Kaijû Ridley lineart for my Daikaijû Smash project.
Daikaijū Smash: Impact (...or Goemon depending how you look at it) I have been a bit anxious to work on this one as mechas aren't really my strong point... I wanted to include a steam mech to have a "fight" with DK and pave the way for future more efficient mechs. ABE from Codename S.T.E.A.M was my 1st idea but I wasn't satisfied with it. Then Impact came as an evidence as I absolutely love Ganbare Goemon games! These are probably why I started to be interested in Japan. The design goal was to mix steampunk with traditional Japanese theater like Kabuki and Bunraku.
Daikaijū Smash: Kong Archipelago fauna. Here is some bonus redesigns. I didn't want to give them a full (time-consuming) entry but still wanted to draw them as creatures living on Kong archipelago. So here are the Condor from the Ice Climbers game, Rambi from Donkey Kong Country and Bub from Puzzle Bobble/Bust-a-move with a quick and dirty look. Fun fact: The Condor was the creature the Ice Climbers were meant to met at first but I felt it was too obscure so I replaced it with Dedede.

Daikaijû Smash: Pac-Man (and a ghost)
This one was not in my plans at first as I didn’t know how to translate him in this universe (what is Pac-Man anyway???)… until a sudden flash of inspiration hit me a few days ago. Now, he is a big frog.

you have GOT to make some images from the gvk and kotm trailer with ur nintendo kaiju designs, your work is amazing!
Thank you! I don't plan to do it. I didn't even watched the trailer to keep the movie as fresh as possible. 😶
I forgot to post my concept sheets for Daikaijû Smash, a project of world-building where I turn videogame characters into kaijû, here... so here we go! (Sorry for the bleh english in the world-building blurbs...) You can also follow me on Twitter, Instagram or Artstation.

(Back to my Swords and Cookery project for a bit!)
The Oniku tribes live in the volcanic region of Kamado, where even the creatures that evolved to survive in this harsh environment are slowly cooked alive by the intense temperatures emanating from the oil volcanoes. The Kamado fauna is thus famous for its flavorful meat that can be eat without cooking.
The Oniku are fierce hunters that developed a wide range of fighting techniques to take down the delicious beasts living in the region. After centuries of practice, these techniques refined into sophisticated martial arts and are used to occasionnally settle a dispute with another tribe in a fighting tournament. Each tribe has perfected its own style. Among others:
the kushidô (lit. "the skewer path") use long bone pikes as a weapon,
the yakidô (lit. "the grill path") turn the body into a deadly weapon by channeling the inner heat,
the genkastu style (lit. "the fried fist") combine blunt force with fried armor created by dipping the chosen body part into boiling oil springs common in the region,...
Due to their high metabolism, the Oniku tend to constantly carry pieces of meat with them, even wearing them as adornments, in case they are hungry. To relax after a good day of hunt, they also love to bath hot broth springs: the famous shabu-shabuzzi ritual.
