Let’s pass this around and find out who’s still with us.
What do you think being hypnotised by Kaa feels like? I imagine it’s kinda like when you’re spiralling down into an orgasm.
Hmm… I’d say that’s underselling it! Kaa’s hypnosis:
1. Triggers a significantly stronger high.
I don’t have the data to pinpoint an exact magnitude, but the chemical high occurring in your brain must be of an order so great, that it can convince your body to perform physical feats you wouldn’t be capable of under normal circumstances.
Exhibit A:
Just look at Mowgli’s flawless horizontal form. That is an incredible gymnastic feat! If you don’t believe me, next time during sex, try to have your partner balance your back on the tip of a baseball bat. Good luck with that.
2. Activates much quicker than boring old sex!
We really could have used more data, but we’ll have to manage with what we have, I guess.
Exhibit B:
Timing the hypnotic induction from the point of contact in Mowgli’s first go-around:
~26 seconds!
That’s definitely faster than your average round of sex!
But that’s just the first time. The induction process significantly quickens after your brain has been wired for it from previous exposure.
Mowgli’s second time?
6 seconds.
Bagheera’s hits that same ballpark too, further corroborating our hypothesis.
In conclusion: stop comparing Kaa’s hypnosis to weaksauce sex!
It’s much stronger.
where! has! my! passion! gone! I had it abundantly when I was a child, and I must have dropped it along the way, but I cannot figure where!
oh hey folks fun update, i found my passion again? i just had to find my right outlet, get to a place where I have aspirations, dispel apathy and pursue what I love, it’s all good and swell!
reblog this to find the right outlet, get to a place where you have aspirations, dispel apathy and pursue what you love, and rediscover your passion.
What would be needed to have a new hypno peril scene as iconic as Kaa?
I think there would have to be that air of danger, with the threat of something bad was possibly going to happen to the subject. Like with Kaa there’s always the threat of vore.
But I think the Tist would also need to be manipulatively dominant. Using smooth talk and double speak to sub textually get across what their really after while playing their cards close to the chest. essentially making the sub go against their better interests to give into the tist’s demands and wants all the while thinking it was their, the sub’s, idea the whole time.
There would also have to be an air of seduction. Hypnosis is a very seductive and intimate act and there has to be that smooth soft alluring seduction involved in order to really woo the sub into a false sense of comfort and security
But in the end, the tist also needs to be aggressive and relentless in their pursuit of the subject. Never giving up and never below or above just taking what they want
What makes a subject susceptible to Kaa’s Hypnosis?
Going off of evidence gained from the three encounters with Kaa across the original two animated movies, as well as his failure to hypnotize Shere Khan, I believe that three aspects of a subject’s personality influence their susceptibility to Kaa’s hypnosis: Fear, Individuality, and Desire.
I believe that fear plays a definite role in Kaa's hypnosis, as both Bagheera and Shanti were afraid of Kaa and dropped much quicker than Mowgli, who went slowly, and Shere Khan, who dropped not at all. But Bagheera, while afraid, was still able to eke out a "Please, Kaa". Shanti, however, fell almost instantly.
So while fear is a common denominator, I'm betting individuality and stubbornness, or lack thereof, plays a role too. Mowgli took the longest to fall in both his encounters because he wasn't afraid of Kaa, more annoyed and angry than anything. We know that Mowgli hates being told what to do, giving Kaa even less of a grasp. Nevertheless, I'm betting he took orders from his wolf family at some point. He knows how to obey, and chooses not to. Kaa is able to work around that, possibly by repeating the orders of an authority figure Mowgli has recognized (Bagheera telling him to go to sleep).
Shere Khan, who not only is NOT afraid of Kaa, takes orders from no one- he is infamous in the jungle for it. Therefore, he's not effected by Kaa at all.
Shanti, who not only was terrified when she met Kaa, is the poster child for conformity. She's the one constantly telling Mowgli not to go into the jungle, the one constantly trying to please her parents, etc. It's possible that Kaa's hypnosis places him as an authority figure to be pleased. Shanti looked at him in horror and saw someone bigger and stronger than her that she instinctively wanted to please. Only instead of her parents telling her to fetch water, it was a snake telling her to be eaten.
There is one more factor to discuss with Kaa, and that is desire. This is the section I have the least amount of evidence for, so it’s still largely theoretical. When Kaa hypnotized Bagheera, the panther was grinning even as he was resisting- Kaa was clearly doing something that felt good, and that weakened his resolve.
The other evidence comes from the second encounter with Mowgli. Mowgli clearly is still unafraid of Kaa, and still doesn’t see him as any sort of authority figure. Kaa has no “in” with Mowgli this encounter... until he hits upon Mowgli’s desire for friendship after his perceived betrayal.
This, coupled with his repeated assurances that Mowgli can “trust in him”, gave Kaa exactly what he needed to drop Mowgli.
What are YOUR thoughts on what makes someone susceptible to Kaa?
Is there a reason to why shanti instantly lost to Kaa…? She showed zero signs of resistance throughout the entire thing
I think it was because she was scared, I think Kaa may be able to take advantage of that to work his spell more quickly. It would explain why Bagheera fell so quickly and why Kaa tried to intimidate Mowgli as soon as he meets him. Otherwise Kaa may need a hook like “go to sleep” or “Trust in me”
You might be on to something!
I’ll be responding to this on my blog shortly, I can’t insert visual evidence like I wanted to here.
