He's getting used to these visits from...himself.

If wormholes can open in the sky and arrogant billionaires can become superheroes, the existence of the multiverse doesn't feel that far off base.

He can't argue with the literal evidence in front of him. The most disappointing aspect about his counterpart, however, has to be the wardrobe choice. Oh, and the facial hair. Talk about a Tony Stark wannabe. He's told the sorcerer so on multiple occasions.

When Stephen walks into his office at the hospital, his shoulders sag. The usual eye roll follows.

"Great. You're here. Bringing your characteristic 'good news' I can only assume?"

His interactions with this version of himself are always…bittersweet. It stings to see the personality that used to drive him forward, but it’s also an odd comfort to see himself before everything. Before Thanos, before Dormammu and before the accident. This Stephen is one that has yet to live through all that, and there’s a horrible part of him that’s fascinated by it all.

And then, of course, there’s also the question of whether this Stephen will even live through those events, or if he’s destined to be the Douchebag Surgeon his entire life.

“You’re as welcoming as ever, I see,” he replies, answering the eye roll with a little smirk, clearly enjoying being a nuisance. “There’s a breach in reality again and some…interdimensional bacteria, so to speak, has slipped. Big fuckers. I need to take care of them before they do any meaningful damage, and I’m gonna need a place to stay while I track them down.” Stephen’s smirk grows, ready to see the other’s expression represent how troublesome this will all be for him. “Who else but another me to host me, right?”

Stephen adores her. Loves her, even, but cannot bring himself to say it. It’s a secret that he keeps close to his heart, known to no one but him. And yet, it’s a secret so large that it can’t help but slip past the walls.

Like secret confessions, he peppers kisses on her neck, drawing a line that starts just under Sylvie’s ear and that concludes between her breasts. With every contact his lips make with her skin, with every lingering press, he’s telling her that he would make the burn for her if she so wished.

When he kisses his way back up to her lips, he’s telling her that he make the stars collide for her, and when their lips meet and part, when their tongues meet in a furious dance, Stephen tells her that he would break reality at her command.
