Adrien hears them before he sees them.
As he rounds the corner he comes face to face to an⊠intriguing scene.
Felix is chatting away with Marinette, their voices loud enough to be heard from a distance but not enough that he can make out the exact words theyâre saying.
Felix looks happy. Well, thereâs mirth in his eyes but thatâs always how he looked. But heâs grinning down at her and snickering from time to time.
Marinette though⊠sheâs acting different than usual. Sheâs normally so sweet and caring, itâs weird seeing her act so guarded towards someone. Maybe with Lila as an exception. Sheâs frowning at his cousin, her usual bright and bubbly smile nowhere to be seen. Instead her posture and expression scream distrustfulness. Sheâs telling something to Felix quite animatedly, arms crossed in front of her, when he leans closer and says something he canât catch, but Marinette is suddenly flustered and annoyed. As she fumes Felix steps even closer, a smirk on his face. Adrien feels his hackles rise when suddenly their hands clasp together as they keep bickering about something, Marinette smiling dangerously as Felix cackled.
They were acting like they were close. Very close.
A weird sensation churned in his belly as Plagg snickered in his ear, murmuring something that sounded like âJealous?â
But why? He should be glad Felix got along with more people his age. Especially with his friends. Especially with Marinette, one of his best friends and an incredible, wonderful girl.
Maybe it was because they had immediately clicked? Itâd taken a long time for him and Marinette to deepen their friendship. She had acted so tensely and awkwardly around him for so long, barely able to hold a conversation without running away.
And Felix just came in, marched up to her and struck conversation as if theyâd known each other for a while now, when theyâd just met.
Ok so maybe he was a little jealous.
Even if it irked him, he decided to approach the pair. Partly out of curiosity partly because he wanted to stick with Marinette. Maybe this was all a misunderstanding and he was getting riled up over nothing? It had happened before.
Maybe Marinette just didnât like him, the self-deprecating part of his mind pointed out.
He shook his head, walking towards the quarreling duo.
âFelix! Marinette!â He called. âWhat are you guys doing here?â
They both turned quickly as they separated. Marinette flushed red before looking away. Meanwhile Felix smiled innocently at him. Too innocently.
âNothing!â The both of them said at the same time, not meeting his eyes.
Adrien felt himself frown. They were acting suspicious. Especially Felix. Since the impersonation debacle his trust on him had diminished, and Marinette was very precious to him.
âI see,â Adrien drawled, looking from one to the other. He should keep an eye on Felix. He was scheming something. Him and Marinette shouldnât be alone together without Adrien knowing, for the time being. Only because Felix was acting suspiciously of course.
