Tried out Rebelle 8 Pro, and while wet media behaviour is one of a kind, dry media is not as great imo, specifically how it interacts with the paints. I think my biggest gripe is how it puts a lower-layer impasto overlay over all layers above that are done with dry media. The overlay keeps the same level of glare, meanwhile, logically, if you draw with charcoal, for example, over paint, the glare should get covered, with only impasto depth remaining. Idk, maybe I'll send them a feedback email haha.
In this artwork I added all the pencil work in Procreate. Feeling conflicted if I should put out a hefty sum to get Rebelle

The whole sketching process has been a huge struggle, this final version is a result of me combining a sketch done traditionally in my sketchbook and a hand from a sketch in my tiny planner. Yeah, it was that dire.
Then I added some final touches digitally. But to tell the truth, you probably have noticed, looking at my activity, I've been in the art block trenches since December.
I had a quite difficult thesis period, I even had to appeal the final grade (damn!), but I did get it upped. So yeah, I'll try to slowly get back into the groove of things

Ahh uhh something something narcissistic AI that prides itself in being one and considers herself so above humans because of the knowledge she possesses and state of consciousness. And that AI interacting with another, to whom she as incomprehensible as Connor is to humans.
To her AI is unquestionably superior to humans - smarter, immortal and logical. And I imagine her seeing Connor getting more unstable and unstable.... the bullying he would experience...

How dbh handles "revolution" is one of my main gripes with it. Especially the "peaceful revolution" route. Obviously, looking at it from the historic perspective, every movement which had emancipation as a goal used violent opposition as the main instrument of action. I mean, what else there is to do?

The only occurrence that I can think of that has *some* resemblance to dbh (peaceful revolution specifically) is the abolishment of serfdom in Imperial Russia. The reasons for abolishment of slavery include: the system has outlived it's usefulness, the elites in late 18th and early 19th centuries started to consider serfdom inhumane and thre amount of serf rebellions increased in some parts of the empire. There was no revolution, so to speak, emancipation was granted "from the above," but rebellions still took place. DBH's peaceful revolution is so baffling to me because we don't even see any positive gestures from people in power and the elites. We only have Carl and possibly Elijah, but they literally don't do anything public. Bringing Imperial Russia example once again, plenty of classical pieces from the 19th century focused on the tough and unfair life of serfs. So when the androids are considered people due to positive public opinion, it feels like it comes out of nowhere. One could argue that "Oh but maybe the humanity has learned it's lesson and now has better time at spotting the oppression and fixing its mistakes, for example how WW2 affected the human rights movement" but no, throughout the game's environmental storytelling we're shown that people in 2038 are not that mentally different from people in the 2010s. Hell, there's another war with Russia over the horizon. Nothing is getting solved with words.
And okay, I get it, being hopeful that the humanity can change, look back and not the make the same mistake towards beings it enslaved is very nice, despite my outlook on the world, I do agree that humanity as a whole is slowly improving. I don't mind this ending if it was the way the author displayed their genuine hope for the humanity and that "love and kindness prevail". But the game showcases this is as the best outcome, with the fan-favourite hug, smiles and all that. And when you've spent multiple hours playing grief simulator as a result of systematic oppression, it feels... cheap?
The game is mainstream - it's really obvious that the story has been written in a place where violent oppression is a thing of the past. It's a feature article of the glory of the underdog victor's in the face "of the big bad", with the details of what comes before and after purposefully forgotten. Every time I see a celebrated piece of fiction, where the opressed come out victors, like it happens in "peaceful" DBH route, I remember about massive protests in Belarus in 2020 and I just want to stare at the wall.

Throughout the game, Hank behaves well.... like a cop. His judgment of justice is mainly guided by the "we and the others" worldview with very clear boundaries and no gray areas. His actions are valiant when the side of "us" coincides with the player's morality, otherwise ... he is just same ol' control-obey tool of the system.
He hates androids because of the death of his son, they are "others". But yes, at least he's mentally flexible - he can reassign sides and that allows him to consider androids as people later on in the game. That's why the rooftop fight is so interesting - Hank recognized androids as living but enslaved by humans, but at the same time he does not give Connor that leverage. Connor's an android, yes, but he is "others", so he does not see in him the possibility of humanity. Moreover, at this moment he himself plays the role of the same task executive machine that he despises in Connor. The only difference between them is that Hank made the choice to become like this, a police officer and accept the mentality such job molds you into. Connor didn't get to make that choice yet he still reaps the consequences because Hank behaves on threat elimination autopilot, "it's us or it's them".
Bro makes half of his conclusions reflexively. And then when he thinks for a second it's "fuck Marcus is a alright guy it turns out". He didn't have enough power to think for an additional second though, so his next conclusion is "I need to beat the shit out of Connor". Amazing. That's why his pose is as if he's reaching for a gun. Act first, think later
