Back to the penthouse, Kon had gotten his dad an actual bandage, and now was sitting on a couch next to Lex. A conversation was needed, especially about what Kon had overheard.

"I still feel hurt about what you said earlier."

That was a good start, definitely.

"Kon, I don't want to talk about this right now." Lex says weakly, reaching for his laptop. It's a futile attempt at dodging a real talk.

Easily, Kon used his TTK to take away Lex's computer. He set it across the room to where Lex couldn't get it if he tried.

"Tough luck, truly." There was a smile on his face which traveled to his voice as he said that.

Kon crossed his arms now. They were going to talk about this. Kon wasn't going to take no for an answer.

He got his stubbornness from somewhere.

Probably both parents actually.

Lex groans, running both hands over his face. His display of cowardice was futile.

"...Okay. Fine."

He twists himself slightly to face Kon.

"Talk."

Kon moved, fully facing Lex now. "Do you truly think life would be so much better if Kal didn't land on Earth?"

That was a good starting point. Possibly.

Lex opens his mouth to answer, thinks for a moment, and shuts it.

"...Sometimes, yes." He admits slowly. "More recently, however..."

He trails off in thought.

"As horrible as it is to say, Kal-El gave me a son."

"He did. And then you got a grandson. And you're only what?"

Kon paused. "I don't actually know how old you are."

He shook his head. "That's unrelated. Anyway," he took a small breath. "Where would you be right now if Kal didn't land on Earth?"

Kal-El is a moron, but at least he can stand up to me and not make a fool of himself.

[Lex slowly, carefully slips a hand into his breast pocket, slipping out a shard of Kryptonite.]

Kara squints at the sight of it, not connecting it with the slow ache starting to spread through her chest.

“I promise you rocks do not have positive energy. Rose quartz is just pretty.”

Lex's eyes widen in sick delight, before he takes a tentative step closer.

"Rock people is a way to put it."

He picks up on the ignorance almost immediately. It's got him boyishly happy. He holds the stone a little closer to her, teeth bared in a grin.

She tilts her head slightly, leaning over to sniff it before recoiling at the way it burnt her nose.

A slow green vein starts to grow through her arms, spreading with a sickly paleness.

“That rock is disgusting! Where do you rock people find these?!?”

Kara bares her teeth, growling at the rock itself, as if trying to intimidate it.

Her breathing grows shallow, and her hand starts to shake as she reaches out to poke it with a morbid curiousity.

Lex has to hold back a laugh. He makes a face akin to having heartburn when Kara touches the damn thing. He shoves it closer, a manic glint in his eyes

"You Kryptonians are all the same. All of you! Can't resist the curiosity of something you know is wrong. This rock, our rock, the rock we as humans have always had! You know it's not yours, and yet!" Spittle flies from his mouth. "Your sorry definition of 'people' thinks this rock can belong to them as well!"

He throws the Kryptonite towards her without thinking.

"You have a rock! It's not our fault it kills you!"

“…Huh?”

Just the impact of the tiny shard was enough to push her over, the kryptonian being trained enough to know to catch herself. She sits up, with a confused expression.

“It-“

Her eyes move to the kryptonite, and she starts pushing herself away from it frantically.

“I do not know what you are discussing and you are being very confusing! You are a total jerk face!!”

She growls at him, lowering her head like a dog threatening to bite. She knew self defense. Even if she was not at her strength, she always had teeth.

Lex kicks the rock towards her.

"Run away, run away." He chuckles. He lifts his boot, crushing the shard beneath his heel and kicking the dust at Kara.

She looks up at him for a second, coughing in the dust. Kara leans back, before lunging quickly.

She locks her jaw around his leg, teeth already tearing through his suit.

The kryptonian says a muffled come back, completely incomprehensible with his leg in her mouth.

Lex yelps, kicking his leg out before twisting himself to the floor, a fist driving into her jaw.

"Get off of me, you- you vermin-"

”MMMMRGHMMRFGRGRRMMPH!”

A awesome response to any insult.

Once punched she lets go, leaving him with only a large hole in his suit leg and a scratch. Kara looks up at him again, this time with a victorious expression.

”You are STUPID and SMELL LIKE SPOILED MEAT!!”

She spits out her insult bravely, with a snide grin.

He snarls, spitting in her direction as he clutches his leg. In a moment of weakness, he can only think to press a dial on his phone. Call for help.

She suddenly tenses up, realizing that she.. cannot fly away just yet. Regardless! A true warrior will never back down!

“If you are updating your blog, please include the fact that you’re a stinky loser man!”

“HAH!”

He blanks out before releasing a slightly manic giggle.

"I should kill you. I should fucking kill you, but my son would kill me."

”I AM NOT ALLOWED TO USE THAT WORD…”

She’s more focused on the cussing part than the murder thought.

"What are you?" He laughs. Laughs, and laughs.

She stares back, tilting her head.

“I am a child of krypton??? Is this a mind game?? Are you sick??”

He clutches his injured leg closer.

"You, your people, you're all disgusting."

"You don't get it. This planet belongs to humans. You are the furthest thing from human. You are an alien. You are unwelcome. By god, if I could wipe out every last one of you, I would." He staggers to his feet, breathing heavily.

“Ma says I’m always welcome at home.”

"Because you've deluded them. You're a parasite, Kal-El is a parasite, Jon-El is a parasite, leeching off of something that never, ever belonged to you! You all bow down to your "Superman", but he's not a man at all! He isn't human. He isn't right. Neither are you, or any of the vermin you produce!"

Lex's voice shivers and cracks with pure mania.

His phone had gotten called not too long ago. So, after tracking Lex's heart, Conner had flown in, standing behind Lex now.

"What the fuck are ya goin' on about?"

With his arms crossed, he felt the radiation of the Kryptonite, it wasn't as strong or as bad, but he still felt it.

"What the hell are you two doing!?" Kon moved to Lex, checking him over to see where he was hurt. Then he moved to just pick Lex up to he able to bring him home.

Lex's heart drops a bit.

"...Don't mind it, Kon, I-"

He struggles to find the words, faltering in his embarrassment.

"And by your logic, I would be a parasite too." He wasn't making eye contact up until now.

"So what? Am I one too?"

"Kon, no, you know I didn't mean it like that-" He murmurs, trying to compose himself. "You're different."

"Different? Different how? S'fact that I'm half you?" He wasn't going to yell at his dad. But he was going to call him out on his bullshit.

"What does that mean for Jon? Is he different too? He's half Lois Lane. Half human."

"Jon is- he's Kal-El's son, Kon, you're my son, that makes it..." Hearing Lex stammer is... new.

"You're not like them, Kon."

He sounds small.

Kon had to just take a small moment. He put Lex back onto the floor, he sat besides him.

"I'm both your son and Kal's son. I may not be as connected to Kal as I am you, but I'm still his son too."

He had to take another small moment to himself. "If I'm not like them, then what am I? I'm not just yours. If I was just yours I wouldn't have gotten strapped down to a cadmus operating table while they cut me open to figure out how they succeeded with me instead of the other 12 projects. Right? I would have just been a normal kid if I was just yours. I wouldn't have powers, I wouldn't be Superboy.

"I am like them, Dad."

Lex doesn't have a response at first. He sits. Takes a moment to shrug off his overcoat and press it to the wound on his leg.

"You're not theirs."

His voice is low as he searches for the words.

"You don't belong to them. You don't follow their- their values. You're more human than they'll ever be."

He doesn't even sound fully convinced anymore, mortification at himself curled in his chest.

Lex isn't used to being embarrassed.

Kon looks over at where Lex was putting the coat. He helped out, to make sure it was secure.

"I'm actually less human then they would ever be. I'm a clone." He moves slightly.

"They're not parasites. They never were. I need to you to know that. I really do."

Lex shakes his head.

"You belong to this planet. You-" He stops himself, sighing as he places a hand on Kon's shoulder.

"Kon, you don't understand what this is like for me, I- I live in this world where, after millions of years of human achievement, some golden baby from space just gets to- outshine it all. And- and the reason you're better than that is because you are an accomplishment, you- the way you were treated because of it is wrong, but now you're here, and you're strong, and smart and there's a humanity in your eyes that the other ones don't have."

He can't bring himself to look at Kon.

"You're my son. Call it bias or- or whatever you want, but I think you're above them and you always will be."

Kara squints at the sight of it, not connecting it with the slow ache starting to spread through her chest.

“I promise you rocks do not have positive energy. Rose quartz is just pretty.”

Lex's eyes widen in sick delight, before he takes a tentative step closer.

"Rock people is a way to put it."

He picks up on the ignorance almost immediately. It's got him boyishly happy. He holds the stone a little closer to her, teeth bared in a grin.

She tilts her head slightly, leaning over to sniff it before recoiling at the way it burnt her nose.

A slow green vein starts to grow through her arms, spreading with a sickly paleness.

“That rock is disgusting! Where do you rock people find these?!?”

Kara bares her teeth, growling at the rock itself, as if trying to intimidate it.

Her breathing grows shallow, and her hand starts to shake as she reaches out to poke it with a morbid curiousity.

Lex has to hold back a laugh. He makes a face akin to having heartburn when Kara touches the damn thing. He shoves it closer, a manic glint in his eyes

"You Kryptonians are all the same. All of you! Can't resist the curiosity of something you know is wrong. This rock, our rock, the rock we as humans have always had! You know it's not yours, and yet!" Spittle flies from his mouth. "Your sorry definition of 'people' thinks this rock can belong to them as well!"

He throws the Kryptonite towards her without thinking.

"You have a rock! It's not our fault it kills you!"

“…Huh?”

Just the impact of the tiny shard was enough to push her over, the kryptonian being trained enough to know to catch herself. She sits up, with a confused expression.

“It-“

Her eyes move to the kryptonite, and she starts pushing herself away from it frantically.

“I do not know what you are discussing and you are being very confusing! You are a total jerk face!!”

She growls at him, lowering her head like a dog threatening to bite. She knew self defense. Even if she was not at her strength, she always had teeth.

Lex kicks the rock towards her.

"Run away, run away." He chuckles. He lifts his boot, crushing the shard beneath his heel and kicking the dust at Kara.

She looks up at him for a second, coughing in the dust. Kara leans back, before lunging quickly.

She locks her jaw around his leg, teeth already tearing through his suit.

The kryptonian says a muffled come back, completely incomprehensible with his leg in her mouth.

Lex yelps, kicking his leg out before twisting himself to the floor, a fist driving into her jaw.

"Get off of me, you- you vermin-"

”MMMMRGHMMRFGRGRRMMPH!”

A awesome response to any insult.

Once punched she lets go, leaving him with only a large hole in his suit leg and a scratch. Kara looks up at him again, this time with a victorious expression.

”You are STUPID and SMELL LIKE SPOILED MEAT!!”

She spits out her insult bravely, with a snide grin.

He snarls, spitting in her direction as he clutches his leg. In a moment of weakness, he can only think to press a dial on his phone. Call for help.

She suddenly tenses up, realizing that she.. cannot fly away just yet. Regardless! A true warrior will never back down!

“If you are updating your blog, please include the fact that you’re a stinky loser man!”

“HAH!”

He blanks out before releasing a slightly manic giggle.

"I should kill you. I should fucking kill you, but my son would kill me."

”I AM NOT ALLOWED TO USE THAT WORD…”

She’s more focused on the cussing part than the murder thought.

"What are you?" He laughs. Laughs, and laughs.

She stares back, tilting her head.

“I am a child of krypton??? Is this a mind game?? Are you sick??”

“Please say I did not give you space diseases… Kal el would kill me..”

He clutches his injured leg closer.

"You, your people, you're all disgusting."

"What the hell are you two doing!?" Kon moved to Lex, checking him over to see where he was hurt. Then he moved to just pick Lex up to he able to bring him home.

The dog he chose hasn't been cleared for adoption yet. The staff said that it has some behavioral issues that they are still working on, regarding biting and with a four year old around I don't wanna risk that... I also just said that he has to wait until the shelter clears the dog and that he could maybe go to the shelter and help with said training to get a feel for it until then...
