      a clatter resounds -- arrow abandoned for staff, she attempts to        mend him once again ( even if she had already tried. and even        if it had already failed ).

                                                    for if he had spoken a second later, the                                                    arrow she had abandoned would have                                                    now pierced his neck.

         she nods, a resolve swelling in her despite the odds. the healer         begins her attempt to stop the bleeding ( there was too much to         simply be able to close the wound with the wave of her staff ). a         large strip of clothing from the hem of her skirt is torn away, now         serving as a makeshift tourniquet of sorts. she presses firmly on         the cloth in an attempt to help clot the blood, completely unaware         of tears mingling with the blood that is beginning to soak her hands.

         “ hold on, takumi. ” she reassures him ( herself ), for he’s still losing         blood and she’s already beginning to lose hope ( after all, it was          only moments ago that he begged for death ).

         “ just hang on a little longer, please ... once the bleeding slows, i          can heal you up with my staff, okay ... ? s - so, say something ....                                             please ... big brother ... ”

      that she did – as soon as he offered relief for her swollen ankle, she wrapped her arm around his, taking the weight off her injury. she didn’t want to be a burden to him, but he had offered, and walking such a long distance wouldn’t be any good for healing. 

        “ thank you, big brother … ” she whispered, nuzzling her face just a bit onto his shoulder as she limped alongside him.

       eyes blank as she tried to focus on the prince, a shaky hand reached to press onto his armor, anything to keep her in reality. she felt sick. there was a faint pain around her abdomen. she didn’t want to look down ( she knew from her experience in healing, a patient seeing their injury greatly decreased their morale ). 

         “ i’m sorry, prince leon, ” sakura gasped out. she didn’t want to put too much stress on her body, but she had to apologize. after all, if she wasn’t in the way all the time, their battles would be much easier. they wouldn’t have to worry about protecting sakura. they wouldn’t have to waste any time trying to help her.

         “ i’m so sorry. ”

     she turns to face nishiki, concern evident on her features. despite sustaining injuries herself, she gave nishiki a quick once-over before addressing his statement. 

       “ yes, i’m alright. ” sakura nodded, hand gripping her staff, struggling to give a reassuring smile. she hated being the source of one’s worry. she hated being someone that people had to protect. she closed the distance between the two of them – normally, she’d be nervous about being so close to a person, but when it came to doing her duty, all of her reservations were stripped away.

        HER staff clattering to the ground, elise completely ignores the world around her and instead throws her arms around the priestess, hugging her tightly. the princess was beyond relieved that the battle was over, but more-so, she was grateful that the other hadn’t gotten hurt despite all of the close calls she’d had. this simply meant that elise would have to stay nearby in their next battles. after all, if sakura had gotten hurt, she would’ve never forgiven herself.

      elise’s affectionate assault ( for lack of better term ) is something that should’ve been expected, but sakura is never prepared for things like this. she can hardly look people in the eye, let alone receive such a tight hug ( even if elise has done it so many times ) ... ! 

        “ e - elise ! ” she stammers from the shock, searching for the proper words to say. she feels terribly for causing the princess such worry ( if only she was of any use with a bow ). every time they enter battle, it’s that same useless feeling that suffocates her, but even so, she can’t help feeling lighter when elise is around.
