three years ago i was trapped in an awful relationship with a toxic person who blamed me for her drug addition. i had to break up over the phone because every other time i’d tried to break up in person, she had coerced me into staying.

this wednesday my boyfriend drove 45 minutes out of his way just to give me coffee during my long work day like i didn’t have time to do anything but hug him and thank him. when i was close to tears with gratitude, he shrugged and said, “of course.”

things get better. you will go from standing in the shower thinking “god what if this is for the rest of my life” to “god, i hope this is for the rest of my life.” hold on, okay?

Friendly seasonal reminder

Don’t keep lilies in your house if you have cats.

They will die.

Even if they just breathe in the pollen. Or get it on their fur. They will fucking die. Do not do it

to be specific, cats eating the lilies or grooming their pelts where the pollen has settled will cause acute liver failure in cats. as long as you take your cat to the vet immediately (or very soon) after ingestion, your cat will make it. but the costs of treatment can be expensive (and an extremely uncomfortable experience for the cat) and if treatment is denied, your cat will die.

so yes!!! do not keep lilies in your house or send people lilies who you know have cats!! (even if you’re not sure if they have cats, send them another flower just in case!)

also tell people that you know!

Symptoms show up a couple of hours after cats ingest the lily, and at that point you only have a few hours to get your cat to the emergency vet. 

Treatments like this can surpass $1,000. I know a lot of people don’t have that. I don’t have that. A vase of lilies is not worth it. For your sake and your cat’s sake, get a different plant instead.
