SPERMARGARITA Track Breakdown
When asked about the album title Ruki says he originally planned an erotic theme, but the meaning shifted to "being born". Reita and Ruki joked that without sperm, humanity and “best friends” (referring to the song) wouldn't even exist.
"LINDA ~candydive Pinky heaven~"
Ruki says that "LINDA" is a term referring to their fans/audience, and reading the lyrics with that context conveys the band's true feelings.
"BLACK SPANGLE GANG"
Uruha explained the track shatters their typical sound and the guitar has a more western vibe to it.
Reita enjoyed playing it because it maintains its intro momentum throughout without switching keys.
Ruki was inspired by New York when writing the lyrics even though by this point he had never visited. When Ruki included a line about lowriders and TLC, Uruha admitted he had no idea who TLC was, prompting Kai to explain who they were. Uruha was also completely clueless about "A Nightmare on Elm Street”.
"Wakaremichi"
Uruha says the song is the band's origin and a live staple, adding "Without this, the current Gazette wouldn't exist". They re-recorded it to capture their current sound and for new fans.
Kai recorded drums on it for the first time (since he wasn't in the band yet for the original version) and tweaked the drum patterns to fit his playstyle.
"☆BEST FRIENDS☆"
Uruha called it a great song about friendship, while Kai clarified it reflects the band's bond.
The lyrics credit reads "Dainippon Itan Geisha no Minasama". Reita explained he wrote roughly half of it (including the B-melody, chorus, and rap intro lines).
Ruki revealed Kai tried contributing rap lyrics, but all of Kai's ideas were rejected because the band laughed at them for sounding silly.
Reita says the song is meant to encourage people chasing dreams and acts as a message to themselves.
