, and marinette end up in a new class together

- max sits with kim, and juleka sits with lila (because lila says marinette and chloe’s triggers triggers her asthma) so chloe and marinette sit next to eachother grudgingly. they’ve been table partners for about a month.

- hawkmoth comes back with an akuma that traps people in their own personal night terrors (like sandboy, except they fall asleep and thrash around screaming of what’s happening in their dreams)

- ladybug nearly gets hit and chloe takes the hit for her

- ladybug realizes that chloe threw herself in harms way to help protect ladybug, without any motive or hesitation, even knowing that she’d be placed into a sleep filled with her worst nightmare, just to save ladybug so she can get the akuma

- ladybug hurries off and beats the akuma

- she quickly goes to find chloe to make sure she’s okay

- a lot of people were still shaken after that akuma, as it was a pretty mentally destructive one

- she finds chloe sitting on the fountain, in the park that’s across from marinette’s place

- when ladybug comes to speak to chloe, she notices her blond hair is down and her eyes were puffy from crying

- “thank you for what you did, chloe.” marinette gives a gentle smile at her, underneath the mask.

- “yeah... um... i wanted to apologize for betraying you, siding with hawkmoth...stealing the miraculous box... everything i did.” marinette is a little bit shocked. chloe países a few times to swallow thickly.

- “i know you won’t trust me again, and I don’t expect to hold another miraculous, but i hope you know i’ll always help you to try and make this up.” before marinette can say anything, she starts again. “a girl in my class is really kind to me, even though i’ve been the biggest bitch to her. i’m trying to change, to be more like her. I don’t want to be mean anymore,” she sighs. shutting her eyes so the tears don’t start again. marinette wonders who this girl is.

- “chloe, i’m so glad you’re working on being a better person... i hope we can become teammates again?” she smiles. chloe beans and nods.

- ok a few years pass and now they’re in what’d be their junior year of high school (i don’t understand french school system i think it’s 2nd year of lycèe?)

- chloe and marinette become somewhat friends, when marinette struggles with physics, chloe reveals how smart she is in that subject and offers to teach her

- (don’t worry chloe is still snarky and sour but often in good fun or teasing nature)

- one day marinette stays late to study in the library, and when she goes to leave her dad asks her to go to one of her friend’s house that lives close by, because there’s a storm and he can’t leave because of the traffic

- she sighs and goes to leave to see Alya’s house, but lila see’s her and grabs her arm, asking how she managed to become friends with chloe, and that she’d turn chloe against her too (which marinette doesn’t understand, she’d gotten over adrien a long time ago)

- lila leaves and mari begins the walk in the cold rain to Alya’s

- a car pulls over and marinette sees chloe, who tells her to get in

- chloe takes her to the hotel, she showers and borrows some of chloe’s clothes, and then they sit on her bed and kind of just chat

- chloe had given her a Kitty Sevtion shirt to wear, and she’s like “i didn’t know you liked Kitty section!”

- “yeah well... someone on it is pretty cute. also their music is really good.” she shrugs. marinette is interested.

- “is it luka?” “ugh, no. that’s ridiculous.” “it’s ok, i’m not one of those girls who try and stop other girls from dating her ex.”

- “marinette?” “yeah?” “i don’t like boys.”
