Last Brief
Hey Tumblr,
The project is finished now. The pitch went alright, I didn't speak much partly due to my having social anxiety and hating speaking in front of a room of people but also because James did most the work so he spoke about what he did and Zu is better at speaking in public.
I liked the group project. The point, I think, was to get us working with people we don't really know but I already knew both people in my group so I missed out on that part but I still felt I learned from the experience. I learned how to work in a group and if I were to do it again I'd try and communicate better because I feel there were some misunderstandings along the way but it all worked out in the end.
For the first brief (Mini-me) I much preferred that brief as I loved getting to go out to parts of Limerick I hadn't been to before (I'm not from here) and just sitting down and sketching the place while talking to people in the class I hadn't spoken to before. I liked getting to go outside and sketch things in real time and it's something I still do now. Researching children's book illustrators was fun and trying to replicate the style has influenced my style.
The sculpture part was fun too, it's something I didn't expect going into an animation course but I liked the challenge. My mini-me may not have come out the prettiest but I think it represents me well. It made me realise just how inter-disciplinary animation can be.
All-in-all I liked the briefs I was given and can't wait to see what second year has in store :)
