DABI AND PAIN

Headcanon what you want, have fun. I'm just gonna add my 2 cents. More so a nitpick and a pet peeve, but, y'know..

It always feels like people forget that Dabi is unable to feel pain. This is confirmed by the story. It's not a mental thing. Dabi faced severe nerve damage as a result of the burning from Sekoto Peak. His senses were dulled.

I'll often come across people who headcanon Dabi as a masochist and it always urks me because... He can't feel pain. How can you enjoy pain if you are unable to feel it? The pressure of it he would enjoy, maybe? That sounds more believable.

This is no hate to anyone who does have these headcanons. I just want to rant about my pet peeves and nitpick.

An alternative on the sadism-masochism spectrum that I'd prefer would be a sadist Dabi who enjoys inflicting pain on someone to fuel his own desires of imagining what it was like to be able to feel pain.

Random, but I think of a scene in season 1 of Titans; Rachel is eating dinner, and Robotman (Clifford Steele), whose brain was transplanted in a robotic body, urges Rachel to describe the taste of what she's eating so he can enjoy the imagery of what it was like to be able to taste. Although he can't.

I could imagine it being like that with Dabi in a way if I were to portray him as close to a masochist as I could.

This is just a me thing. I know I'm probably being too serious, but again, it's just a me thing.
