Considering his role on the station, Odo rarely had to deal with the Kai, save for ensure that safety procedures were installed whenever she visited. Direct interaction, however, was always graciously handled by Captain Sisko or the Major. Today, however, he was not so lucky.

Clutching a PADD between his hands, Odo gave her an awkward look. “Excuse me, Kai Winn, but I am not one of your children. I don’t follow the Prophets. I also regret to inform you that the spiritual texts that you and your fellow Vedeks brought with you have been … stolen.” He offered her the PADD he was holding, so she could see which ones exactly.

“We are all children of the Prophets, Odo, even those of us who stray,” she said, never for an instant dropping that wonderfully disingenuous smile and maintaining her eye contact as she took the report from the officer.

“Oh,” she raises a hand to her chest and, for a moment, seemed deeply troubled by the information she was taking in, “Oh, Constable! And this was a text the Emmisary himself had requested I bring aboard. I warned him something like this might happen if he kept insisting on taking Bajoran artifacts on and off world so freely.”

( How perfectly terrible that something like this should happen directly after she had argued this very point with the Commander. How dreadful! How awful! )
