One moment, you feel like you’re getting your soul pulled from you in one of the most painful experiences of your life.
Forced to watch as your partner and his family go through the same fate.
Their sister sliced open their father’s head, revealing him to be a green blooded alien robot, as you all were released from the source draining your powers from you
You remember looking over at Five as you fell to the floor.
He was your partner at the commission who you banded off with to stop the apocalypse. He had a makeshift tourniquet around his severed arm, the two of you withering in pain against the cold tile as you tried regaining your breath.
The two of you had gone through so much together. Far too many apocalypses for two elderly teens to handle in less than a month. You were both so stressed, being pushed and pulled around by the universe with endless complications. It seemed like every single day since you first returned to 2019, something had always managed to go wrong.
Yet, you always had Five, and he had you.
You kept each other sane.
You were exactly what the other needed.
Nobody really understood what you two were, but you definitely weren’t just coworkers.
There were so many instances where the two of you had gotten drunk, and either cried in each other's arms or passionately made out.
Whatever could distract the two of you from the unstoppable fear of failure.
That fear of not being able to save the world, save his family, save each other. It ate you alive.
It was almost as if you were the same person, with the same mind, you could understand each other so well, yet that didn’t mean you could read each other’s mind.
It was hard to tell whether your intimate moments together had any correlation to how he truly felt about you. You knew he loved you, as much as he loved his family. He was such a caring, selfless man. It always hurt to watch when his family overlooked how much he sacrificed for them, how they constantly blamed him. You made sure he never felt overlooked when he was with you.
His blue-grey skin horrified you. The wrinkles in his face, showing how close he was from death in that moment, utterly horrified you. His eyes, so much darker than his light green irises, full of suffering, was a sight you never wanted to see again.
Everyone pleaded with Allison as her hand hovered over the glowing button.
Once she hit it, everything went black.
~~~
The next moment, you realized you were standing.
You felt different.
Cleansed, almost.
You heard a ding and opened your eyes, realizing you were standing in a crowded elevator. It somehow opened up into a memorial park. The night was rainy, and you could hear the city sounds so clearly through the open air.
As everyone walked over and explored their surroundings, you scanned Five.
No more discolored skin, no more wrinkles, perfect eyes, and . . . his arm?
Before you could mention it to him, you heard Viktor break the silence first.
“Luther?” he said.
Everyone turned their attention to the elevator, as the now skinner Luther made his way out.
“You can see me?” he said excitedly as Viktor jumped into his arms for a strong hug, “I’m alive!”
“That’s not all, big guy,” Viktor referenced Luther’s new figure.
At this point, Five had realized his arm had returned, giving you a small wave with it.
You laughed with a smile before tugging him into a hug, so relieved you made it out alive once more. He wrapped both his arms around you as he dug his face into the crook of your neck.
“I’m so glad you’re okay,” you heard him grumble into your hair.
Before you could respond, Five was snatched from your grasp by Luther, frantically asking about his wife. Five reminded him about the universe being reset, which apparently wasn’t a good answer.
“Okay, screw this,” said Five before attempting to blink, yet he went nowhere.
Immediately looking panicked, he said, “Something’s wrong.”
Luther threatened him once more as everyone tested their powers.
Luther eventually ran off to find Sloane, with Klaus right on his tail.
“Peace out, bitches,” was the last you heard from Ben before he took off.
“What are we supposed to do?” Diego asked now that everyone was breaking off in their own direction.
You glanced over at Five to find him already looking at you. His eyes communicated with you in a language intelligible to anyone else in the world. When he held his hand out, you took it firmly.
“Live our lives?” Lila asked, unsure.
Once her and Diego walked off hand in hand, Five gave one last look to Viktor before he squeezed your hand and walked towards the archway, leading onto the sidewalk.
The two of you didn’t say anything at first. You could feel the rain land gently on your face, in your hair, on your sweater. It was the perfect, cool night in the city. The air was clean.
You could take a deep breath without feeling the weight of the world crushing your lungs.
There were zero expectations. No time travel laws you had to follow. No people you were assigned to kill. No countdown till doomsday.
You were free.
With Five’s hand in your, you quickened your pace and started running down the sidewalk. It took him by surprise but he followed your lead, letting you drag him down the block, without a care in the world.
The two of you felt free.
It was about time..
You stopped suddenly. Wet hair framed your glowing face as you panted, trying to catch your breath. He did the same, as he waited patiently for you to speak your mind. He brushed raindrops off your face, admiring your furrowed brow, showing you were deep in thought.
“Wait a minute,” you had realized something.
“If the universe is reset, where do we go? What do we do? I mean, there’s no academy anymore. There’s no record of us anywhere. How do we get a job if we don’t exist yet? How do we find somewhere to live if we don’t exist yet? We don’t have any money so we can’t afford a hotel room, we’re going to have to sleep on a bench tonight and it’s fucking rainin-”
He cut you off with a hand on your cheek and a swift kiss to the lips.
That definitely shut you up, but he spoke before you could even register what happened.
“We’ll figure it out,” he smiled at you, still holding your face, caressing your cheek with his palm.
“I don’t care where we go or what we do. But whatever happens, I want you by my side.”
You had never seen Five like this. So worry free, so genuine. He looked as though so much weight had been lifted off of his shoulders. You knew because you felt just the same.
Without a word, you kissed him once more, confirming your enthusiasm to live your new life with him.
You never would’ve thought settling down would be in your cards, but here you were, kissing your partner, Five Hargreevess, in the pouring rain.
As you pulled away, you laughed and asked, “Are you ready for this new adventure, Five?”
Of course you’d go anywhere with him, you’d even sleep on a park bench if it meant you would be safe in his arms. This didn’t mean you’d be too thrilled to be sleeping in the rain. He smiled wide, his dimples prominent, and took your hand in his once again.
6:00 AM: The alarm clock blared, rousing Five Hargreeves from his sleep. He groaned, reaching over to silence it. Beside him, Y/n stirred, blinking awake.
"Morning already?" Y/n mumbled, her voice thick with sleep.
"Unfortunately," Five said with a sigh. He rolled out of bed, rubbing his eyes. "Let’s get this day started."
Y/n stretched and followed him, the couple moving like a well-practiced team. Today was a Monday, and they had a busy schedule ahead.
6:30 AM: The kitchen was a scene of organized chaos. Maddie, their six-year-old daughter, was at the table with her morning cereal, giggling as she made her spoon float in the air.
"Maddie, remember what we said about using your powers at the table," Five said, pouring coffee into two mugs.
"I know, Daddy," Maddie said, reluctantly lowering her spoon.
"Where’s Milo?" Y/n asked, glancing around.
"I’ve got him," Five replied, lifting their two-year-old son from his high chair. Milo babbled happily, smearing oatmeal on his face with a chubby hand.
"Oatmeal artist in the making," Y/n said, smiling as she wiped Milo’s face. "What do you have planned for today, Five?"
"Meetings at the CIA office," Five said, making a face. "But I'll try to be home early."
"Good luck," Y/n said, giving him a sympathetic look. "I’ve got a busy day at the bookstore too."
7:30 AM: Five was dressed in his usual sharp attire, adjusting his tie in the hallway mirror. Maddie was in her school uniform, her backpack already slung over one shoulder.
"Ready for school, superstar?" Five asked, smiling at Maddie.
"Yep! We’re learning about space today!" Maddie said excitedly.
"A future astronaut," Y/n said proudly, planting a kiss on Maddie’s head.
"Where’s my kiss?" Five teased, leaning towards Maddie.
"Here you go, Daddy!" Maddie said, giving him a peck on the cheek. "And don’t forget to pick me up after school!"
"Wouldn’t dream of it," Five said.
Y/n handed Milo to Five and pulled Maddie into a hug. "Be good at school and remember to only use your powers in an emergency."
"I will, Mommy," Maddie promised.
8:00 AM: The family loaded into the car, Five driving with Maddie in the back and Milo in his car seat.
"Time to drop Maddie off at school and then Milo at daycare," Five said, checking his watch.
"And then us to work," Y/n added, tapping her fingers on the dashboard.
"Can we listen to the space song?" Maddie asked, bouncing in her seat.
"Of course," Y/n said, turning on the radio to Maddie’s favorite song about space exploration. Maddie sang along happily, her enthusiasm infectious.
9:00 AM: Five dropped Maddie off at her elementary school. "See you later, alligator," he said, waving as she skipped into the building.
"After a while, crocodile!" Maddie called back, laughing.
Next stop was Milo’s daycare. "Be good, little man," Five said, handing Milo over to the caregiver.
"Daddy will be back soon," Five said, waving goodbye to Milo.
10:00 AM: Five and Y/n arrived at their respective workplaces. Five at the CIA office, a day full of meetings ahead, and Y/n at her cozy bookstore around the corner, where she was greeted by the comforting smell of books and coffee.
12:00 PM: At the CIA office, Five sat through another tedious meeting. His mind wandered to his family, and he found himself doodling a picture of Y/n, Maddie, and Milo in the margins of his notes.
"Five, are you paying attention?" his boss asked.
"Of course," Five replied smoothly, hiding his drawing. "We’re discussing the activities of the cult right?"
1:00 PM: Lunchtime at the bookstore was a welcome break for Y/n. She munched on her sandwich, glancing through the children’s section to find a new book for Maddie. A colorful story about a magical forest caught her eye.
"Perfect," she murmured, adding it to her pile. "Maddie will love this."
3:00 PM: Five wrapped up his meetings and made his way back to the school to pick up Maddie. She ran to him with her usual exuberance.
"Daddy! I drew a picture of a rocket ship!" Maddie said, waving her drawing.
"Looks amazing!" Five said, admiring her artwork. "Let’s go get Milo and head home."
4:00 PM: At the daycare, Milo was ready to go, reaching out to Five with a big smile. "Da-da!" he babbled.
"Hi, buddy," Five said, lifting him into his arms. "Let’s go home."
5:00 PM: Back at home, Y/n arrived shortly after them. The family reunited in the living room, surrounded by the comfortable chaos of toys and laughter.
"Dinner time!" Y/n announced, heading to the kitchen.
Five played with the kids in the living room, Milo attempting to stack blocks while Maddie floated a toy spaceship above their heads.
"Mission control to astronaut Maddie, come in," Five said, holding up a toy walkie-talkie.
"Astronaut Maddie here," Maddie replied, giggling. "We’re ready for lift-off!"
6:30 PM: Dinner was a lively affair. Maddie chattered about her day at school, while Milo attempted to feed himself, making more of a mess than anything.
"You’re wearing more spaghetti than you’re eating," Five said, laughing as he wiped Milo’s face.
"Maddie, tell your mom about your space project," Five prompted, serving another helping of spaghetti.
"I made a model of the solar system!" Maddie said proudly. "It’s got all the planets and even an asteroid belt."
"I can’t wait to see it," Y/n said, beaming at her.
8:00 PM: Bedtime routines began. Y/n read Maddie another chapter from her new book, while Five rocked Milo to sleep, humming softly.
"Night, Mommy" Maddie said, snuggling into her bed.
Five placed Milo in his crib, turning on the nightlight shaped like a moon. "Sleep tight, little man," he whispered.
9:00 PM: The house quieted down. Five and Y/n settled on the couch, sharing a bowl of popcorn and watching a movie. They leaned into each other, enjoying the rare peaceful moment.
"Today was a good day," Y/n said, her head on Five’s shoulder.
"Every day with you and the kids is a good day," Five replied, kissing the top of her head.
"Even Mondays?" Y/n teased.
"Especially Mondays," Five said, squeezing her hand.
You had Five had always been far too professional for your own good.
The two of you first met when the Handler brought you both out of the apocalypse and shoved you into neatly steamed suits to begin your brand new lives at the Commission.
You and Five were the only two people left alive after the world had combusted in 2019, yet neither of you had managed to bump into the other while you wandered around for forty five years.
Initially, there wasn't any trust between the two of you, as well as curiosity trapped in private thought bubbles. Both of you wondered what the other’s experience was like.
Did they find it nice to have the world to themself?
Did they have an easier time?
Did they miss anybody?
When the Handler officially made you two partners and sent the two of you off on your very first assignment together, it was definitely awkward. So many questions, so little bravery to make them heard.
You wanted to ask him. You wanted to be friendly. Of course, the apocalypse life took a toll on you, so maybe you could bond over your unfortunately mutual experience.
But he looked so stern, so reclusive, so unwelcoming.
He thought the same about you, with your shoulders turned in and furrowed brow. He thought you just preferred to be private. He assumed if you spoke about your past you would freeze or shut down. He didn’t wish that upon you.
During that assignment, the two of you had to wait in a parking lot for your target to arrive. The mark would be dropped off in a rideshare vehicle up to an office building. Neither of you knew what rideshare was but didn’t think it really mattered.
As you waited in a rental provided by the commission, you didn’t have the radio to fill in the silence, you just sat and stared.
Until you finally decided, what would be so bad?
“Hi,” you turned and looked at him, giving him a wrinkly smile.
“Hello?” he responded out of confusion.
The two of you had indeed talked before, but only once, at your initial introduction, only shaking hands and exchanging names,
“How are you,” you tried to further the conversation with friendliness before he decided it was worthless and ignored you.
“I’m quite alright,” he nodded, still not smiling but he turned toward you more, seemingly interested in conversing.
A good sign.
“And you?”
Your smile grew a bit wider, “I’m doing just fine.”
This kind of conversation might be more commonly heard in a classic American diner, by two old friends in their elderly years, about to order their early bird special. But on this rare occasion, it was being said by two elderly assassins, at the start of the most valuable partnership in all of time.
~~~
For years, the commission has waited for a team like this.
After the two of you returned from your debut assignment, nearly missing your mark as you were so thoroughly invested about discussing your shared accounts with twinkies and their expiration debacle, the two of you immediately requested another task, which the Handler was thrilled to hear.
Once that task was completed, you received another, and another, until you and Five were so caught up in each other's lives you were almost the same person.
For once, the two of you found someone who could truly understand you. You always felt supported and valued in each other's company.
Somedays, when the work got hard, the two of you would take a well deserved day or two off from work, learning about each other's interests and aspirations, refilling your coffee mugs as you talked your day away.
Eventually, the two of you had come up with a plan to try and save the world. What was the point in having time travel powers and only using them once?
Of course, the two of you were scared, but with the support from each other and years of experience and preparation, you had faith in yourselves.
So you took on that last assignment to Dallas, Texas, where you would confirm John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Five’s journal was filled to the brim with math equations, one of which was believed to be the correct one to bring you back to his family in 2019, giving you enough time to stop the apocalypse.
The two of you mustered up as much of your energy as you could and combined it into a glowing blue portal, where you could see a group of people standing in a courtyard.
As you and Five pushed through, you could feel everything change, your clothes felt looser as you fell to the ground.
Sitting up gave your head a spin, but once your eyes focused, they landed on a boy. This boy had dark, messy hair, with the same green eyes as your beloved partner.
“We did it!” you were so overjoyed and proud of yourselves that you tossed your arms around him and encapsulated him in a strong hug.
He returned the hug with just as much joy, never feeling so gratified by someone’s actions.
Even though the two of you had never hugged before, it felt so right.
“Does anyone else see little Number Five or is that just me?”
The voice snapped the two of you out of your moment as you both turned your heads to the group of adults, staring at the two teens huddled together in the mud.
You both looked back at each other, then down at the close distance between you, and muttered apologies as you both let go with a flush. He quickly stood up, lent a hand to assist you, and the two of you headed inside with a couple feet between you.
~~~
You didn’t talk much to his family when you were downstairs, you mostly just watched Five as he explained with little patience everything he decided his family needed to know at the moment. He did gain some valuable information, the date was March 24th, 2019, giving you eight days to figure out a way to save the world.
You were currently standing in the middle of his room, not entirely sure what to do. You didn’t want to touch or disturb anything, you knew how he likes his things a certain way, so you just stood there and waited for him to return.
He suddenly blinked back, trying to keep the skirt, sweater vest, blazer, tie, socks, and shoes all from falling out of his arms.
“The only clothes we have here that’ll fit us right now is the uniform,” he said as lied each item neatly on his bed for you.
“They’re my sister’s but I’m sure she won’t mind you borrowing them,” he turned to face you.
You had only seen what his younger self looked like in his file at the Commission. Initially, you hadn’t seen the resemblance between the bright, sophomoric, superpowered child and the tired, sarcastic, coffee-powered old man. But now, it’s almost as though you can see Five’s past through his eyes. That old grump you know and love hides behind those green irises.
Wait love?
You were snapped out of your daze when you realized his eyes were staring right back in yours.
“I’ll let you change in here, I’ll be just across the hall. We can meet in the hallway when we're done,” he said, cheeks a little pink and avoided eye contact.
You nodded and he blinked out of the room, but before you started changing, you looked around, taking in the atmosphere. You had learned a lot about his life here in the academy, but being here felt a little unreal. His storytelling made you feel like you were there in his memories, it was nice to now see what his life was like.
When you finished getting dressed, you quietly stepped into the hallway.
Unaware of your presence, you watched as Five conversed with one of his siblings.
“So who was that? Your little girlfriend?”
“No, she’s my partner,” Five scowled, his back away from you.
“Oh, like your life partner! You’re married! Yay! Ring the church bells!” his sibling said excitedly, waving his hands in the air.
Five face palmed and turned to you, wide eyed and fully red in the face at this point.
“You must be Klaus,” you awkwardly started, not really sure how to enter the conversation.
“Yes ma’am, welcome to the family,” he smirked as tugged you in for a big bear hug before releasing you and strutting off without another word.
Of course the two of you had dealt with romantic implications before, but back then you two were mature adults and could handle it professionally. Now, you were prepubescent teens who turned pink at the mere thought of someone they liked.
But two of you stood there, silently watching in his direction until he turned the corner.
~~~
It had been well over 24 hours since you had gotten any sleep.
Since you landed in 2019, you have met your partner’s entire family, gotten coffee, been shot at, tracked down the nonexistent owner of an eyeball, found Five’s old apocalypse friend, and got shot at even more. Only during the second shootout did you actually get injured.
Now, you were both dragging yourselves up the stairs of the academy to his bedroom. Him carrying Delores the mannequin, a kind, sophisticated woman, under his arm with the other around you to keep you steady. He himself was far too tired to blink, though he tried so hard to muster up enough energy every time he heard you wince.
You were exhausted to say the least. Blood seeped through your fingertips as you held your hand against the graze the bullet left in your shoulder.
Once you made it to Five’s room, he quickly set Delores down on the floor as he led you to sit on his bed. As soon as he blinked away, you fell back from your upright position and closed your eyes, unable to bear another minute awake.
When he returned, you could hear him run over to the bed and lean over you, grasping your face in his warm hands.
“No, no, no, no, no,” he pleaded, “Stay awake for me, please.”
You had lost a good amount of blood from the deep graze, but you knew you wouldn’t die. You just really needed some rest ever since Five decided it was better to keep moving than take on Vanya’s offer to stay the night.
Once your dazed eyes opened and met his, he let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding, unconsciously brushing his thumb against your cheek, before quickly moving back to the first aid kit he had grabbed and sorting through its contents, gathering all the materials he needed for your wound.
He helped you sit back up so he could work. This wasn’t the first time one of you had to stitch up the other. In fact, it happened quite frequently as assassins.
But it never felt like this.
Usually you’d be making casual conversation, comfortable with the normality of the situation, and not thinking twice about it. This time however, neither of you spoke. He was focused on stitching you up as gently as possible, though he would catch you staring at him and watch as you looked away awkwardly.
He smiled slightly as he worked. He had grown to care so much about you, but he was always worried he’d ruin what he had with you. Overtime, he had become so used to you being the only constant in his life. The only one he could trust to share things with. Overall, he enjoyed how he could be so comfortable around you, he never needed a guard up when he was with you, but he never knew if you felt the same. But something about now made him feel like he might’ve been onto something.
“Hi,” he said quietly, breaking the silence.
You looked up at him, only to see him finishing up your stitches with a knowing smile.
“Hello,” you responded.
“You okay?”
“I’m better now,” you said, watching him as he carefully cut the string to your stitches.
He carefully traced his finger over his work.
“Tired?” He asked, already knowing the answer.
“Yeah,” you yawned a bit, giving him a droopy smile.
“Well, let’s get you to bed then,” he said as took off your shoes for you and placed them by the foot of his bed.
After he helped you climb under the comforter, you waited for him to get ready to lay next to you but instead he stayed standing, with his hands tucked into his pockets.
“You can have my bed. I’ll just be across the hall,” he said, almost unsure as he made his way towards the door.
“Wait.”
He turned around expectantly, but you weren’t even sure what you wanted to say.
Would it be weird if you asked him to stay?
“I mean, it’s your bed. I- I can’t just take it-”
“No, no, it’s okay-” Five started.
“We could just, I don’t know, share it?”
No one moved. Eyes wide. Had you gone too far?
On assignments, you always had two beds when you were scheduled somewhere for more than one night. That’s just how it always was. The only time you ever came close to sleeping next to each other was when you had to spend the night in the back of a van, but that was a whole different story.
You didn’t mean to insinuate anything, you just meant that you wouldn’t mind sleeping next to him. You felt safe with him and it would’ve comforted you to know he was with you.
Five understood just how you felt, and climbed in right beside you without another word.
Sharing a twin sized bed meant the two of you were very close with not much room to roll over without risk of plummeting off the side, which you almost did when you tried scooting over to give him more room to get comfortable.
The other thing you could grab onto to save yourself from falling onto your back was him, as he also grabbed you to save you from falling.
The momentum pulled you snug into his chest, which made the two of you nervously giggle before you realize just how much you missed being so close to someone.
You felt it initially yesterday when you first hugged him. But now, the warm touch of another human was all you wanted to know. Subconsciously, you buried your head in his chest as he nestled his above your head. He hadn’t felt this safe in so many years.
You whispered goodnight right before you drifted away to sleep, your breathing regulating to a pace, letting him feel your chest rise and fall against his.
He kissed the top of your head, whispering goodnight into your hair, waiting a moment to test your slumber, before he whispered once more.
Can you do a Five Hargreeves x reader? Like the reader acts like Willy Wonka (Timotheé Chalamet/ Johnny Depp version).
Reader randomly sings a song while fighting as a strategy to distract anyone. Making sweets for the family and coffee themed for Five. His creativity in sweets gets handy with weapons (also candy themed)
Of course! sorry this took me a while but i have a life outside of writing and life has been kicking my ass into the next year. Here you go dear reader ❤️
My Candy Girl
y/n was crazy to say the least. Five had never met a woman quite like her. She was his eccentric candy girl. Sweet as sugar but as odd as odd gets. He still remembers way back when he first met her.
It was a hot june day. The sun boiling outside. It was ridiculous. You could cook an egg on the sidewalk if you so desired. Five was in the academy working on some equations in a book to pass time. He didn’t exactly have anything to do at the moment so he was making himself feel like he had something to do.
Silence was disturbed when klaus came into academy living room where he just so happened to be. “Hello my loveable and definitely not grumpy brother” Five let out a huff and looked up only to be met with not only klaus with his obnoxious habits but also a little friend next to klaus. You. God were you pretty. It made his cheeks heat a little at the sight of you but he pushed it away afterall you guys only just saw each other.
You stood there with a lollipop between your lips and your curious eyes looking around the new environment. “Man klaus, you didn’t tell you were a trust fund baby.” she chuckled.
Klaus looked to you “Well my spicy little friend i dont think it matters” Klaus pinched your cheeks quit like how a grandma would. Five however was locked onto her he wouldnt admit it (atleast not right now) but you have him hooked already.
From that day on whenever you are around he made sure to look his best. He was always in his suit and put on his good aftershave and his best cologne. He was a super genius but around you his IQ was slashed to 62 just like that.
He began to notice how odd you were, not like that put him off though. You were always looking around your environment, spaced off into la la land. You’d say some of the most random things at random times. His favorite being that time you called diego dollar general batman.
Now it wasn’t just a cute name he gave you, candy girl, but it was there for a reason. You were a candy maker. You absolutely adored candy. Thee five hargreeves in love with a candy maker? A former temporal assassin? who woulda saw that coming? Infact candy was what really brought you and him closer together.
~Flashback~
You were in the kitchen of the academy. You currently dusting a flat pan full of small light brown squares with powdered sugar. That was until five came in
Five looked at you leaning against the counter. He curiously looked between her and the pan of squares. You were so focused you didn’t even notice him until he broke the silence “What are you making?”
you looked up at him. Your eyes wild from concentration and glee of making items. “Im making candy!”
he chuckled and rolled his eyes playfully “Well no shit but what kind of candy is it?”
You smiled and continued dusting the powdered sugar onto the tan treats. “These are coffee chews”
His heart almost leaped out his chest. did he hear correctly? “Did…did you say coffee chews?”
you looked up at him and nodded “Yep. Coffee chews. They’re for you.” You made them for him with him in mind. You noticed he likes coffee a lot and never seems to get a decent cup of it. So why not make him a decent coffee candy?
He was a little flustered though he didn’t wanna show it but his eyes gave him away. He looked away trying to hide himself behind a couple walls though a small bashful smile graced his lips.
His walls could not be put up or the damn gates to be closed cause in a second you gently but excitedly and quickly grabbed his jaw turning him back to you. You had picked up one of the sugary treats and put it in his hand. “Try it.”
his eyes widened his shock paralyzing him. Was he a little turned on? …maybe. Either way he did as you said and popped the treat into his mouth. He found that it was soft and sweet but it had a noticeably nice coffee flavor. huh…a decent cup of coffee for once. He noticed you didnt let go obviously hoping for an answer “Its good. Really good actually.”
Your cheeks warmed up into a blush and you smiled happily. grateful that the candy wasnt a flop. “Good!” she let go and went to the pan picked up the treats putting them in a blue metal tin in there own little filter and shut the lid she handed it to him “Here you are! A whole tin of them!”
he blushed hard he couldn’t put his walls up in time to stop it. “For me? They’re all for me?”
you nodded “Yes there for you! Didnt i say i made them for you?”
he gently took the tin “You did but i didnt think all of them were for me” he looked at the blue tin and back to you with practically adoring eyes.
“Well they are!”
five was smitten as he chewed and swallowed the rest of the coffee chew. This was probably what sealed the deal. He had to have you, right away.
<Flashback end>
It wasn’t just him that you made candy for. You made the whole family candy too. All of them had gotten that signature blue tin with whatever little treat she made inside for them all nicely put inside a white thin filter paper.
The family began to notice fives behavior whenever you were brought up or in the vicinity. They noticed that when you were brought up suddenly he was very interested in whatever conversation was happening and whenever you were in the room or the vicinity he was quickly straightening up and fixing his suit cuffs and jacket.
It was odd for them to see there brother all totally whipped for you but it was also quiet amusing for them, not so much him though.
One day five was sat on the couch reading some books he found to pass the time. The rest of the family was talking about god knows what when you where brought up
Luther smiled as he took one of the candies from the blue tin he received “Hey guys what candies did you receive anyway? I got this blue raspberry thing. I think y/n called them raspberry color bombs”
Diego looked at him confused as he played with one of his knives twirling it and doing his usual tricks “Raspberry color bomb? the hell kind of name is that?”
Luther was excited to show diego “Okay watch! watch!” Lither popped one of the hard candies into his mouth letting it dissolve when he then opened his mouth a few seconds later to show his entire mouth was blue. It wasn’t just the normal tongue being blue no, no it was EVERYTHING. Everything from his gums, to his teeth. It was bright blue raspberry.
diego went wide eyed “Woah you look like you ate a bucket of paint” he laughed at his own joke although it was light hearted fun
klaus chimed in. He was laid across the sofa with his feet kicking in the air gently “You look like how i imagine oral with an alien is like”
luther cringed at that along with the rest of the family.
“Ew, gross klaus.” allison chimed in her face twisted in mild disgust and a face of why…just why.
klaus tsk’d “Oh come on you cant tell me you guys dont think of it”
Ben spoke up “No i think thats just you klaus. You are the only one who has probably thought of blowing an alien”
Five was silent the whole time but he was zeroed in on the conversation waiting for it to change back to the topic he really wanted to hear about. He of course didnt escape viktors eyes.
“You have any input on this five?” viktor asked looking over at him
diego spoke up “Yeah, cupid, you got anything on your mind or is it filled with something else”
klaus looked over “Or someone else?” he said pointing around at everyone as if to say dont forget it could be a someone.
five was stupified for a minute. he was like a fish out of water just learning what the hell air was. “There is nothing on my mind! There is no one on my mind either”
Klaus pffted and looked over at five tilting his head back to look at him “Oh please ewe all see the goo goo eyes you give her!”
“Yeah your not exactly subtle about it” Allison chimed in
five quickly answered trying to cover his ass “Who could i POSSIBLY be thinking about? I have better things to do than daydream about some pe—“
he was cut right the hell off by viktor “Y/n L/n”
fives face went right into a hot blush. Damn them all.
diego began to laugh, luther was confused, allison was amused along with viktor, ben could care less, and klaus was acting like he won the lottery.
“Oooo i knew it! no wonder you start putting on the ritz when she is around. Mr big bad assassin is inlove~” klaus said triumphantly ans teasingly
At that point five wanted another apocalypse to happen and swallow him whole to leave this embarrassing conversation. How was this girl he knew making him a hot mess and breaking every wall he has tried to put up!?
It’s been some months since he and his family have known you (excluding klaus cause he has known you longer) He keeps falling head over heels for you. A blushing fool is what he becomes.
One day on the news everybody hears of this house that has burnt to the ground. A few people where gathered watching it including five.
Diego turned to the kitchen where klaus was “Hey you might wanna come take a look at this. Theres this hellish fire on tv”
klaus sighed and came over with a empty glass that he was gonna pour something into “Oh goodie let me see whats the next ghost im gonna have to be forced to listen to” klaus stopped when he saw the house “Wait that looks familiar
luther looks to klaus who actually seems to be concentrating on the tv “Klaus…did you know who lives there?”
klaus took a minute until he gasped “Oh…oh no…”
diego couldnt take the silence after “what?! what?! Klaus did you know who lived there?”
klaus turned to them “Thats y/ns house!”
Fives world screeched to the finest fucking halts. Y/ns house? hold on as in y/n l/n’s house? The one that had his heart melting all the time?
The family was shocked. What the actual fuck?
that night fives world fucking crashed. How could it be normal? The girl he loved died in a fire! life was a heartless bitch. He spent the day drinking trying to numb the pain as his heart clenched. his heart fucked and his suit even more fucked.
The rest of the day the family tried to get klaus to contact you but he couldnt do it! the family accused him of being high but klaus swore up and down that he hadnt touched a thing. Diego was trying to play hero again claiming that you were probably murdered and practically had to be restrained. He was only convinced when they said wait atleast until evidence of foul play is found.
Later that night they all had to go to bed eventually. Though at some point during the night everyone heard a noise in the kitchen. They all inevitably went down there to check it out. When they got there they all flipped on the lights ready to attack but who they found was…you?
wait…YOU?!
Diego pushed to the front bewildered “Wait a minute your supposed to be dead?!”
luther was so confused “Yeah we saw your house on fire on the news. How are you still here?”
klaus chimed in “It told you gusy i wasnt high at the time! I told you i couldnt reach them!”
you looked at them confused. You were casually sat on the island counter eating a fluffernutter sandwich. “Im supposed to be dead?”
five sloppily teleported to the kitchen. By now he had sobered up but was left with a big fuck ass headache “What the hell are you idiots going on abou—“ he paused upon seeing you suddenly everything else didnt matter. He saw you and his heart beat so fast. Holy shit your alive.
your eyes locked with his and you smiled and waved “Hey five! Guess what these guys thought i was dead!”
he didnt say anything he just came to you and pulled you into the biggest hug he has ever actually gave someone. His family was right there be damned cause he needed you to anchor him. “I thought you died”
you were shocked when he pulled you to him but you softened “Its gonna take a lot more than that to kill me”
Klaus chimed in “Actually my fine furry friend i think that would’ve actually killed you. Its the fiery flames of doom so…”
five sighed and looked up glaring at klaus before letting go of you snd stepping back feeling flustered.
Viktor butted i. “Wait wait wait i dont mean to ruin everyone’s celebration that they’re actually alive but how exactly did your house burn down?”
you looked to viktor “Oh i was boiling up sugar to make candy when i remember i left my new food dye i just bought on the kitchen table so i went to grab that and i guess i left the oven mitt to close cause next thing i knew my oven mitt was on fire along with my pot of sugar. i tried putting it out but it just didnt work and eventually more was on fire and after that i dont really know”
diego was listening in carefully “I dont like this something isnt right about this.”
you shrugged and sat back up on the counter and began eating her sandwich again.
Over the next few days five spent his time with you. He was so relieved you were alive. He stayed with you at all times.
He even stayed for your candy making adventures, most of the time spectating. He did occasionally help with small tasks like getting food dye or ingredients. He quite enjoyed watching as you made candy. He got to watch as someones skills progressed as time went on. It was fascinating.
Today you had been working on an important project. Made from candy and other items. It was a lolli dagger. A beautiful dagger made from lollipop candy. its dagger blade made entirely of pink hard candy with a wood handle to help get a grip.
five was amazed by it. “Wow. You did it”
you were amazed as you held it flipping it to be held facing down and facing up. “I did…its beautiful and perfect”
five watched with a small smile “May i try it?”
you looked to him and nodded “Here.” you handed it over into his hand.
He held it in his hand “Wow this is lightweight as well. Will the candy hold up?”
you nodded eagerly “Of course! its meant to hold up for a long time! i- oh!” you got nicked by the blade. Your finger was bleeding. Fives eyes widened “Oh my god im so sorry. I did not mean to do that”
you shook your head “i-its alright you didnt mean too. I think it was me that brought my hand to close!”
He shook his head and gently led you to sit down at the table to fix your cut. He cleaned it and bandaged it. Your eyes were looking up at him. His eyes eventually found yours and soon you were both aware of how close you were to eachother. Lips so close your breathes mixed.
[Meanwhile]
Diego wouldnt let go of that feeling that something wasnt right with the fire. He had went to your burnt house to scrounge around for clues.
He had come upon what was the area of the kitchen. He could tell by the dishes glassware everywhere that this was the kitchen area. He looked around. There was a almost perfectly intact wall that seemed to not touch much of any fire. On that wall was a window. It had a hole in the glass that looked like something was thrown through more than pressure from the heat of fire were to break it. It was like someone threw something through it.
He knew it.
[Away from meanwhile]
Five leaned into you “Did you know that i love you? I cant hold it in anymore. I have to tell you”
you smiled “No…i dont pay attention enough to notice sometimes.”
five chuckled as he leaned in closer “Do you love me too?”
you nodded and closed your eyes leaning in closer. You and his lips were so close to touching when suddenly through the window a flaming bottle was thrown startling you too away from eachother.
Before you could react the bottle had shattered and spread fire. Five grabbed you pulling you away from the flames. “What the fuck!?”
outside the window was a hooded figure. the hooded figure was gonna make a run for it when five took you and blinked to where the guy was tackling him. This caused a struggle. The hooded figure struggled rolling on the ground with him trying to choke eachother out until they got on there feet and started properly fighting. Fists and kicks being delivered.
At some point the figure got five pinned to the ground. You had no clue what to do! you were a candy maker for christs sake not a fighter! So you did what the first thing came to mind.
…
you began to sing to distract the guy. really loudly.
“TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE STAR!! HOW I WONDER WHAT YOU ARE!!!”
everyone stopped and looked at you even five
the masked figure stopped and looked at you. Even though he was hooded you could feel confusion drip off him.
at that diego came running around the corner. He came around “IVE GOT YOU, GUYS!” diego direct kick right in the hooded figures jaw. This caused the figure to get kicked right off five who went ahead and caught his breath.
Out of the house came the family except for luther who was using the fire extinguisher to put out the fire before it got bad.
you saw you had the dagger with you. you went wide eyed and looked to diego “DIEGO! CATCH!”
diego looked to you just as you threw the candy dagger. His powers brought the dagger to him and he caught it and he began to fight the figure. Kicking dodging and fighting until diego got a couple good slashes at the figure and it sent the guy collapsing
~Timeskip~
the police had been called. It ended up being that the hooded figure was an arsonist the police had been trying to catch for a while now.
the family was talking to the officer or talking amongst themselves as a firefighter went in to check the surrounding area.
Five in the meantime after getting a wound on his head checked out by the ambulance that was taking the arsonist. Once done he looked around until he saw you. You ended up looking his way and he made a break for it and when he got to you his lips were on yours.
your arms snaked around his neck. his holding your face. When he pulled back he gave a few more softer kisses which you gladly reciprocated. “You saved my life”
you looked at him “Not quite diego did”
he chuckled “Yes but if you hadn’t distracted him i would’ve been choked out and blue”
you smiled softly kissing him a few more separate times which he reciprocated.
Five looked at you “Y/n i know this is the worst time but y/n will you do me the honor of making me the happiest man alive and be my girlfriend”
your heart thumped harder for him than it has before. “Yes…yes i will, five” he celebrated internally before kissing you again.

Hey hey! sorry i didnt answer this one right away its been sitting here collecting dust but you know what its time to get out the box my little friend! i love you be safe out there people! 💋😘 (P.S sorry if it isnt good i tried to replicate what you asked but its not to great. I hope you can forgive me 😔)
These early tests and such that seem to date from around 2003-04ish, before full production on the movie began for a tentative November 2005 release. I guess the delay to June 9, 2006 meant a movie finished well ahead of schedule.
I would honestly would love to see MORE of what this version of the movie would've looked like. Cartoonier, stretchier, even more in line with one of its inspirations - the 1952 Disney short SUSIE THE LITTLE BLUE COUPE - than the finished film was, which aimed for a little more realism in its animation. I'd imagine a lot of this approach was discarded once original director Jorgen Klubien, who pitched a talking cars movie to Pixar bosses in the first place, was removed from the film by John Lasseter in 2003. The side of the story that was never told, until Lasseter's fall from grace circa 2017-18.
Hence the bonus features for the film, the Art Of book, etc., skipping over this chapter of the film's production. How very little of it has been shown in behind-the-scenes materials...
Some the clips collected in this video were from the Blu-ray release waaaay back in 2007 (with the interactive filmmakers' commentaries) that are also in the video, while others I hadn't even seen before. Where'd they get them?
... and then there's the teaser trailer that ran before THE INCREDIBLES in November 2004...
I find it sooooo amusing that the 57 Corrosive Seal version of Lightning McQueen is the subject of fan animation and fan-art and such, lots of dissection of those early prototype version clips...
I was on that stuff back when the trailer was released, lol. I found it unusual that there were two Lightnings in it, but I guess they had to make use of the old models that were presumably just sitting around. That was more or less my guess back then, that it was an early version using a number referencing Lasseter's birth year. This was the era where Pixar teasers were made up of custom scenes, nothing from the finished film.
Like I was looking at that trailer top to bottom circa late 2004, right down to spotting all the names of the discarded food products that make up the bug city in A BUG'S LIFE being used as the cars' sponsors. Even a logo for A BUG'S LIFE can be seen on the vehicles, along with one for the CDA from MONSTERS, INC.
And McQueen is indistinguishable from the other racers, they all pretty much have the same stock bodies. Very much late '90s/early aughts NASCAR-style cars.
That first teaser is also kind of funny in how it opens with a bumblebee (not a car-ified bee), complete with some of Randy Newman's score from A BUG'S LIFE, that it was seemingly tricking audiences seated for THE INCREDIBLES into thinking a second BUG'S LIFE could've been the next Pixar film. I knew it was going to be CARS because I had seen the film listed on IMDb, but when that trailer began, I was a bit confused. I saw the Pixar logo, and thought, "This is CARS, right? Right?" And then this bumblebee appears, there's cacti- Huuuuh? Until *splat*, there we go, it's CARS. Poor bumblebee!
I'll tell a funny story... The only thing I had seen of CARS prior to seeing THE INCREDIBLES on opening weekend was a synopsis, no image or anything. It said something to the tune of "A collection of cars get their kicks on Route 66"... And for whatever reason, my mind translated that to "a collection of TOY cars". Because of "collection". And because TOY STORY 1 & 2, of course... Maybe a bunch of die-casts or whatever, driving around the streets, but nope. It was full-scale talking cars, ahhh, makes sense! I was beyond excited, because I actually love classic autos, and seeing that the next Pixar movie was all about that? Sign me up! Most people were dreading it back then, many were sooooo sure that it was going to be *it*. The first Pixar flop, truly this time. (Narrator: "It wasn't.")
That teaser was later updated a month into THE INCREDIBLES' release, when Disney had announced that the film was leaving fall 2005 for summer 2006. I remember being so disappointed back then, like nooooo, I gotta wait LONGER to see this?? Thus, a good quality upload of that trailer w/ the original November 4, 2005 release date is currently not too easy to find. Disney Animation's first all-CG movie CHICKEN LITTLE ended up taking that date, moving out of July 1, 2005. A trailer for that also ran before THE INCREDIBLES.
Anyways, I wonder if there's more footage out there of 57 Lightning and early Doc, Luigi, etc. That's the kind of rare Pixar media I often think about, the stuff I'd love to see. But, until some digging is done, it's out of my reach lol.
Nowadays, CARS is pretty well-liked. Way more than it was back in 2006, lemme tell ya. I see all sorts of people in their 20s praising it, when I worked at a cinema, a couple of my Gen Z co-workers expressed that they quite liked it, one of them even saying that he missed when Disney made movies like CARS 2... CARS 2... Typically the most-despised Pixar film, lol. First-time watching reactors on YouTube also *love* CARS and CARS 2, it's kinda surprising to me. I always loved the first CARS myself, in fact I think it's perfectly in line with the earliest Pixar films pre-NEMOish, their clever comedies, before the higher ambitions of films like THE INCREDIBLES and WALL-E... Like release that movie in 2000 or whatever, between TOY STORY 2 and MONSTERS, INC., I think it would be looked at a little differently... but it was widely accepted that it was a misstep for the studio, despite its box office success and good audience scores.
When released, it was the first Pixar film to miss the coveted 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, settling for somewhere in the 70s. I was pretty online back when it came out, when I was 13 years old, and I caught wind of it. A lot of critics echoed a similar sentiment, "It's good enough, but it's definitely Pixar's weakest film." A lot of reviews dismissed it as a DOC HOLLYWOOD rip-off. Online it was harsher, "I love Pixar films, except CARS." Like, even THE SIMPSONS made that joke once: The episode where Lisa sees employees from "Mixar", and says she loves all of their films... Except CARS. It was always "Except CARS". It was like the *one* splotch on their track record, as it was followed up with RATATOUILLE, WALL-E, UP, and TOY STORY 3... And then that streak breaks with CARS 2, the only Pixar film with a straight up Rotten score... Damn, CARS must be toxic. The motor oil spreading into the perfectly good punch bowl, eh?
I think the two PLANES movies made at Disneytoon also didn't help, creating some franchise fatigue. CARS 3 finally came out in summer 2017, some 11 years after the original film, and some critics couldn't seem to admit that they found it to be a good film. A lot of the sentiment was just "It's good and all, but it's a CARS movie, though, so it still stinks." Others felt it was the best in the series, whereas I begged to differ. The first is still tops for me, but I do like CARS 3 a great deal. It's too bad director Brian Fee didn't get to make his original movie at Pixar. I also liked the Disney+ series CARS ON THE ROAD, and would be game for a fourth movie... But I don't know if that's happening anytime soon, they probably would've said so today haha. There's seemingly little room for one on the slate anyways, seems booked all the way up to 2031. COCO 2 in 2029, a Domee Shi-directed musical, and a new MONSTERS, INC. movie... That would be really far down the, forgive the pun, road.
But yeah, where was I? CARS 1 is a bigger deal today than back then, a lot of the people who saw it as young kids in 2006 and onwards took it with them into the present, it's now seen as a bona fide Pixar classic. I don't feel so lonely in being a big fan of it anymore, lol.
And in due time, all the "bad" or "lesser" Pixar movies of the 2010s... All the films that marked their "decline" or whatever... BRAVE, MONSTERS UNIVERSITY, etc. And eventually this decade's movies that the Internet decided were all duds, indicative that the studio has lost their magic... May end up being yesterday's favorites, too.
In short, people on the Internet have always been declaring that Pixar was losing their magic.

However, a diversity of Fives recklessly barged into the house(where the family is at the moment) wanting to claim you as theirs(unfortunately all of them lost their (name) ), The whole room went chaotic due to their desire to be with you and Paradox Psychosis.

angst? Corniness? Cringey? OOC?
AUTHORS NOTE: THIS IS MY FIRST WRITING SO BEAR WITH ME AND MY BAD WRITING 💔
After the cleanse, all of you were surprisingly alive and well. The changes was that you all had no more powers or anything abnormal just ordinary people now. Although, you still saw how Five looked at Lila during the cleanse and how he treated her, you were… Envious. Jealous.
(although, you didn’t noticed that he gazed at you with a lovelorn gaze.)
You knew there was some spark or tension between Lila and Five. You doubted that at first during Obsidian Hotel, but now… It pains you how he cheated on you with his brother’s wife. Were you not good enough, what’s your relationship with him now after that.?
You cherished your relationship with Five, but he unfortunately grew out his love for you. Did he?
You gazed at him with a lovelorn gaze. His words were still ringing in your head.
FLASHBACK
"I’m sorry (name), but I grew out of love in our relationship." Five lied said.
"What.? I’m sure we can fix this relationship. Please—" You begged.
Five cuts you off, "I’m sorry, but I told you, we’re done. I’m sorry, (Name). I really am, but I don’t think this relationship is gonna work at all."
"Five.. I– Just please—" You begged, only to get cut off twice.
"(Name). I told you this isn’t gonna work out. We’re done." Five warned in an exhausted tone.
PRESENT
You, the family and Five were back in Diego’s house to celebrate Christmas properly…
You approached Five, although, Five already knew what you were about to ask. "(Name), we’re officially done. If that’s what you’re gonna ask."
You stayed silent, grieving inside. "So… Did you regret it.?" You bit the side inside of your cheek. Hoping for Five to say something you’d like.
There was a deafening silence around the both of you, Five then broke it. "No." He said with no remorse. He’s lying.
"Oh, I see… I understand and I respect your decision and response." You smiled as a sign of respect, not knowing what to reply with, although your heart strings were being tugged by the words and tones he used.
Every memory you had together with Five was running around your mind, the way he was with you during the whole mission… Was it all an act? Why did you even forgive him after he cheated on you? Will you ever move on?
A thousand questions were swirling around your head, you were heartbroken but you still have to smile. After all, you wouldn’t want to ruin the family’s Christmas evening?
You sat on the couch, wistfully self-conscious around the family, especially Five and Lila, after everything.
Until…
"That’s our cue!"
A diversity of Fives recklessly barged in the room, bringing chaos in the family’s Christmas evening. You were confused and surprised by the doppelgängers of Five.
On the other hand, Five was flabbergasted and speechless at the diversity of Fives he met yesterday in Max’s Delicatessen. The amount of chaos that was brought in the room.
"Dibs on (name)!" Waiter Five yelled out.
Waiter Five was elbowed by Brisket Five. "Fuck you, Waiter Five! They’re mine!" Brisket Five accused.
Waiter Five pushed Brisket Five. "Fuck you too! I’m having them first!" Waiter Five whined out.
Loose necktie Five blinks out of no where, blinking nearby (Name). "Not if I got them first!" He yelled out with a grin, reaching out to you.
"Oh no you don’t!" The rest of the Fives pulled Loose necktie Five away from you.
The scene was so chaotic, all Fives were itching, some were denying, some farting, some were thirsty and had the need to go take a piss, some had acute paranoia, uncontrollable perspiration, and some having homicidal rage.
The family was confused why there were a diversity of Fives.
"Woah, a diversity of Fives all wanting (Name)! This is the best Christmas ever." Klaus commented.
The original Five, he was irritated and agitated. He was about to stop all of them until all of them looked at (Name).
"Pick me!"
"No me!"
"You all are idiots, why would she ever choose you guys? Choose me."
"No me! They’re all idiots! I can treat you better!"
They all started bickering, Despite that they were all arguing, you decided to end the fight.
"I choose none of you!" You shouted. You had enough with Five, maybe it’s time to move on. Seeing a diversity of a man who cheated on you and lied to you multiple times made you irritated and agitated.
All the Fives were upset, some huffed, some respected your decision. They all left.
You finally moved on from Five.
FUTURE
It’s been two years since your break up with Five, you lived alone in your apartment with your pet cat, Miri.
— FIVE’S POV
Five took a deep breath, he was outside (name)’s apartment’s doorstep. It’s been a while, we both haven’t seen each other in a while. He hesitated to ring the doorbell, and then he got the courage and rang the doorbell.
For a few seconds, you didn’t answer, However, You opened the door and was surprised to see Five in your doorstep. "Five? Oh, uhh… Good morning?" You were still awkward and shy.
"Good morning." There was an undeniable deafening silence around the both of you for a while. "May I?" Five gestured inside.
You nodded and moved to the side. "Of course… Welcome yourself in."
Five went inside your apartment, your apartment was neat and nice, felt like home… He sat on the couch.
"Would you like some coffee?" You asked in a friendly manner.
Five hesitated, he thought about it for a moment and nodded hesitantly. "Sure… Why not."
You went to the kitchen to brew some coffee for Five.
Five may look calm, but in the inside, he was slightly panicking. He’s in his ex-girlfriend’s apartment. He still hasn’t moved on, he was harsh with you despite that he was harsh on you he was only doing that because he was afraid of breaking or showing any vulnerability. He still loves you.
He was zoning out, questions swirling around his head about you. He was zoned out until you snapped him out of it by handing him black coffee.
"Here’s your coffee." You were civil after everything, you must really moved on.
Five looked at the coffee in your hand and accepted the coffee. "Thanks, love." He didn’t realize what he said until he saw your reaction.
You were surprised with a raised eyebrow, perplexed by what Five blurted out. Five realized what he just blurted out and blushed slightly in embarrassment. "Sorry, it’s a habit."
The silence around both of you was so deafening for a minute. Five had a question in mind and finally had the courage to say it.
"So… (Name). About our relationship…" Five cuts shortly to set his gaze on you.
"What about our relationship?" (Name) questioned.
"Do you ever think we could get back together?" Five questions with a hesitant hoarse voice.
You looked at Five, unsure and perplexed about what he just told you. You took a moment to think. "I’ll think about it."
Five was anxious at what your answer would be. "Don’t worry, take your time."
You smiled at Five, thankful at his patience. "Then I’d need a lot of time to think. Just don’t treat yourself a stranger, Five."
Five felt his gut getting punched, he was too anxious. All he could do was smile and nod at you. How could he ever get back with you after everything he let you suffer through?
Hey I want to request something since I saw your request was open. So can you do a fic where five and y/n ( they are already married) end up in the deli with the other fives.
Basically there are only few fives that have a y/n but she's died in their timeline. So basically it's just the other fives wanting to know more about her abd the fives telling their stories of their y/n
Y/n absolutely loves the attention she almost sequeled when she saw the other fives lol.
a/n: so this actually ended up turning into a more depressing piece than i planned LOL but the original intention is there
warnings: language, angst, mentions of death, light amount of fluff
summary: your search for answers leads you to a deli with multiple versions of your husband inside
As the danger of the impending apocalypse finally begins to sink in for Five, he realizes he needs to get you somewhere safe until he figures out a way to stop the world from ending. Thus, while his siblings continued to fight off the monstrous cleanse that was Ben and Jennifer, Five quickly grabbed hold of you and jumped you both to the only place he could think of.
You stumble over your own feet as your body adjusts to being dropped into a new setting, your hand quickly raising to shield your eyes from the bright neons that hang above you as you take in your surroundings. A subway car comes to a screeching halt in front you, and before you can protest Five is quickly ushering you inside.
“Five, where are we?” You demand, completely disoriented from having been transported away from the fight without warning and preoccupied with worry at the thought of your family fighting against the Cleanse without you both present. “Where are we going?”
“I’m taking you somewhere safe where you can stay until I figure out how to undo this mess,” he instructs you hastily, his lips pulling back into an exasperated frown at your resistance to enter the subway car. He doesn’t have time for you to fight him on this, his siblings need him, and he needs you away from the fight. Though you’re skilled at combat and wickedly smart, you don’t have powers, and Five can’t risk something happening to you while he’s preoccupied with saving the world.
“You’re leaving me?!” You exclaim in distress as panic immediately begins to take over your rational mind. You push against him harder to move away from the train, but despite all your efforts the boy doesn’t budge.
“It’s only temporary, I promise you,” he assures you, and when you shove him hard in the chest once more he tightly takes hold of your hands and brings them to his lips to comfort you. “I’ll take you somewhere nice, somewhere with a beautiful house and a garden full of strawberry bushes. I found it while exploring other timelines in search of clues on how to prevent the apocalypse, I know it’s safe because I went there alone. You can stay in the house until this is all over and I’ll come back for you.”
“Five, what if…” you swallow harshly as tears begin to well in your eyes, your emotions overtaking you at the thought of this being goodbye, “…what if you don’t come back?”
Five refuses to meet your gaze when the question leaves your lips. He’d never lie to you, and he knows he can’t guarantee he’ll live long enough to join you in the peaceful timeline he’d found, but he doesn’t have the heart to voice this to you. How can he look you in your tear filled eyes and tell you that this might be the last time you’ll be together as husband and wife?
Sighing, he releases your hands in exchange for cupping your face so that he may brush away the tears that slide down your warm cheeks. He hopes that one day you’ll be able to understand that every moment leading up to this has been for you, and he would happily die a hundred times over if it meant keeping you safe. “You’re just going to have to trust me.”
You open your mouth to argue only to snap it shut when your gaze falls over his shoulder and lands on another figure in the subway. You blink away your tears to get a better view and are left speechless when you realize you’re staring back at the face of your husband.
But how can that be when he’s standing right in front of you?
Noticing your change in demeanor, Five follows your gaze and spots the lookalike that stands across the way from you both. His features contort into confusion as you both watch the second Five offer you a wave in greeting before disappearing down the stairs. Exchanging looks of uncertainty, Five and yourself immediately rush after the doppelgänger to figure out just what exactly is going on.
Your quick chase leads you both to the front doors of a deli, the dazzling sign above welcoming you warmly as you cautiously open the doors and set foot into Max’s despite Five’s protests to wait. If this other Five has the answers you need to return home safely together, then you’ll stop at nothing to get them.
Your originally confident demeanor quickly dwindles when the restaurant becomes deathly silent upon your entry. While you only expected to see one Five, you now find about twenty of them staring intently at you as you slowly walk towards the lookalike from the subway that waves you over to his table. Five is quick to rush after you and place a protective arm around your waist; you’re not the only one unsettled by their stares, and he feels uncharacteristically territorial in the presence of himself.
“Have a seat,” the subway lookalike offers with a gesture towards the empty space across from him, and you’re both quick to slide into the cushions at his command. “I’m glad you found me.”
“What is this place?” Your husband demands impatiently as another Five dressed in a waiter’s uniform approaches your table with three cups of coffee in hand.
“This is where all the Fives come after they decide to give up on figuring out a way to stop the apocalypse.”
As he speaks, a plate of pie is suddenly placed in front of you, and before you can even open your mouth to question it, the waiter offers you wink and assures you, “It’s on the house.”
Picking up the fork, your eyes widen in surprise as you realize what specific dessert has been given to you. Looking up at the Five across from you, you ask, “How did he know that-“
“Pumpkin pie is your favorite?” The lookalike finishes for you with an amused smile before leaning back to take a drink of his coffee. “We all know that, because we all know you.”
“Me?” You repeat quietly, brows drawn together in confusion as you look to your husband who seems rather displeased with all of the attention you’re getting. He never once thought to think of himself as potential competition over you, but it figures. Who better than himself to sweep you off your feet?
“Mind telling me why you all seem to have such a great interest in my wife?” Five demands with a wry smile, eyes blazing with annoyance and a subtle hint of jealousy.
“‘Your’ wife?” The Five behind the deli counter scoffs in amusement. “Take a number, pal.”
“What deli Five means to say is that each and every one of us has our own y/n in our own perspective timelines,” the boy across from you clarifies before gesturing to the the back of the shop. Your eyes widen in shock as you take in all the various pictures of yourself that line the wall from top to bottom, and it takes you a moment to process the fact that various versions of you have existed throughout time unbeknownst to you.
“My y/n was a trained assassin,” the Five at the table next to you describes with a dreamy smile before biting into his sandwich.
“Mine was sent alongside Hazel and Cha Cha to kill me,” another voices while pulling down the collar of his shirt to showcase the ghastly scar on his chest. “She gave me this along with three beautiful kids before I screwed it all up with this end of the world bullshit.”
“If you all care so much about her then why did you give up trying to save the world?” Your husband protests in agitation. Your search for answers is going absolutely nowhere, and you’re both left with more questions than solutions. If these doppelgängers were really meant to be him from different timelines, then why did they quit so easily? His sole purpose, his entire being, was doing everything in his power to ensure the safety of his family. Come hell or high water, Five would always be willing to get his hands dirty if it meant you and his siblings lived to see another day. So why weren’t they doing the same? “Why come here instead of preventing the apocalypse so she has the chance to live a safe and happy life even if it means you can’t be in it?”
A forlorn silence fills the deli at his question, and now none of the Fives can find it in themselves to look at you. Their features are almost shameful, their eyes full of guilt and their shoulders full of tension as no one dares to answer.
“When us Fives find a way to save the world, y/n is the one that pays the price,” the boy across from you discloses somberly before tilting his head to meet your gaze. Looking at you is like looking at a ghost, and he has to stop himself from reaching out to you as if you are his own. “The Handler killed my y/n after discovering my betrayal of the Commission.”
Another Five raises a woeful hand before announcing, “Viktor killed my y/n on accident with his bow after he discovered his powers.”
“My wife took a bullet for me because she thought my life was worth more than her own.”
“Dad had y/n disposed of in my timeline because he saw her as a distraction to me and my siblings.”
“Cha Cha tracked us down, found our home, and burned it to the ground with y/n still in it while I was away trying to save the world.”
You swallow harshly and ignore the knots in your stomach at hearing all the violent ways in which other versions of you had met their end. Your heart aches at learning what these men have been through and how much they’ve lost, but it also makes you begin to wonder if your fate will be worse than any story they can come up with. Sensing your discomfort, Five wraps a comforting arm around your figure and pulls you closer into his side.
“No matter how many times I traveled back to make it right, the result was the same,” the boy across from you relents in a desolate tone. “If I couldn’t even keep the most important woman in my life safe then how could I expect myself to save the world?”
“I’m sorry for your loss,” you murmur softly, taking it upon yourself to reach across for his hand and offer your comfort. “I’m sorry for all of your losses. But as a y/n myself, I don’t think she would have wanted you to give up. She would have wanted you to keep going in spite of her death because that’s what she loved about you- your strength and your resilience when it comes to saving the people you care about.”
“God, you sound just like her,” he comments with a doleful laugh before shaking his head and pulling his hand away. “Believe me, I did everything I could. But no matter what we do, there’s no escaping the apocalypse.”
“So that’s it? There’s nothing we can do?” Five retorts in disbelief. This was all a complete waste of his time. He’s nowhere near close to preventing the Cleanse, and you’re still not somewhere safe away from the impending apocalypse.
“You can enjoy the time you have left with your y/n,” the lookalike instructs firmly, the other Fives in the deli nodding along. “You got lucky, you still have your wife, so why don’t you do us all a favor and take her somewhere nice?”
“I’m not giving up on this,” your husband argues before hastily rising from his seat in the booth. “There has to be a way to save the world, and I won’t stop until I figure it out myself.”
You watch him stalk out of the deli with purpose as he slams the door open and begins to formulate his next move. The room is silent other than the bell that jingles above the door, and you take this as your cue to leave.
“I should probably go after him,” you admit with a meek smile before scooting your way out of the booth. The Five from the subway rises to meet you, and he can’t help but to carefully cup your face in his hands and admire your features for just a moment. This might be the last time he’ll ever get to see you in person, and he’d like to commit every detail of you to memory from the reflection of the light in your eye to the smell of your perfume.
“If he ever gives you any trouble, you know where to find us,” he instructs you firmly before pressing a kiss to the crown of your head and releasing you from his hold. Smiling faintly, you return the gesture by chastely pressing your lips to his cheek before rushing off after your husband.
Who would have guessed that in every timeline, in every possible version of himself to exist, Five’s love for you knows no bounds.
