And I've been to the Grand Canyon and the petrified forest of Arizona. I've also been through Death Valley. It really does look like a bunch of sand dunes for miles.

He held one finger to his lips in thought for a while--and a small amount of time passed as he did so.
"The last time I met one, she sort of became cosmic dust....so I believe that is not the typical experience one has."
How do you feel about Being Sick with a Cold?
He's terrible about it. He's the type to refuse to let himself believe that he's sick--instead stubbornly working and especially studying throughout the illness, even as it ravages him. He has to be dragged kicking his goat hooves all the way the bed.
"Oh! Right, let me explain." Most people who were brought here needed an explanation, as she's learned. Susie takes out her cell phone, which has a pink case with her company logo on the back.
"Did you happen to receive one of these when you arrived?" she says, holding up her phone for him to see. "This is a cell phone, and it's your go-to device for payments, traversal, and communication in this city."

It rather reminded him of the GameBoy that he picked up out of Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion years ago--the literal one belonging to the wizard, not the spell itself.
"Does it use magic to work?" He asked. "Or electricity?"
He'd seen steam powered technology before, of course, and some that ran on magic, but he knew the technology from Earth relied on power.
"Dr... Dragon born?"
Alphys blinks, confused.
"S-sorry, I don't really kn-know my ancestry..."
"Uh, but I can do eeeeelectric magic if that answers anything...? Aheh..."

Kairon walked in circles around the other--yellow eyes piercing, intrigued by this new being.
"Do you mind showing it to me? I would love to see a new type of magic, if you don't mind."
It had to be different from the weave, because he couldn't sense the swell of magic here--only the kind radiating from him, as a sorcerer of it.
Once again, he was rather glad that he wasn't a wizard....

"Ooh! I haven't heard of those places before." She notes the twitch, but doesn't comment on it. "I've been here a number of times, and I'm more than happy to show you around!"
"I bet you're in the mood for a nice, sweet treat... like ice cream! I know just the place." She could show him to his housing or the like, but wouldn't he rather get something to eat?

The subject changed rather quickly, and the tiefling was left reeling as she offered the desert, and he tilted his head to the side in thought.
It would be rather rude to refuse, he decided, but even more rude to not be honest with her.
"My apologies, but I have just arrived, so I am not sure about your currency, or even if I have any."
once he got the board rolling, it was quite difficult to stop. what he sees is a blur of blue, something sharp and keratin-dense, before he jumps off the still-moving vehicle to avoid a collision.
he watches it go for a couple of seconds, calculating how long it would take to catch up to if he were to start running now.
what makes him stop is a rather polite inquiry. first, he looks at the source of it. then, he looks for a potential third party.
upon determining there are no other beings that the tiefling could be talking to, ethos points a sharp nail at his chest as if to ask: 'me?'
“ i go by ethos. ” a smile, followed by an up-and-down glance at the golden-eyed stranger. “ may i know yours? ”
Oh--!
He watched the vehicle roll away, and then he turned back to the other (Ethos), and he gave a sheepish smile, one hand going to the back of his head to nervously card sharp fingernails through his hair, before dropping them both behind his back formally.
Not a good first impression there. He chastised himself internally. You can't just stop busy people like that, it's rude!
Then, of course, he realized that a moment of silence had passed, and that he was leaving the other person hanging.
This could also not stand, because that was also considered rude, so he cast his mind out wildly again, trying to find something to say that didn't sound like exactly what he'd done--which was stop a person to ask about them because they were a new person to him.
But who does that?
Oh no. He was still not talking. He flapped his arms a moment--an action to get his mind moving again.
"Your antennae!" He tried. "I like them."

He stared, a moment. He remembered the last time that this happened. The last time that he followed someone like him.
He shook his head.
"Sorry--I didn't mean to stare."

He jogged, the sound of hooves clicking on concrete being something that was more than a little attention-grabbing.
"Excuse me!" He stopped, half doubling over, hands awkwardly balanced on inverted knees. "Do you happen to know where we are? I'm terribly lost, and I can't find my way back home."

When the tiefling was younger and still living in Oerth, he was shaken by the lack of the weave.
Magic itself was different, changed. He carried a piece of it inside of him everywhere he went, so he was never without his magic.
He felt a shift in the wind through velvet fur, and he turned a little to see the other being--and he was instantly a little curious about the other.
"Excuse me," he said. "May I ask to know your name, please?"

What an interesting person! Susie wonders if he's one of those teethlings like Prometheus, or if he's closer to Mariko's husband. To her, his curly horns suggest the latter.

"Are you new to this city?" she asks. "I don't think I've seen you around before."
"Oh, yes. I'm from the land of Faerun, and the city of Waterdeep."
The people here seemed very friendly and welcoming--it was a bit of a new experience. He'd been to nice places before--Oerth was a nice world, and most people in Waterdeep were quite welcoming, but....
They were still worlds that suffered from conflict. This one didn't.
The thought made him twitch a little.
"And I just arrived this week."
