My final garment:
These are the photos taken by bob of my final piece which is the corset top. I thought it would be nice to pair it with the sunset pants since it matched the vibe of the top. I added purple ribbon to my models are to emphasize the purple colour. I also thought it would be best to have her hair up so u could see the back of the top. Her eyeshadow was also purple to stay on theme of the monochrome look.
These are my chosen 6 designs with a front, back and side view. I altered a few looks so they would be more appealing and I’m really happy with the outcome :)
I did 16 sketches of ideas for my sustainable reconstruction project. From here I will chose a final 6 ideas. I will consider the amount of fabric I have to work with.
Continuation of last post
Here I was reworking the garments on the mannequin after seam ripping them all. The process was complex because the garment wasn’t long enough to reach the back but was still very fun.
Here are my garments on the mannequin and one of my friends. I used a seam ripper to to deconstruct both garments.
Fashion:
I chose 2 garments for the fashion elective. I have garment research for each piece. I chose these garments because there is a big contrast between the two of them.
'MOVEMENT' PROJECT STATEMENT;
My chosen electives were Fashion. print and graphic design.
My take on movement when I was first given the brief was water but after I had time to think about it I came to the different conclusion of exploring movement with the help of my mind map. I was able to sway away from that idea and went with the theme of a 'night out'. To gather some primary research I went on nights out and that's when it all started coming together.
The first elective I went with was print because I thought it would be easy to bring that into fashion then into graphic design. I took photos of cocktails and used that as a starting point. Print was a struggle to wrap my head around at first but it all came together in the end and I was printing onto fabrics in no time.
The next elective I went with was fashion. Here is where my ideas started to blossom. Working with both your imagination and what's in front of you, was something I really enjoyed doing. The print elective mixed really well with fashion because I was able to bring the fabrics I printed on and experiment with them on a mannequin.
Next was graphic design. It was something I really enjoyed but I found it hard to link it back to fashion but I made it work in the end . Graphic requires a lot of patience and precision. Print plays a huge part in graphics so it was easy to link the 2. I was constantly developing my ideas with the support of my tutors and the rest of the staff.
I was trying my best to be consistent so I went on more nights out and found some more ideas to work with. I was happy with how everything turned out and I really think I've improved and learned a lot from semester 1. After trying out all 3 electives I am hoping to be apart of the fashion discipline.
This is my wall for movement. I can see a big difference from my display last semester. I think I captured each elective vividly and how each of them worked with each other. For print I put up things like my letter block prints and my sisters rings that went onto fabrics. For graphic I put the album cover I did and my zine. For fashion I have a print I did onto fabric and my mannequin that has my corset of vapes I collected. I wanted to display my efforts in each elective and I am pleased with how everything turned out and I really think I grasped the concept of a night out through movement.
