Jamia smiled at her, “I’m good.” She shrugged once, “What about you?” She asked and tilted her head, “hey, I can make you some hot chocolate too, if you want.” Jamie gestured her head back at the cabin and lifted her brows offeringly.
Kai grins, nodding a bit at her question. "That'd be really great, thanks," she says kindly. "And I'm pretty great. I've been picking up some new instruments and exploring and stuff. It's pretty quiet out here though."
"Good," said Evan returning to grin. He chuckled lightly when Kai offered to pay the dues the next time they hung out together and Evan shrugged. "If you’re willing, I won’t stop you," said Evan, acknowledging that denying Kai’s offer wouldn’t have made for the best start of their friendship. The fact that Kai had offered to handle the bill next time around gave Evan the impression that here was a girl who took favours from no one if she could help it. He admired that - independence.
"I don’t know," said Evan, nonchalantly. "Maybe, how many siblings do you have? Do you get along well with them? I know Dylan and I used to bicker all the time. I reckon it would’ve been abnormal for two brothers not to fight the way we did, though." Evan thought of his fights with Dylan briefly, involuntary flashbacks of times when the two would participate in heated arguments. Although, they never really amounted to fistfights, thankfully. Evan would never admit it, but he reckons Dylan would win that theoretical duel. "You’ve never had butter cookies?," said Evan, seemingly calm at first portraying a look of impassivity. Then, he blinked and his face contorted into a more animated look. "You’ve never had butter cookies," echoed Evan, ducking his head forwards. "Kai, we need to get you some. I can’t stand for this.”
"Wouldn't have been able to stop me anyway," she teases as she drinks from her cup, humming appreciatively. Kai didn't like to freeload, so despite her teasing tone it hadn't been a joke. He'd paid this time, and she'd be sure to remember to pay the next. She was glad he hadn't argued, though, it saved her the time and effort of convincing him and then just eventually doing it whether he liked it or not.
"Here? I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure that I only have brothers, though. I don't have any siblings back home, it was just me and my mom. I always wanted a younger sibling, though." she explains, giving Evan a light shrug before sipping her drink. It was true, Kai had grown up an only child, but she was always surrounded by friends. Still, she had wished for a younger sibling on multiple occasions. "I've never had butter cookies," she repeats with a nod, quirking an eyebrow when he seemed incredulous to the fact. "You make them sound like I haven't lived a proper life without them," she laughs, shaking her head when he inclined his own towards her some. "Well, if you can manage to get me one at some point, I'll be sure to try it.”
Jamie looked up and smiled, waving once at her, “Hey, Lani.” Jamie smiled, and gestured for her to come over if she wanted.
Kai grinned when Jamie called her over, going to sit beside her on the steps. "How are you, hon?' she asks, making herself comfortable.
— Jamie sighed a little as she sat on the porch steps of the cabin, holding the mug of steaming hot chocolate in hand before she sipped from it once and smiled to herself, her eyes drifting to the sky over her head.
Kai had been walking around, stopping when she saw a girl on the steps of House Ares. "Hey," she says casually, used to greeting whoever she passed.
I could name a couple hundred thousand things. Like pizza rolls. Those are literally the best. But nothing beats Taco Bell, I mean come on.
Oh, I haven't had Taco Bell in ages. It's not really my thing, though. I just love pizza, honestly.
Literally nothing tastes better than Hawaiian pizza after a day of training.
Evan was grateful for the fact that Kai was not the sort of demigod to assert her views upon others. Instead, she expressed her understanding towards his preference and he really appreciated that. He was beginning to think that Kai would be someone he could definitely get along with in the long-run based on what he knows of her personality thus far, that is.
When Evan spots Kai raising her hand, he grinned to let her know he’d seen her and made his way over to her, with the tray of drinks held with both hands. “Alright,” said Evan as he approached their table and carefully placed the tray on the table. “One Iced Vanilla Mocha for the lady and a Caffe Misto for me,” said Evan, lifting the beverage off the tray and placing it in front of Kai; he repeated the gesture for himself. “Don’t worry about it,” said Evan in response to Kai’s question, hoping that she wouldn’t be too uncomfortable with the fact that he had volunteered to pay for both drinks without first consulting her. “Think of it as a ‘Welcome to the Academy’ gesture,” said Evan amiably.
"So, tell me about you," said Evan, and then, not wanting to sound like as if he were prompting to her to confide in him information that she might not prefer to - like how she discovered her true identity and how it must have felt to find herself here instead of back home living the normal life of a teenager she must have thought she was entitled to - he added," Like, are you a fan of butter cookies?"
Kai took her drink with a bright smile. “I swear I had drachmas in here,” she mutter before Evan stops her, telling her not to worry about it and to think of it as a 'Welcome' gesture. She smiles, thinking it kind of him to do that and she nods. “I can do that,” she says, taking a sip of her drink before giving him a playfully pointed look. “Next time, I pay,” she decides with a nod, letting him know that while her tone was playful, she was being serious about returning the favor next time.
"Hmm, what do you wanna know?," she asks, looking at him after sipping her drink. Kai had always tended to divulge too much information when questions like that were asked, so instead of ramble on she preferred him narrowing down whatever he wanted to know. She never minded being an open book, it's what kept her so at peace with herself. " Butter cookies?" she laughs a bit. "I don't think I've had any, to be honest."
Them in general. Daft Punk is just the best.
They are. They definitely deserved their Grammy wins.
[Shrugs and reaches back, scratching the back of his head.] People who would rather spend their time indoors?
[She sighs, pouting a bit.] Yeah well they're missing out.
Anna’s hand stayed firmly to her sides, Kai’s hand on her cheeks making her blush, her eyes moving to Kai’s lips before they pressed to hers, and her eyes close, and she finds herself slowing kissing the girl back, Oliver flooding her mind though.
When Anna starts to respond, Kai puts a little more into the kiss. She doesn't deepen it, not wanting to go too far, but she pulls back for just a second before pressing another soft kiss to her lips. She pulls back, eyes opening slowly and she gives her a nervous look. "So..anything?"
"I guess evolution of the body doesn’t necessarily translate to evolution of the mind," said Evan shrugging indifferently. Evan listened to Kai talk to him about little known facts of Sparta back in the days. He was impressed by her knowledge of it, wondering if she was a feminist at all with the effort she’d put into acquiring suck knowledge of women-kind. He nodded in agreement with her words about the Academy not taking into consideration gender but instead combat skill and other relevant abilities. "Definitely."
Evan chuckled at Kai’s enthusiasm when she described the general atmosphere of a musical festival entailing the reasons he should make it a point to attend one as soon as was possible. “Well, I get the passion and the ethereal bond with music, in the moment. It’s the crowds I don’t do well with, I suppose. I prefer music laid-back and enjoyed in my own time and preferred setting. Like, if it was a John Mayer concert then yeah, I wouldn’t mind going to one of those. Where the audience keeps its silence when the artist plays and not try to drown him out with their cheers,” said Evan, justifying his idea of a music festival. “Not a problem,” said Evan as Kai stepped into the cafe and he followed suit, letting the door shut behind them. “Ah, yes, I’ll have a Caffè Misto, please,” said Evan smiling at the demigod at the counter. “You can go on ahead and get us a seat, I’ll wait for the drinks,” said Evan.
Shortly after, the drinks were served and Evan paid the dues for the two drinks. He figured he would pay for Kai’s drink as she was still new here and it was a gesture of goodwill on his behalf. Returning his wallet to his pocket after paying in drachmas, Evan lifted the tray of drinks and looked around for Kai.
When Evan mentioned that he preferred more relaxed settings to that of the carefree wildness that usually happened at the festivals she had attended, Kai nodded in understanding. Kai herself preferred the loudness and seeing how people enjoyed themselves so freely despite also loving the rapt attention more quiet audiences paid to the performers. She supposed it had to do with her mood, but Evan obviously had a preference which she understood. “I get it, you like relaxing and listening to chill music,” she summarized with a nod. That made sense, though it didn't mean she wasn't eventually going to try and convince him to go to one of the music festivals. When Evan ordered, Kai was set to wait for them until Evan suggested she find them a place to sit and she nods. “Sure thing,” she says, turning and looking for a good spot. The place was relatively empty, with only a few demigods hanging around so there was plenty of open space. She sees that the couch in the small 'den' area is empty, so she makes her way towards it and sits down to wait for Evan.
When Kai spots him looking around, she raises her hand and waves until he sees her and comes over. She smiles as she takes the drink, thanking him before frowning when she realized he'd paid for her drink. "Oh! Shoot, I totally forgot to pay," she says, shaking her head and reaching for her phone case wallet. "How much was mine?"
Anna stayed quiet… not sure at all what she should do. She was confused, and Kai had a point, it would be fair to herself to not at least try, but, she had a boyfriend, a really amazing, wonderful and perfect boyfriend she liked so much… he would be mad… but… it was just a kiss, and it wouldn’t mean anything. “I, uhm…” Anna blushes, nodding her head slowly as she glanced down at the ground, she could at least try.
Kai bites her lip when Anna nods, having prepared herself for a rejection but being pleasantly surprised that Anna had actually considered what she said. She took a slow breath, stepping closer to her and lifting a hand to cup her cheek and leaning up to press her lips gently to Anna's. She lingers, deciding to let Anna control their pace, not wanting to overwhelm her.
Exactly. It’s better to be optimistic instead of getting yourself all down about it. But, everything seems pretty good so far, so I guess just more fun for us, right?
Right. More beach and food for us.

She took a deep and shook her hand before standing in defense stance.] O-Okay I’m r-ready.
That's what training's for. [she gives her an encouraging smile. She decides maybe it's best to start off slower, since she was still getting the hang of this and PJ was obviously nervous about it. She struck once PJ said she was ready, aiming a blow to her shoulder.]
Anna pauses, biting her bottom lip as she nods slowly, wringing her hands together. “Uhm, well, yeah, I mean… I’ve never been kissed by a girl before, I mean, Oli’s the only other person to kiss me… and… it was nice, I just… Oliver…” She sighs, her head shaking, she really liked Oliver, more than anything, but Kai was such a good friend… she didn’t want to hurt either of them.
Kai nods, biting her lower lip and looking down for a moment. "Have you ever.. I mean... you know... Have you ever liked girls before?" she asks, looking up at her again. "Maybe.. Maybe we could um, I-I could kiss you again? I mean, just to see. I sort of caught you off guard last time and that wasn't fair, but.. Don't you kind of, you know, owe it to yourself? To see if maybe.. maybe you like it a little more?" she asks, unsure of herself now. "I mean if you don't, we can totally pretend it didn't happen and never bring it up again."
Well— [He looks down at the ground while he talks, finding it easier that way.] Just because the attendance rate wasn’t as high as previously calculated doesn’t mean that there’s the event is insufficient. There could be a multitude of factors, really.
[Kai gives him a sort of confused look, not catching some of what he said but understanding the gist of it after a moment.] Yeah, yeah I know. I had just hoped that more people would show. I mean, it's beautiful out here, who'd wanna miss that?
