â   Maybe a little hint wouldnât hurt. It was hard to resist keeping a secret when she was so curious to know. Sora hummed in thought, as if he was thinking about denying her clue, but decided that it wouldnât hurt to let her in on it after all. âWell, itâs a place youâve been to before. The sunsets are amazing and a new bistro opened there.â
That alone should satisfy her curiosity, if it wasnât already a dead giveaway. Though even if it was, that was fine too. Sora just hoped she would still be excited even if she did figure out where they were heading off to for most of their afternoon.
The corner of his lip twitched into a crooked smile when he felt Kairi give his hand a squeeze, but it was too bad that his heart dropped quite a bit the instant he noticed that the gummy ship was missing.Â
   Their source of transportation!
Not waiting another minute, he grabbed his gummy phone from his pocket and looked at the screen that revealed a message from no other than Donald.
Donald: I took the ship! It was an emergency!
With that, Sora groaned and let the hand holding the device fall to his side. âDarn it,â he complained, feeling utterly bitter. âDoes he even know how to fly the ship anyways?â Sad blue eyes turned to meet Kairiâs before he looked around the areaâ and thatâs when a familiar sound filled the air. The sound of a train.
If this day was supposed to be filled with various emotions, it sure was working! Sora made sure the femaleâs hand was secured within his and tugged her gently towards the direction of the train so they could board on time. âLetâs go, Kairi!â
Some things never do change. Inside the cart of the transport, there was no one elseâ just like the last time he was there. But it was no surprise and he hoped no regular person would wander in by accident anyways. The keyblade wielder lead them to a very empty seat and gave a reassuring smile.
âEver been on one of these before?â   â
Leaning over his shoulder, Kairi took a quick peak at the message Donald had sent. It must have been a pretty big deal if heâd taken the gummi ship that suddenly. Especially considering it was the trioâs main form of transportation!
âI hope everything is okay...â she mumbled quietly, kind of sad about the fact she wouldnât get to ride in the gummi ship. Though she never said it out loud, the redhead was secretly hoping Sora would let her take a chance at driving it.
   Someday...
As the sound of the train pieced through the air, Kairiâs brows knit together in confusion. Thereâs a train all the way out here? How did it even get here? Where did it come from? Where is the station? Why does Sora seem completely unfazed by this whole thing?Â
âThereâs a train here?â she asked, feeling her hand being tugged towards the large purple train cart. It sure did fit the atmosphere of Master Yen Sidâs tower, but it still didnât answer any of her questions at all.Â
Sora seemed so excited by the whole thing, and of course, Kairi was as well. She would consider herself a general optimist and tried to keep things on the positive side, but Sora was a whole other story. He always found a way to make things work.
âIâve never been on a train before, no,â she replied, sitting next to the other teen. âPeople barely even drive at home, our island is so small.â A comfortable smile began to form on her lips as she thought of their home. It made her a little bit sad that Sora hadnât been back in such a long time, though not much had changed. âLast time I heard, they were thinking about making a bigger ferry to get from one side to the other...âÂ
Maybe next time they had a chance to be together, sheâd bring him back home.Â
"Do you even know where this train is going, Sora?" she asked, raising a brow at the spiky haired boy. "If we're going somewhere I've been before that means it's Radiant Garden, the Dark City or Twilight Town... I feel like we're nowhere close to any of thoseâ and if it's the Dark City, I dunno if I want to go there again!"
sorawr¡:
â   Sora was pleased by the fact that Kairi enjoyed the flowers he had chose for her. Even the blush that burned at her cheeks were almost as deep as some of the warm colors of the petals. It suited her very well. He managed to sneak a small peak at her face again before he turned to walk down the stairs together.
It felt right, being together with her. It was hard to imagine that he was so nervous earlier. But why would it be difficult now, when all she did was made him feel at home and made him feel so comfortable being himself? âItâs a surprise,â he said, a small mischievous smile on his lips. âI think youâll like it though.â
He had it planned outâ theyâll spend most of their afternoon at Twilight Town. Theyâll stop by the cafe and have a nice meal and she can meet his friends over there too! After that, theyâll stop by Destiny Island.. Theyâll stop by home. According to Donald, there was supposed to be a meteor shower tonight and Sora saw it as a perfect opportunity to take her there so they can watch it together.
Mentally going through their list of to-dos, it was surprising to feel Kairiâs hand brush against his as they walked side by side, down the winding stairs. It caught him by surprise so much that he quickly glanced at herâ was it a mistake? It mustâve been.
   Until it happened again.
âHaha,â Sora laughed breathlessly in confusion. Whatâs going on? It seemed like his childhood friend didnât seem to know eitherâ the way her face flushed a even darker color.
Well, anyway. Sora was one to take the leap in a lot of things. It wasnât going to be any different now.
So he took her hand in his, holding it gently.   â
âCan I have a tiny hint?â she asked, giving the smallest pout. It was really hard to keep that face up for long. The comfort of being with her favourite person completely took over, and Kairi was okay with it. She couldnât help the permanent smile.
Kairi barely noticed that they had started to walk closer and closer together, shoulder brushing against Soraâs arm and hands briefly making contact every once in a while. It wasnât on purpose, necessarily... but, she wasnât gonna stop it.
   âWhat?âÂ
That laugh never happened for no reason. He must have been thinking about somethingâ and then he took her hand. It was a bit surprising to see him being so bold like that... Usually she was the one to make the first steps in regards to them. She spoke up, and wasnât afraid to show how much she felt, up to a point. But this small gesture made her heart beat a little bit faster, again.Â
Kairi gave his hand a little squeeze as they made it to the bottom floor. Her excitement was bubbling up again at the thought of going on on the gummi ship. Butâ there was no gummi ship in sight. Where were they going to go without it?
âUh, Sora?â Kairi tilted her head towards him with a questioning look. âWhere are we going without the gummi ship?â Her eyes darted all over the open sky, but there was definitely no ship to be found. Strange.

â   Sora waited patiently and strained to hear what ruckus was happening beyond the door. Maybe this was a really bad time? The sound of feet shuffling against the door and protests of Axel could be heardâ perhaps they werenât done with their training or duties after all.
But he wouldnât even have mind to see her at leastâ at all. A minute, a second, anything he would take. His feet began to shift with anticipation and wonder. Should I just open the door myself? It was a challenge to resist the urge to pick at the petals of the bouquet. Thankfully the door opened before he could, and there he was greeted by Kairi and her joke about the flowers being for Master Yen Sid.
âHuh? These are for you..â Sora replied, a bit confused. The smile he forced himself to have faded ever slightly. His eyes werenât lifted yet, still fixated on the flowers that he held, until now. Blue eyes searched for her and now he was in for a surprise.
âKairi?! Wow! You lookâ you look great!â Sora couldnât resist the outburst and the excitement. Before he knew it, a big smile was on his face and he took a step to the side to observe the new clothes she was sporting. âYou even cut your hair,â Nostalgia washed over him, something sweet and memorable. It took him back after all, since her hair used to be short.
With a warm and confident voice, he presented the flowers to her. âYou look beautiful.â
Not even his nerves could stop the teen now and thatâs how heâs always been. To show her a good time and share about their new experiencesâ why, he didnât want anything more.Â
Just Sora and Kairi, even for a moment.
âAre you ready to go?â   â
Kairi had to stifle a laugh at his reaction to her question. He was always so expressive, it was never a question as to what he was feeling.    âOh? You like it?â she asked, flipping the left side of her hair with a small smirk. It had been a last minute decision once her and Axel got their new clothes. Axel had decided to not wear his, but Kairi was quick to dive in to the garments. Once she tried them on and began training more intensely, her longer hair became a bit of a burden.Â
âI had to cut it cause it kept getting in my face while I was training... Itâs no big deal really. Maybe Iâll grow it out again after all of this is overââ
It was really cute how excited he was about her new look... His smile was infectious, bright blue eyes sincere as ever and she was soon matching Soraâs expression with her own. What came next, surprised her to say the least.
Her lips opened slightly, eyes widening as she watched his demeanour change from excited to confident. It was a look she was used to seeing while he was fighting, or challenging Riku. Definitely not with her. That blush from before began to creep back onto her cheeks as she muttered a quiet, âThanks, Sora...â Reaching out to take the flowers, she brought them up to her nose to hopefully cover a bit of the shyness that washed over. âThey smell great!â
âIâm ready,â she replied, using her free hand to close the large wooden door behind her. Beginning to make her way down the winding stairs, Kairi aimlessly started playing with the petals of the flowers, heart still recovering from what just happened.
It was surreal that they were able to be together just the two of them for once, and the thought made her want to throw her hands up in excitement. Sora had been so many places, seen so many things and met so many peopleâ she could only imagine where he was going to take her today.Â
âYou still havenât told me where weâre going!â
Just wanted to draw Kairi with Soraâs Super Groupies clothesÂ
Hereâs my back cover for The Ties That Bind Zine! You may have noticed that the zine gradually moves from the darkness into the light! Nova and I made sure to reflect this in our bookend pieces for the project. :)

Kairi (KINGDOM HEARTS â ˘)
sorawr¡:
â  @kaiiwii¡
â   This was the big day. There was still so many things on everyoneâs agenda that it almost felt impossible to get this chanceâ it was almost like it was a chance of a lifetime. The courage that Sora had managed to muster when he had asked Kairi to spend time with him was no where to be seen and fiddling fingers took itâs place instead. Not to mention he was feeling agitated by the fact that he was almost late.
Thereâs no important laws when it came to flying fast in a gummy ship, right? Right.
Even then, he did his best to drive as carefully as he could. The last thing that he wanted to ruin the flowers that he carefully picked out with Rapunzel. It wouldâve been all too easy to go willy-nilly and pick out random ones, but he would never get the chance to do such a disgraceful thingâ not under Rapunzelâs book anyway. His previous encounter with the princess filled his thoughts and her big question clung to his brainâ or was it clinging to his heart?
âWhat message did you want to convey to her? Flowers have specific meanings, you know!â
The keyblade wielder gulped then and he gulped even harder now. Would Kairi notice the special flowers that he had picked out for her?
Itâs fine, what could go wrong? Nothing! Things will be fine and I wonât have it any other way!
Such big talk from such a nervous soul. If he was so ready, then there was definitely no turning back now. Before he knew it, he was already at the entrance of Master Yen Sidâs chamberâ Sora was so caught up in his thoughts that he didnât notice exactly how quickly he got there! Please donât mess this up for yourself..
Taking a deep breath with a bouquet of flowers in hand, his knuckled rasped against the large wooden door.
âIs this a bad time?â Sora called out, a nervous chuckle following suit.   â
⏠  @sorawr
âStaring out the window isnât gonna make him get here any fasterââ
Whipping her gaze towards the direction of the much taller redhead, Kairi scrunched up her face and stuck her tongue out at the teasing.
âI know that, Axel!â she said, leaning against the edge of Master Yen Sidâs wooden table. It wouldâve been nice if her heart could stop pounding so fast. âYou have no idea how long Iâve been waiting for thisâŚâ
âOh trust me, we all know, Kaiââ
  Thatâs it!
Ignoring the rest of the teasing comments coming from Axel, she began to shove him towards the fairiesâ room. He began to protest, but that didnât stop her. This should teach him a lessonâ they were gonna give him crap for not putting on his new clothes yet. Ha!
Because all of her time had recently been spent with Axel, he had been the first one who knew this thing was even happening. She couldnât hide how happy she was when Sora came to ask to spend time together. Of course, she had wanted to ask many times before, but he was always so busy. Kairi understood that he was needed in so many places, by so many people. Now, it was her turn!
The second she closed the heavy door on Axel, a knocking sound came from the front entrance. It startled her a bit, causing Kairi to jump before running for the handle. She wasnât even that nervous, it was just Sora. But it was Sora. After a moment to take a deep, shaky breath, she opened the door.
  "Sora!â
The second she saw his dorky smile, her nerves washed away completely. Eyes drifting towards the flowers in his hand, a small blush began to creep over her cheeks. He had obviously spent time thinking about all of thisâŚ
"Are those for me, or Master Yen Sid?â she teased lightly, hoping to divert his gaze from her pink cheeks.
hi idk how to write anymore :)Â
