This is my tomodachi life sollux. So far he has

-Made karkat lose feelings for him by talking about anime (He then proceeded to fall in love with karkat right after this)

-Kept fighting with aradia over random bullshit

-Confessed to karkat, got rejected

-Tried again two hours later, rejected again

-Decided he would confess AGAIN right after and karkat sent someone else to reject him in his place

-Got really sad so I sent aradia to confort him

-FELL IN LOVE WITH ARADIA RIGHT THERE

-karkat picked something up for him and he fell for him AGAIN

-then he fell for aradia ONCE AGAIN and is “ready to risk it all” what the hell, sure

I have no idea what to do with him I just cry whenever I see a cutscene trigger

So.. homestuck pilot, am I right?

I think glitch/the indie animation scene has caused people to believe a pilot is equivalent to a first episode, and while they can end up looking similar a lot of stuff still chages, or it can be a completely different thing. It’s just a proof of concept and, if this was being pitched to a big studio, it wouldn’t be shown to the public. With this in mind, do I think it’s a good pilot? Yes.

I liked how pesterlogs were represented, the inventory system and the character voices sound great, and while I think the dad strife scene was too over the top it’s cool to imagine how the other strife scenes could look now that we know what they can do. I want to make it clear I did enjoy it and would love to see what the team is capable of doing with a full series.

However I do have a couple things I hope will change if this does get picked up:

-episode length, 11 minutes is wayyy too short, you don’t get any time to breathe or process what you’re seeing. They did say they’d have longer episodes in the Q&A so I’m not too worried about this.

-tone, yes homestuck is silly but it has moments that are a lot more serious, the ‘you have a feeling it’s going to be a long day’ scene specially would’ve benefited from having a more melancholic vibe

-Dave, I loved him very much and I’m glad they’re letting him be an annoying yapper but for the sake of his character arc the stoic cool guy façade and bottling of emotions should be more noticeable

-mostly a nitpick but either ditch the modern slang or change the setting to be more modern

-last but not least try to make it more accessible for people who don’t know about homestuck. Right now it’s very confusing for anyone that hasn’t already read the comic

I think Skye said in the interview that if this does work out they will rework the episode entirely which would be great! Overall I am very hopeful about the series and reallyyyy want it to succeed

People on Twitter are being so negative about the pilot. Yeah yeah it’s Viv’s studio and she sucks but as far as I can tell she basically wont be involved at all so who cares.

Don’t get me started of people shitting on the art direction. Does rose look kinda chopped? Yes. Do they need to put down the airbrush? Probably. But everyone’s talking about it like it’s utter garbage just because it’s not a 1:1 replica of the comic’s designs. (Also it’s a pilot, if it does get picked up there’ll be reworks)

I’m just tired of the constant cycle of negativity these past couple days, the announcement did feel like 15 9/11s but the whole idea of it has been growing on me and seeing all the animators being so hyped about it made me start looking forward to it. Of course I have my worries but I’m mostly excited to see how they’re going to adapt something as tied to its medium as homestuck
