Yuu knows how much his fae heritage means to him, so Yuu properly courts Sebek the Fae Way. Which Sebek finds both very touching and also a little irritating because the was planning on courting them!!! Not the other way around!!!

They even go so far as to fight Lilia as a proxy for Sebek’s family since they’re still in school

Honestly Yuu kills fae courting. They do and say all the right things. They make handmade enchanted objects for courting gifts (which is both very difficult and very rare). They beat a former general in a spar. They even got Malleus’s permission. They’re basically fae bait (or they would be if any other fae saw it happen and Malleus wouldn’t smite someone for getting in the way of his ship)

Honestly Sebek is some mixed and pleased and embarrassed because Yuu is putting the amount of effort in to court him as one would try and court a royal or someone similarly above their station. Like Sebek isn’t only a half fae and Yuu isn’t the child of a goddess and the Chosen of a God Queen. Really, they’d be considered above his station

Sebek responds to this by trying to find and learn any of Yuu’s courting methods from their heritage. Except well… yeah

He doesn’t want to ask Yuu as Yuu learned everything about fae courting on their own (read: asking Malleus and Lilia) so he must find a way to do the same!

(In the end Malleus asks Yuu instead and Yuu explains that there aren’t really any courting practices applicable to their situation given most involve the father of the one being courted setting tasks for the one courting to fulfill. Which hasn’t been done in centuries anyways)

Sebek is still very insistent however so Yuu has all those the consider family (so the First Years, Grim and [SPOILERS]) set one task for Sebek to complete for their hand

They were originally going to just have Grim, who had since actually become their familiar and therefore the most apt choice, set up one task but Sebek insisted that since Yuu went above and beyond for him, he should also go above and beyond. Hence what is dubbed by the First Years as The Trials

They all very in intensity, difficulty and seriousness but the First Years know this is a big deal for Sebek so they don’t make a joke of it

THE bickering old married couple. They argue all the time over complete nonsense but it’s not serious. It’s basically just enrichment for the both of them

Sometimes Idia is hit with the dissonance of “cool badass magical prodigy demigod who has fought in wars and killed immortals” and “his tiny partner who argues with his about what metals hold magic best and orders good for him”

Like, he’s already baffled that he has a partner but his partner is a DEMIGOD??? And that demigod is YUU???

Yuu has offered to, if not break his families curse, than at least find a suitable work around to it

The two of them just Make Things. All the time. For no real reason
