what no one ever talks about in college is how you could see all your friends fall in love, experience heartbreak, have hookups, relationships, everything.. and you just, sat there. And you were so damn angry. Cause you saw those young souls you love so much make all those stupid, really stupid mistakes, because what else can they do when they're nineteen and in love, and you just thought to yourself: if only this happened to me. If only this happened to me. You knew, you just knew you could do better. You knew how to love, you knew who to love, when and how to show it, but... you had no chance to, right? maybe you were a bit too different, not that cool, not that outgoing, but if only, right? if only it happened to you. and maybe after a while you start to realize that love is not for you, right? it's something that doesn't occur to people like you, in this day and age. so you decide to give the love you have stored to the world around you. you paint a pretty picture and you pet a few cats, you walk around the block and you give a compliment to your barista. but the feeling never goes away, right? the world never lets you forget, not when you look at your "twenty-five years and still in love" parents, or the two middle schoolers holding hands as they walk outside your window. it's always there, this ghost that reminds of Sylvia Plath, "it's not for you" it whispers. It's not for you. It's the thing you want most in your life, it's all around you, everyone has it, but it's just not for you.
Abolish the YA genre. No more books for young adults. At some point in your adolescence, you just go from reading Goodnight Moon to War and Peace. No more stepping stone in the middle. Grow the fuck up.
My future child reaches for a copy of Divergent and I say âNo. Youâre 12. Go read the Iliad cover to cover.â
i hate this popular sentiment that's like "nobody cares about your baby" "nobody cares what you had for dinner" "nobody cares about your spotify wrapped" like ok why are you on social media following people whose lives you don't care about. there's an easy fix for that
kills me when i see two people arguing and one person is like âi am so sick of people lauding things like âfanfictionâ and âYAâ over real art. cheap entertainment is no replacement for true intellectual stimulationâ and the other person is like âwell maybe real art isnât as intellectual as you think it is. people just assume that the classics are good because everyone says so. but in fact, a lot of so called âcheapâ literature is more intellectual becauseââ
intellect doesnât exist within the pages of a book. intellect exists inside your brain. reading Shakespeare doesnât magically increase your intellectual ability any more than reading PokĂ©mon fanfiction magically dissolves it. a 13 year old applying critical thinking skills to a Young Adult novel is using more of their intellect than an adult reading Sartre under the passive assumption that it will make them smarter
itâs one thing to attack the thoughtfulness of a specific authorâbut thatâs not the case here, is it? this is an argument over the readerâs intellect. âsmart people read this; stupid people read that. if you donât like what i like, itâs because you just donât Get It.â give me a break. thatâs not an objective analysis, itâs an ego-boost
it's been a year and still think about this post everyday when i go to class.
"I forget if I ever loved anyone else" Matt Maltese, Krystal. This song transports me to late March nights, your laughter, nights spent talking to you, wistful longing. The hope of seeing your adorable little face in person, the hope of finally giving a name to the rush of emotions that filled my mind everytime I heard your name. That's all history now. And you'd know that, if you knew this song. But you never got to know that side of me.
I am jealous of those who think more deeply, who write better, who draw better, who look better, who live better, who love better than I.
-Sylvia Plath

Thinking about that scene in season one where abigail goes, "are we gonna reenact the crime? you be my dad, you be my mom, and you be the man on the phone", suggesting will be the one to cut her throat, with alana bleeding on the front steps and hannibal calling to set the father off with the two words "they know" and how mizumono was so close to her reenactment in all ways but one: she misinterpreted will and hannibals roles as her dangerous father and the mysterious man on the phone
the secret history ruined me but in a good way
