Sketched someone (guess who) to congratulate myself for finishing my last college animation project for my first year second semester assignment for my BA animation and motion design course. I had to animate/recreate a scene from a movie and I chose 🐞because I loved that movie and it was so relatable and Saoirse Ronan is an amazing actress and she deserves to be drawn :). I might post my finished scene recreation just for the sake of working on it for over a month haha, I’m proud of the amount of time I spent making it, thought it’s definitely far from perfect 💁

This is as far as I got! The scene recreation for my sweeding project.

The timing is a bit off.

A project that I worked on for my course in LSAD BA animation and motion design project. As a task we had to recreate a scene from a movie in any way we wanted. I chose the movie ‘Lady Bird’ and the ending scene from this movie. Unfortunately, I did not manage to animate the whole scene that I chose, which originally was 1:46 long, to fit in the time frame of this whole project I had to shorten the scene a bit and did 1:05 in the scene, which I’m still very proud of. I used rotoscoping as my primary method of creation. Everything was done digitally using Procreate on my IPad and drawn frame by frame, it also allowed me to get more familiar with digital art and using the ‘animation assist’ in the program, which I found very useful. Overall I really enjoyed working on this project, it also allowed me to learn a lot about camera movements, angles, the principles of animation and also the fact how much time, thought and patients it actually requires to make something move. I took approximately one month on this project (which was the time frame for this project till the end of the second term) creating all the roughs: scene analysing, essay, camera shot lists, storyboards, scripts, animatic, drawing, production, post production, audio. All I can say is that I can’t wait to learn more!

For my sweeding project I took a lot of inspiration from Isao Takahata's 'The take of Princess Kaguya' when I saw this animation movie I fell in love with it's simplistic and very natural style which I adore so much in 2D animations.

Posting some more work in progress, sadly I don't think that I will manage to animate the whole chosen scene, as I still have a bit of work left and little time, but I'm happy with the amount of animation so far, it feels good.

This scene took me awhile to produce, I worked on it for around 3 days straight just wanted to do it right as much as I could using the procreate, which can be very painful to use sometimes. I’m quiet happy with this scene I guess.

Further work in progress. Trying to figure out which parts of the scene draw with the character to animate at the same time, because sadly I can only have one background in procreate. It slows down the work a bit. I'm happy that I at least managed to animate 46 secs in the scene that I chose, with the amount of time that we have :).
