the GazettE ‘new?’ Company
So I’m seeing a lot of happiness/excitement among the fans about the GazettE ‘Finally leaving from PSC’ and I would honestly share this excitement if it wasn’t for this one name of the CEO. (Tomomi Ozaki)
There are some things I would like to point out about this change since, to me personally, this seems a sketchy move on the side of PSC/Tomomi.
First of all: the CEO of the new company is THE EXACT SAME CEO as that of PS Company, which makes it seem likely to me that they are taking basically the same management. For us as fans (and maybe the band/members) this probably won’t mean much change for the better. I saw some people being excited about the youtube account possibly being made available for all countries as an example, but is it’s the same management/CEO this is probably unlikely to happen and besides that they still have SONY as their record label which has a hand in that as well.
Secondly, actually leaving PSC (or maybe just pissing off Tomomi Ozaki) would mean risking to lose a HUGE part of the career they built so far. The GazettE changed their name and logo to which we all know them by now in 2006 while they were under PSC. This means PSC likely has some legal rights to this name and logo and leaving in a way that would not be agreed with means possibly losing this name and logo which are a BIG part of their image. (This is what happened to Alice Nine, they had to continue being A9 because PSC had rights to the name and would not let them use it for future activities. Another example would be SuG losing their logo designed under PSC and having to go back to their old logo after leaving.)
Also PSC hasn’t had any major money making bands besides the GazettE for a long time, Tomomi must have known this. Their other current artists beside the GazettE don’t seem hugely profitable and they might even cause loss of money to PSC. Legally it’s probably not allowed to just fire/end the contract of these artist, at least not with paying them off with some compensation. However, starting another company and only taking the profitable band (the GazettE) would be a totally legal way of ditching the artists they make losses on while still making huge profit of the GazettE. Not sure how this is completely arranged but I’m suspecting something fishy, either PSC might be out of business soon or just continue w/o having to cut into their profit made of Gaze for their other artist. (I must say as a business woman this is an A+ move on Tomomi’s side. As a fan it makes me angry to see so much disregard towards their contracted artists.)
Besides all that Aoi has his own label, if they were really able to actually get away from PSC/Tomomi wouldn’t it make more sense to go under Aoi’s label first and build again from there? (Which is kinda what Miyavi did when he left PSC… which only left him banned at certain venues etc. caused by PSC/Tomomi) If you asked me that would make way more sense and give them way more freedom, especially since Aoi did have some tendencies to complain about the management/handling of big companies’ in the past?
Lastly the guys are mainly tweeting us not to worry instead of having super excited tweets about finally having their ‘own’ company and getting away from PSC. Doesn’t that raise an eyebrow with you all?? They must be aware of (some) fans catching on to them not being completely free from PSC yet or might be on edge about some things themselves~
I think PSC/Tomomi will always have influence on the GazettE as they own A BIG PART of their career/image, while Tomomi financially depends just as much on the GazettE since they are the only major income left. As a fan I hope this last part owns them part of their freedom at least as little as they have now. Since if they would quit Tomomi would have no major income left, this might work as leverage to get some things done. (Think about this, Ruki was probably able to create NIL because of this. However I always suspected PSC/Tomomi having to do something with him being screwed out of Vital Material because PSC had not much say/profit in this brand, while they do also own and profit of a BIG part of NIL)
If you actually came this far reading thank you! Let’s continue to support this amazing band together no matter what happens! (Also if bullshit things come up under ‘their’ new company please try not to blame THEM but keep looking at PSC/Tomomi Ozaki as reason behind things)
